Remember starting the game and being very overwhelmed with which class to give each character and then having to do like an hour of research just to be extra sure 😂
This is what I'm doing right now lol. What did you end up choosing?
@@korgy321 tryna remember but i think i ended up doing
Vaan: bushi/knight
Balthier: shikari/foebreaker
Fran: archer/redmage
Basch: time battlemage/uhlan
Ashe: white mage/machnist
Penelo: black mage/monk
This is me right now lol
@@PhoenixEnforcer101 same still I wanna make sure as well
Probably a monumental waste of time to spend hours over thinking it now because you can respec at Montblanc. As Primal said you can beat the main game easily with any combo
I used all 12 because I wanted to, but I optimized for weapon animation speed. Classes that use heavy and mystic armor will hit 99 in STR and MAG respectively. Mind you the frame differences are minimal but I considered how the character's natural stats work out so this seems like a good way to min/max with all classes. I'll post the link to the spreadsheet I found with all of the data when I get to my desktop.
Vaan - Knight/Machinist
Balthier - Shikari/Breaker
Basch - Bushi/Uhlan
Fran - Monk/Black Mage
Ashe - White Mage/Time Mage
Penelo - Red Mage/Archer
And regarding the weapon speeds based off of the spread sheet, they seem accurate (I tested/tried them out on the PS2 version of the game where you can use any weapon type).
I picked them relatively in order below.
Personal reasoning:
Vaan - He is the Jack of all stats. He is extremely fast with both 1h and 2h swords and considering that Knight has access to some white magic as well, Knight just seemed like a perfect fit. Machinist was a bit of a throwaway class. Guns are great early on but fall off in the endgame so I just picked Vaan because it was left over. That being said, Machinist is a good utility class for technicks and potion/remedy lores.
Balthier - Using Ninja Swords on Balthier because his weapon speed and natural speed stat are best suited for the weapon. Picked Breaker for heavy armor. Might use Balthier as a Main Gauche tank for certain bosses as well of course.
Basch - Basch is extremely fast with most weapon types; he is a former soldier after all. Like the others before, I went for Bushi because Basch's katana animation speed and natural STR stat. Uhlan is mainly for the heavy armor but I can have Basch switch to spears if needed.
Fran - She is interesting because she's the Master of None. I wasn't sure what to do with her at first, her natural STR isn't as good as the boys but her natural MAG isn't as good as the other girls. I figured
to give her Monk because her poles speed was the best and I could make her a high health tank earlier on (and to great effect) and I could use her for side heals with cura and curaja being available. I put her on Black Mage because Monk tends to not use MP and once her health is high enough I can switch her to Mystic Robes. I also set up gambits for her to use aoe spells when there's multiple enemies so she's a multi enemy sweeper in that regard.
Penelo - Most of her weapon speeds are pretty bad compared to everyone else. Ninja swords are one of her good weapon types but Balthier's already taken it. As for ranged weapons, bows are the only ranged weapons that she uses at a decent animation speed and unfortunately Penny's natural speed isn't great. Either way, that meant Archer. Honestly for me, Red mage and White Mage felt interchangeable, it would just change which team I'd have them on (I use all 6 characters equally). I went for Red Mage and Mystic robes for Penny. Bows do decent damage so I can keep her at range as she heals plus Archer has some nice utility as well. I might switch her back to maces after I get Bubble/Bubble belts but keeping her ata range keeps her safe. She's her team's main healer and it's gone well so far. She's on the same team as Fran who can learn Cura and Curaja and Balthier who has Remedy Lores so most of my bases are covered.
Ashe - Like I said in Penny's section I could've inverted Red and White mage but considering I already made that decision I put Ashe on WM and TM. Ashe's natural STR is pretty good so TM's crossbows would work out well and her animation speed with it is fine as well. Obviously, her natural magic is [I believe] the best, so WM is a perfect fit. Ashe will be mainly wearing Mystic armor but I might switch her to a frontline Greatsword/Sword brawler if get the specific espers. Currently on a team w/ Vaan and Basch.
Might switch teams for endgame/post game but just to repeat the teams:
Team 1: Vaan Basch Ashe
Team A: Balthier Fran Penelo
And like I said I try to keep teams even level-wise.
Sorry, didn't mean to write an essay but I am pretty damn passionate about this game lmao. Just really glad they gave a childhood favorite a remaster with a beautiful rework.
