How I Picked My Job Classes In Final Fantasy XII

underrated FF game. 12 is one of my favorites
Here are the builds I've been using for my most recent playthrough: Knight/BlackMage, Bushi/TimeBattlemage, WhiteMage/Shikari, Foebreaker/Machinist, Monk/BlackMage and Archer/RedMage. A couple of these combos are awesome but a few are not great. Maybe I'll try some of yours next time.
Crazy we had similar thought patterns on combos but on a few different characters heres my combos....
Vaan- knight/bushi
Balthier- shikari/foebreaker
Fran- archer/red battlemage
Ashe- black mage/monk
Penelo- white mage machinist
Vaan- made him the knight be cause he the most well rounded
Balthier- the main man and gentleman thief at first i was gonna do machinist and shikari or foebreaker but then i didnt want my white mage in the middle of the fight i wanted her to have some distance so i went with hunter/breaker combo
Fran- enough said
Basch- to me would seem like the strongest so a spear seemed right to me time battlemage for haste and other spells to
Ashe- just seems like naturally good choice black mage and add the monk for the hammers and some extra health and all that so she can fight and cast
Penelo- enough said heal and shot from afar
I do have a serious question though. For classes that end up being able to equip two types of armors how do you determine what to wear on those characters?

Machinist ignores enemy defense, Balthier is easily the best character for that job with his speed being one of the highest. Besides other than yiazmat or hunts most enemies die in 1 to two hits. He only needs to hit once and with haste he will f stuff up. He’s also great for battles that nullify magic as he is a good item user. Each character has a part to play but building them based on combos is seemingly irrelevant through 95% of the game. Similar to Fran, her magic being 5/7 points lower than penelo doesn’t mean you should build her to ardor. That’s one spell and is fire element, that’s good in situations and trash in others. Plus 5/7 points out of around 100 is not as much as people think. Certainly not worth handicapping her to ardor
Balthier does have the highest speed but his gun animation is the slowest out of the cast next to Penelo so that it balance his overall stats and speed doesnt effect the CT guage but it does however scale with daggers, ninja blades and bows