Thanks man. Great guide
A V You saved me a lot of time my friend thank you 😊
@@zekkavo9904 how tf you switch jobs? I might use this strat
Giau Le talk to the moogle Montblanc in the Rabanastre clan centurio hall, it’s in the nothernmost area on the left
Two teams: (1) Vaan Bushi-Shikari
Balthier Machinist-Red Mage
Penelo Monk-Black Mage
(2) Basch Knight-Foebreaker
Fran Archer-Time Mage
Ashe White Mage-Uhlan
In my opinion this is the most balanced overpowered job setup using all 12 jobs that can be created. A very strong tank for each group, a Hastega caster for each group, and a powerful healer for each group that can also hold their own with physical attacks as well. This is very balanced as group one has a combo oriented tank with potent offensive magic users as well. While group two has the ultimate strength oriented tank as well as a White Mage capable of 15,000-20,000hp attacks depending on equipment. Feel free to try this setup out.
Vaan: White/Shikari (Great tank/support with high MP & HP)
Balthier: Time/Shikari (Best ninja sword attacker + Haste & Float for party #1)
Fran: Monk/Time (Best pole attacker + another Haste + Float for party #2)
Basch: Knight/Bushi (Best kitana attacker + Good healer + Access to Faith and Bravery)
Ashe: BM/Monk (Highest Magic stat + Great Healer + Late game juggernaut with Scathe)
Penelo: RBM/Archer (Highest Damage output: Burning Bow + Ardor = One shot mobs)
*All the abilities are spread out, makes game play more smooth and efficient*
-Everyone but Basch can cast Green Magic, meaning everyone else can cast Bubble and Reverse
-Everyone has MAX swiftness.
-Everyone can equip 2 types of gear
-Everyone has high HP
-Everyone can cast spells and buffs so you don't rely on one person, thus saves a lot of time.
Man, this is EXACTLY the video I've been looking for. This is extremely helpful to a new player like me and having this kind of structure and guidance gives me a confidence I wouldn't be able to develop for a long time, and would probably make a lot of stupid and wasteful mistakes before that point. I'll experiment on my second playthrough after I have a better understanding and enough experience to know what experimenting will be worth it, but for my first playthrough I really want to have a good and powerful experience without countless noob mistakes.
Thank you!
enough thinking im going with this guy setup
HanHan 94 exactly
Sheep
No more think. Me no brain
Vaan: Bushi + White Mage
Balthier: Machinist + Foebreaker
Fran: Archer + Red Battlemage
Basch: Knight + Uhlan
Ashe: Time Battlemage + Monk
Penelo: Shikari + Black Mage
My team goes by an opposites attract strategy. For starters each job represents a Zodiac Sign, each Zodiac Sign represents an Esper, each Esper represents an Element, and each Element has a weakness i.e. Opposites Attract.
I give Balthier, Fran, Basch, and Penelo the jobs that uses the weapons they're introduced with. Ashe's character profile gave me the idea of Time Battlemage. Which left Bushi for Vaan.
I give the Espers of the game to the characters whose job corresponds with the Zodiac Sign they represent.
Vaan's jobs Bushi and White Mage represent Aquarius and Aries which represent Famfrit and Belias so you've got the opposites Water and Fire. This also works with Basch's jobs Knight and Uhlan that represent Leo and Taurus which represent Hashmal and Chaos which give you the opposites Earth and Wind or better yet Order and Chaos. Then you've got Penelo's jobs Shikari and Black Mage that represent Pisces and Capricorn which represent Mateus and Adrammelech which give you the opposites Ice and Lightning.
Balthier's jobs Machinist and Foebreaker represent Gemini and Scorpio which represent Zalera and Cúchulainn. This doesn't create elemental opposites it's more of a combo like Death of the Impure, or Impure Death.
Fran's jobs Archer and Red Battlemage represent Sagittarius and Cancer which represent Shemhazai and Zeromus. Again this is more of a combo like Whispers of the Condemner, or Condemned of the Whisperer.
Ashe's jobs Time Battlemage and Monk represent Libra and Monk which represent Exodus and Ultima. At first there is nothing with these two but eventually you create both opposites and a combo. I also give Zodiark to Ashe so with Ultima you've got the opposites Light and Darkness, and since Libra is known as the scales with Exodus you've also got a combo I like to call The balance of Light and Darkness.
The license boards work well with each other, and the Esper license's unlock some good stuff as well.
Doctor Logic exaclty what i was looking for. Thanks alot and btw the way you explained it was so interesting and add a much deeper element to it.
If I had to use all 12 jobs, I'd go with this as a setup:
- Knight/Bushi - too good to not have. I'd give this to one of the guys.
- Red Battlemage/Shikari -flexible. Can tank, heal, or dps as needed. With Germinas Boots and Yagyu, will be a decent Yiazmat killer (though not as efficient as Bushi/Shikari, as least this combo is fairly useful for the majority of the game, unlike BUS/SHI which will be berserked most of the time you use it...). Anyone could do this job well, but as a personal preference, I'd use either Vaan, Balthier, or Penelo.
- Monk/Time Battlemage - with one Esper, this character has access to all breaks. With more Esper support, this character becomes an excellent supporter for any team. Monk loves TBM's heavy armor. Only downsides are the number of Espers needed to reach full potential and lack of mystic armor. I'd give this either to Vaan or any of the girls (for their higher magic stats), though it should be noted that Fran is the quickest when using poles.
- Uhlan/Archer - an early beast, good at targeting enemy weaknesses, gets all item lores. Uhlan is lacking in Technicks, but Archer has lots of those. I'd use anyone for this except Ashe or Penelo because I think it's a waste of their huge MP pools.
- White Mage/Foebreaker - A healer who can wear heavy armor and use shields if needed with access to all breaks. Fran has the best vitality, which makes her the best Foebreaker, but any of the girls would work great.
- Black Mage/Machinist - WM is too busy healing to shoot, so BM will make better use of the guns. Any of the girls would work fine for this.
Thanks for help
Thank you, I will be using this setup.
I had a hard enough time picking single jobs for my party 🙄
I played FF12 and beat it twice for PS2 so this is rather new to me but what fits my play style is what I have in order
VAAN- shikari/Archer
Penelo- RedMage/Machinist
Balthier- Machinist/ Time Battlemage
Fran- Monk/Bushi
Basch- Bushi/ Foebreaker
Ashe- White Mage/ Knight
Side note- I will have you guys know that all these jobs mean nothing in a sense that it doesn't break the game. It's not the main focus. So what ever combinations you pick will be good in unique.. The creators of this game made it like this.
Vaan: Black Mage/Monk
Penelo: White Mage/ Machinist
Fran: Uhlan/Time Mage
Balthier: Foebreaker/Shikari
Basch: Knight/Bushi
Ashe: Red Battlemage/Archer
Really balanced, good hp for everyone with super hp for the tanks and super mp for the 2 girls, lots of shared abilities, everyone can steal/poach, everyone has Swiftness times 3
Tbh you only need 1 stealer and of you need more you get 3 for free
Vaan - Shikari / Uhlan
Balthier - Machinist / Time Battlemage
Fran - Archer / Red Battlemage
Basch - Bushi / Foebreaker
Ashe - Knight / Black Mage
Penelo - Monk / White Mage
Played this again on the Switch. My setup:
Vaan: Uhlan + Time Battle Mage
Balthier: Shikari + Foe Breaker
Fran: Red Mage + Black Mage
Basch: Knight + Archer
Ashe: Monk + Bushi
Panelo: White Mage + Machinist
I actually chose the first jobs based on what I think the character would most likely use but also how I played in the past. The second job was basically choosing what was left and complimentary so all 12 are used. So:
Vaan: Shikari/Monk
Penelo: White Mage/Bushi
Balthier: Machinist/Foebreaker
Fran: Archer/Black Mage
Basche: Ulahn/Time Battlemage
Ashe: Knight/Red Battlemage
Basically I use what I call the “Hunter Party”. That’s Ashe in the lead with Sword/Shield, Fran as ThiefArcher/Ranger/Black Mage and Basche as two-handed powerhouse/tank. With the mixed jobs, all will use backup support technicks/spells as needed.
I think the roles of the zodiac system can be fun. But honestly just wish they gave the option to use the original non zodiac license board like they gave the original option in ffx remaster to use original sphere grid. For the most part, I want to play through campaign using roles that make sense for characters as they are introduced and depicted, I like the original for this reason, and then would mess with zodiac system for new game plus.... doubting a patch would ever come for this. At least we can reset jobs on PS4 now. Stuck in decision paralysis for now.
When I 1st chose my jobs, I was mord concerned to do so in relation to be able to unlock every espère, which can be an issue if not selected well. But basically we don t need them per say, buffers ans debuffers + versatility in amors/weapons/spells is way more valuable
Good info. I've decided on:
Ashe - Monk/Black Mage
Fran - Archer/Red Mage
Penolo - Machinist/White Mage
Balthier - ulhan/Time Mage
Vaan - Hunter/Breaker
basch - Knight/Samurai
ArsenicSteel00 bad choices all around. The best setup after hours and hours of researching with a team comes to this
Knight/time battle mage
Machinest/foebreaker
Archer/red battle mage
Uhlon/monk
White mage/bushi
Black mage/shikari
This will result in maximum output and flexibility. There are no better choices
+ souls elite Why pair Uhlan with Monk? That makes no sense as both jobs have weapons that can hit flying enemies. Also they have too many lores that overlap, like the battle lores. Plus there aren't many magick lores to help with the monk's white magic. Good choice with the Red Mage/Archer combo. Ardor is beast with the burning bow and the black robes.
souls elite What makes the OP's setup bad? For me, I'd do the same thing but switch the jobs of Ashe and Penelo between them.
+ The Bel-Boy The original posters job choices aren't bad. The "souls elite" guy who's an elitist who isn't really an elitist thinks he knows what he's talking about. His job choices outside of Knight/Time Mage and Archer/Red Mage are pure shite to be honest.
+ veteran0121 I don't understand souls elite either. I checked the FF wikia page and other channels like FF Union for suggestions, and the original poster's job setups are exactly what they recommend. To me, ArsenicSteel00 makes sense.
similar set up
ahse=monk/blackmage
bash=uhlan/bushi
vann=knight/time mage
balthier=bushi\shikari
fran=white mage\foebreaker
penelo=archer
edmage
I always like having 2 white mages in my team.
Vaan - Knight/Red Battlemage
Penelo - White Mage/Shikari
Balthier - Machinist/Uhlan
Basch - Bushi/Foe Breaker
Fran - Archer/Time Battlemage
Ashe - Black Mage/White Mage
Mine is
vaan- monk/bushi. Vaan is the best for 1 hand weapons (kumbha) and monk buff it for more magic and battlelore,
Balthier- shikari/bushi- same as video
Basch- foebreaker/shikari. Wither for yiazmat
Fran- blackmage/redmage - fran has slow range anim, and also slow melee atk.. redmage for ardor the most powerful magic and max magic lore with both black/red combo
Penelo- whitemage/machinist. - best backup with highest mp character
Ashe- knight/timemage - for excalibur in izjs can mostly deal 20-30k dps and ashe 2nd highest mp and tankier than penelo, with overall paladin gameplay with heal and dps
The Ultimate Job Setup with specific character stats in mind;
Vaan - Uhlan/Shikari
Balthier - Machinist/Time Battlemage
Fran - Red Battlemage/Foebreaker
Basch - Knight/Monk
Ashe - White Mage/Bushi
Penelo - Archer/Black Mage
You're welcome. :-)
Only issue with this setup is you're locking Hastega onto one character. It's never best to pair Time mage and Machinist as they are the only two jobs with access to that spell
I set myself 2 challenges starting out: that I would use all 12 jobs with no overlap, and I would start Balthier and Fran as Machinist and Archer per their lore even if not optimal. Also, White Mage just doesn't fit Balthier's style so no MCH/WHM for him. Here is what I am going with:
Vaan: Uhlan/Time Battlemage
Penelo: Black Mage/Monk
Ashe: White Mage/Shikari
Balthier: Machinist/Foebreaker
Fran: Archer/Red Battlemage
Basch: Knight/Bushi (with Mateus and Hashmal Espers for juicy white magic)
I plan to run a similar setup for my Switch playthrough, based on their personalities rather than OP setups. I mean, game Official arts put guns on Balthier and Bows on Fran. Makes sense to put Vaan as a Uhlan, but Penelo to me looks more of a support role. I only played the PS2 version till now so all of these builds are totally new to me. Excited to test them out thoug! Since I plan to get the PS4 Platinum Trophy this is like perfect practice. On PS4 I will try to make the best possible builds though.
You can go to the moogle in the clan hall and he will change your classes for you
that update wasnt out at the time of making this video
@@Primalliquid92 : Hi there.I wonder if you can help. For some reason, both the Sky Pirates' Den and Change Job options have completely disappeared from the list. I have no idea how this happened and am wondering if you have any advice. Many thanks for your great guides.
Can get the best gun just after the tomb, just have to steal from the most dangerous enemy in the game.
Just the sound of that thrills me 😏
No uhlan. I liked to use all 12 although it's not optimal
I'm keen to do trial mode but considering it was possible to best on one job then it can clearly still be bested
I don't know that I've seen so much indecision involved in a game, ever. It's why I didn't get through more than a few hours of it a decade ago, despite buying the PS2 Steelbook Edition on Day One (and that was just 1 job). I appreciate the idea that you can just pick what you like, and that has been stressed by the best gamers out there, but you make some good points here.
The only change I have made is Basch: Knight/time mage and Balthier: Foebreaker/Uhlan.
Vaan: Monk - Timebattle Mage
Balthier: Knight - Black Mage
Fran: Archer - Foebreaker
Bash: Knight - Bushi
Ash: Uhlan - Redbattle Mage
Penelo : White Mage - Shikari
Love this team
I'm much later on in the game, and I'm feeling the limitations and importance of choosing your jobs effectively.
I'm playing on PC, I modded it si every job is the full classic board + the new licenses. It feels like good ol' days
I'm playing the ps2 version right now, I personally like both boards, however the original board makes characters to op by the end of the game lol
Vaan shikari-knight balthier red mage-machinist Fran blakmage-archer basch uhlan-bushi ashe foe breaker-whaitemage penelo timebattlemage-monk this is the team to play.
great video, just a tip. if you follow this guide plan out your quickenings, especially for Vaan and Basch as you can lock yourself from getting access to the weapons.
I wish I'd read this earlier 😂
Getting it on switch, do you have a tip for the espers too? I read that they have a influence on the licence boards
I got it on the switch as well
I got the game but not the nintendo switch😂
I got a rock...
My team:
Vaan: Knight + Shikari
Balthier: Machinist + Bushi
Fran: Archer + Time Mage
Basch: Red Mage + Monk
Ashe: Black Mage + Foebreaker
Penelo: White Mage + Uhlan
At first I went for the obvius/stereotype jobs, but I decided to make them different and grant them different armors and playstyles
look at all this well constructed thought into picking classes
I literally just went, spears are cool uhlan
oh I need a healy person, white mage
oh she looks cute with the daggers, shikari
and I just don't touch the other 3 they still like lv 10 or something
🙃
same bro, even though i have played this game for like 10 times
Thank you so much. This is my first time playing this game. This is very helpful.
I recommend with Knight and other different job like all types of magic on the beginning for Karkata access from trial mod for 92 damage and 100% confusion effect to can rare steal it from the 1st cactus gang boss
Later make your base job monk for a highe attack and healing access best 2nd nob is four-breaker
After playing the game, I actually found this setup to be the most enjoyable for me:
Vaan - Knight/Time Battlemage
Balthier - Shikari/Foebreaker
Basch - Monk/Bushi
Ashe - Red Battlemage/Black Mage
Penelo - Machinist/White Mage
Fran - Archer/Uhlan
The suggestion in this video is alright; I tried it out. I just couldn’t find much joy out of it, so I restarted my file and used the setup above and I got what I wanted from all the characters this time.
Wow we agree on three character-job combos. I'm using the same Ashe, Penelo, and Fran. I like your choices, fellow gamer!
Thank you so much. I wanted to use all jobs with 3 swiftness, so I built off your advice.
Vaan samurai/knight
Balthier dragoon/time mage
Fran foebreaker/machinist
Bosch shakiri/ white mage
Ashe monk/black mage
Penello red mage/archer
Balthier and Fran have hastega and all 4 breaks this way too.
Vaan bosch Ashe and penello can all heal decently.
I'd appreciate any feedback if somebody reads this.
Thoughts?
Vaan: Shikari/Foebreaker
Penelo: White Mage/Machinist
Fran: Black Mage/Monk
Balthier: Uhlan/Time Battle Mage
Basch: Knight/Bushi
Ashe: Red Battle Mage/Archer
Fran has weakest stats, don't have her as nuke mage
I love this game. I have a notebook with about 15 different setups for classes. With the rapeage that the trial mode can give you, Knight and Bushi are my 2 main classes, for the main purpose of the Karkata. Monk follows suite, due to the STUPIDLY high HP bump. And thirdly, is a tie between Shikari and Time Battlemage. SHI for it high DPS but TBM for its diversity.
playing ffxii for the 5th time (first time zodiac age) I went in blind with jobs; more specifically, I put classes where I felt best fit the character.
Vaan: Shikari/ Foebreaker
Blathier: machinist/time mage
Fran: Archer/Monk
Basche: Knight/ Bushi
Ashe: red/black mage
Penelope: White mage/ Uhlan
Just the other day I got my platinum trophy after beating the 100th trial. So literally THERES NO WRONG ANSWER but this video does provide a lot to avoid headaches like I’ve experienced 😅
Looked up so many builds and while they're probably all capable, I just want the jobs to suit who the character is and looks like.
The official strategy guide suggests Penelo as tank, and I'm sure it works but I just don't like it lol
I like this one. Might swap a couple and I appreciate the reassurances that almost any build can work. I'm not looking to platinum so I'll be fine probably!
I used Redmage/blackmage for Vaan, Bushi/Knight for Balthier, Archer/Uhlan for Fran, Shikari/Foebreaker for Basch, Whitemage/Knight for Ashe, Monk/Time for Penelo
I've got 6 seitengrats after watching your RNG manipulation vid and I feel like I've made my job choices almost totally pointless, I feel guilty that I'm breaking the game.
well i mean you dont have to use the bows
Use the bow only for grinding..
This was a very well done video. I havent played this game since HS but I wanted to relive the moments of one of my favorite PS2 titles. I understand that you said, several times, that any job pairing can get you through the game but your setup seems too sweet to pass up
Very interesting monk/black mage combo.
I just started playing zodiac on the switch (actually I’m 67 hours in) and I think I’m having more fun than I did when I played it over a decade ago on the ps2.
Anyways here are my jobs. They are not optimized, but it’s how I want it for now so I can always have a tank/DPS/healer
Vaan: knight/monk
He’s my sub-tank.
Baltheir: Machinist/Foebreaker DPS
Fran: Archer/Black mage DPS
Basch: Knight/Bushi main tank
Ashe: white mage/time - healer/support
Penelope: white/red -healer/support
I may respec soon, but this way the team feels different with each person, but still gives me the classic team set up of tank/DPS/healer
I always have:
ashe as a white mage/ archer
Fran as a black mage /samurai
Basch as a foe breaker / knight
That ador combo is a wickedly sick idea hell yea thanks man
I didn't know multiple characters could pick the same jobs
it took me a while to figure out a good team but I decided to leave out foebreaker cause I don't like using axes or hammers cause of the random damage and I think I picked good job placements
vaan - Knight/bushi
Basch - Bushi/Monk
Ashe - Red Battlemage/Black Mage
Fran - Uhlan/Time Battlemage
Balthier - Machinist/Archer
Penelo - White Mage/Shikari
My favorites: Vaan monk / bushi
Penelo blackmage/ time battlemage
Balthier white mage/ foebreaker
Fran shikari/ white mage
Basch knight / bushi
Ashe blackmage/ red battlemage
Here's my planned setup for longevity and end game boss takedowns:
Ashe: Bushi/Monk
Penelo: White Mage/Hunter
Basch: Foebreaker/Time Battlemage
Vaan: Red Battlemage/Black Mage
Basic strategy is buff up and berserk Ashe for max DPS, subbing in Vaan for insane spell casting if needed. What do you think?
the way I built my team was just what I thought sounded fun with each character.
vann- monk/shikari
penelo- black/ time
balthier- uhlan/ bushi
fran- red mage/ Archer
ashe- white mage/ machinist
basch- for breaker/ knight.
I plan on doing another play through but more optimized
Aaron Alarcon for the first playthrough I'm gonna pick jobs which fit the characters themes so I can enjoy the lore and story
Zeneki I played a crap ton of this game when it first released so it just like a refresher for me. I never played the Japanese release though
beat the original years ago. really thinking of getting the new version to relive some nostalgia
did you beat the original 12 or IZJS? because theres a MASSIVE difference between the original FF12 that released outside of Japan and this.
Primalliquid the original 12 released in America. games are different types but I did beat every boss available including yiaz and omega. had 152 hours I think
this game is completely different, infact lets ignore everything but the jobs. you wont have 3 characters able to do everything now. you get to choose 1 job to start with (You can unlock a second job for each character about 5 hours into the game) however these jobs you choose you have to keep. Theres no swapping mid run or anything like that meaning your characters can only use specific skills, weapon, armor, magic ect
Great video but what would your recommendations for espers and quickenings be with this setup?
Your combination looks legit, a truly power run combo. Mine will be similar.
Stat wise e1 will do at the end, but battle animation speed is matter to proc more combo with melle wep.
At the za ver, job changeable as soon as u have montblanc to talk to.
I think it would be usefull to precise that most of the usefull combination you describe is for endgame obtainable spell/equipment. And sometimes it requires a lot of farming.
I’m thinking this for my lineup when I play it. Not trying to use all jobs or min-max, just having fun.
Vaan: shikari/red battlemage
Penelo: White mage/shikari
Balthier: monk/bushi
Fran: machinist/foebreaker
Basch: knight/bushi
Ashe: Black mage/red battlemage
Thoughts?
Oh :( but I wanted Fran as a Black Mage/Archer.
That's what I used for her. Just started last week but I'm already like 20 hours in so im just gonna keep going with it. She works pretty well so far
i love the videos, but i was wondering something. as i and im sure many others are watching these as a guide to the platinum. would you be able to put a few sentences in under the video just about what/why you are doing x at x place or a tip. like when watching fighting the dustia i didnt realize for a long time you were bringing up the menu to see when the drop would come and what it was. took many many deaths in that haha. i just feel it would be very helpful to a lot. keep up the great work!
I had a similar set up, but with a few differences. I mainly use Fran, Basch and someone else, usually interchanging Ashe or Balthier depending on how my party is holding up and the boss. I don't really like or use Vaan and Penelo so their levels always trail behind the rest of the crew.
Vaan= Shikari/Bushi: Yiazmat killer with Yagyu Darkblade. No other purpose really as I don't use him.
Fran= Foebreaker/ Shikari: My personal favourite character, so I want to use her offensively and I control her. I hate controlling mages so I needed her more physical than mage or ranged.
Basch: Knight/ Bushi: Undead slayer
Ashe: Black Mage/ Monk= My mage for elemental attacks, added monk as black mage has bad hp and needs Monk's vitality, holy and some white magic hence making Ashe pretty versatile. .
Penelo:Time Battle mage +Knight=purely support with some offense. Also for Jelly farming i guess.
Balthier: White Mage/ Machinist- For Hastega, healing and some stamina/hp for my white mage.
No Uhlan which I kind of wanted to put in but couldn't find a place where. Also, no Archer or Red mage for me either
Keep in mind u can reset you boards at anytime for anyone who needs to experiment or just want a change.
Correct, but you couldnt when this video was made
@@Primalliquid92 Ahhh ok. Little late to the party. I have only just started Zodiac age after never being interested in the original back when I was a kid.
I just got back into this game via steam version... your guides are super helpful making my way thru this game.
My worst experience with this game has to be the broken tank mechanic... decoy or not, enemies just attack which ever char I control.... and the super glitchy gambit system can lead to times where all my characters are stuck in a steal or heal loop and not actually attacking the enemy.
Hello , i will share mi jobs strating with vaan - white mage-shikari , balthier- machinist-bushi, fran-black mage-foebreaker, bash archer-red battlemage, ashe-time battlemage-knight and penelo-uhlan-monk. Enjoy the game . bye bye.
I want to do Vann: uhlan,time mage Balthier:machinist,shikari Fran:archer,red battlemage Basch:foebreaker,bushi Ashe:white mage,knight Penelo:black mage,monk. It's Good?
I dont overly see the point of this. 30hrs in to the Switch version now at lvl40 roughly and i just plough through all enemies with standard attacks and decent heals.
For the main Game it doesnt matter what classes you choose, its easy as heck. Trial mode on the other hand is a different story all together especially floor 100.
@@Primalliquid92 Ah, ok. That explains it. Cheers.
Thanks for the info! Clearly a lot of thought has gone into this. My only issue with doing this myself is that my OCD wouldn't let me have Ulhan as the only job not being used... god I hate my brain. Would you recommend giving Ulhan to Vaan or Basch instead of Bushi for one of them to satisfy my silly need for all the classes to be used, or would that make either one of those characters much less useful? Also, no Ulhan, no Zodiac Spear :c
Zodiac spear is bad, theres actually quite a few weapons stronger than it.
Yeah, I've gone with the same job sets you've chosen in the end (with the exception of swapping Ashe and Penelo because I prefer Penelo as a healer for some reason) to also make my life easier with trial mode and Yiazmat. Thanks again for the upload, really helped. :)
Primalliquid just because it's not the best doesn't mean it's bad haha
have balthier as an uhlan + time battle mage.
rest in peace Zodiac Spear
This games this best remaster I've ever played
lol I've really noticed you say "however" quite a lot. It's like your catchphrase. Awesome videos man. I've just bought the game today so I was wondering which classes to choose for my new game!
haha "however" and "ok then" i seem to get called out on alot xD
My Fran is a monk/ black mage and let me tell you that combination works so well. You get a healer with strong magic attacks. A few other tips: I would avoide the archer class alltogether and white mage + machinist can work great together (the only machinist combo that makes sense)
monk/black mage should never be using healing spells. it should be dishing out damage while a white mages heals. As for your archer comment i have to disagree. Archer/red mage makes for the most powerfull spell in the game, the ability to kite and 3 swiftness nodes.
Primalliquid my monk/black mage only heals if my healer dies or my team needs urgent help. That build is for damage dealing mostly.
I still think that red mage /samurai is better than red mage/ archer and I wouldn't combine archer with any other class so I'd drop it. But that's just my opinion.
i just personally dont see a red mage/samurai being good. Theres far to much overlap on the nodes and so little synagy its basicly just gimping yourself.
Can you compare which character is fastest for each job?
no, because min maxing for attack animations like that is imo, silly the difference it makes overall is miniscule and just makes some fights a few seconds faster, if people want to min max like that, theres other guides out there already
Fran / ashe makes for the best black mage in the game with the best base stats. For whatever reason fran is best for blk mage and ashe is runner up.
with double class selection min/maxing the classes isnt needed, Infact if you min/maxed everybody you would have a terrible party with truly terrible synergy which would drastically lower the efficiency.
@@Primalliquid92 true
I want use all 12 so i have:
Vaan Knight/Bushi
Balthier Shikari/Foebreaker
Fran Time Battlemage/White Mage
Ashe Red Battlemage/Archer
Basch Uhlan/Machinist
Penelo Black Mage/Monk
Im so basic that I use jobs based on what their characters seem to be in the story.
Thank you for information 👍
I try Uhlan samurai combination for holy lance 😅 feel strong so far
Just even if old ff zodiac
Have good days 🍻👍
Nice I did
Vaan Shikari / Foe Breaker
Balthier Knight/Uhlan
Basch Shikari/Bushi
Ashe Bushi/ BlackMage
Fran Archer / Red battle mage
Penelo knight / white mage
That looks like a good combo.
Ashe's Bushi/BlackMage is the most optimal combination out of all the characters.
I would want a Time mage in there for the Hastaga.
Just bought the Zodiak age on PC so I hope it will be fun for quite a while.
Nice info. Eerily similar to what I've settled on. Only differences are that I went with foebreaker/shikari on vaan and uhlan/time mage on balthier. Purely because I wanted every class. Otherwise I probably would've skipped Uhlan. Oh, and my Ashe and Penelo are reversed, but that's whatever. Feeling more sure of my choices now, thanks!
yea its a pretty solid combination of jobs not much can really go wrong with it
Any combination works?
Archer+Knight ftw
I don't own PS4 and the game zodiac age so I'm playing the emulator for PS2 zodiac job system
I've played the original english version which i loved but then i read on how they balancing out and changing some of the things in game for zodiac job system, that I have to try it out
The issue here is, zodiac job system won't give you two jobs per character, only one, so I'm stuck all of my characters with no battlemage and no range bowmen...
Honestly, this game is a great MMORPG theme for those time (2006) when the online gaming is relatively new though the story is kinda weak and Vaan is useless for story mode, the grinding is what kept me coming
Was told burning bow +ardor combo IS good.. but only helps in a couple instances..
I’m here making my Penelo a knight for lols
I'm making vaan a shikari/foebreaker and balthier an uhlan/time battlemage. The rest is similar.
I have the monk/black mage combination on Fran. She is sick!
Can someone tell me if this would be viable for things like Yiazmat and Trial Mode?
Vaan - Knight/White Mage
Ashe - Timed Battle Mage/Red Battle Mage
Basch - Foebreaker/Bushi
Balthier - Machinist/Shikari
Fran - Archer/Ulhan
Penelo - Monk/Black Mage
great video! it helped a lot... subbed :)
Hello i just bought this game and am looking to use every job while still being a good setup. Is this a good list?
Vaan - hunter/breaker
Balthier - uhlan/time
Basch - knight/samurai
Fran - red/archer
Ashe - white/machinist
Penelo - black/monk
my team:
vaan-white mage, shikari
penelo-red mage, archer
balthier-machinist, foebreaker
fran-black mage, monk
ash-knight, time mage
bash-uhlan, samurai
How about it?))
I know, this maybe enough for passing the main plot, but is that enough to elite hunt like Yazmat or secret esper Ultima? I don t now...
Pretty much any combo is enough to take down Yazmat. There are some optimal builds that make it easier, but keep in mind Yas was doable even withouth the addition of combo licence boards, so your skill is ultimately going to matter more than builds.
I really dig White Mage and Shikari as a combo. You can give them a Main Gauche and a Shield for a very evasive healer. I think you've given me a good idea for my next run.
black mage also get white robe and hat also increase holy magic
Fantastic and well thought out! Really helpful for my playthrough
btw it would have been really helpful if you would remind us about the importance of those mist attack positions for the shikari combo, for instance. did that wrong - meaning i can now repeat my whole game if i wanna use this xD
I had a few doubt on my party composition, at first i wanted to go with vaan bushi/monk, balthier foebreaker/shikari, fran whm/mch, bash archer/ulhan,ashe bushi/knight and penelo blm/monk, but i realized that i really lack a support char in this comp.
So i decided to search for a good combination for the rbmg and i found the archer with ardent bow, etc,etc so i tried to fit it in by going with vaan bushi/monk, balthier foebreaker/shikari, fran whm/tbm, bash archer/rbm, ashe bushi/knight and penelo again bmg/monk.
I like the aggro play, and having the 3 nuker with high survivability is really juicy, but i think fran may be too squishy and since bash mag stats is absolutly horrible i don't know how well the rbm will work with him, considering i choose him for the archer because of his strenght stat.
I also think ashe with bushi/knight is a good choice, as the combo is kinda top tier because of the reciprocated benefits and ashe is the char with highest mag so with this setup she would deal a lot of damages while still having high survivability.
I accept any criticism and suggestion, so feel free to change things up and try to fit the archer/rbm in the comp
so just started the game i was a ps2 player had it finished but now its a bit different! i will use your jobs ! wish me luck! ( ofc i am going to platinum it!)
I got a question about this man, you still read comments here?
yep
@@Primalliquid92 awesome! Does it matter the order i go with first? For ex. Instead of red battlemage/archer for Fran i went with Archer first.
Great video. Very helpful.
What's your thoughts on thus job combo?
Vaan: Shikaru/Monk
Balthier: Knight/Foe Breaker
Fran: Foe Breaker/Archer
Basch: knight/bushi
Ashe: Red Battlemage/Monk
Penelo: White mage/ black mags
Penolope redmage and shikari! Godly combo!
