I like this. I like the way you've left things out and restricted your "non-focal point features by using cool colours for them, in order to allow your focal point, namely the bunting to 'shine' .
Love this. Very inspirational for my upcoming trip to Sicily. I only wish more "tutorial/example" videos would include a shot of the reference photo in the frame while drawing. That would be wildly helpful to me in understanding the process. Thank you for taking the time to show us how.
Thank you so much for sharing. I am finally facing my fear of drawing/sketching and stumbled upon your channel. How fortorious for me 🌻 Wishing you a fabulous week.
Hi Liz, Good evening from Kentucky, U.S.A. I am so excited I found your tutorials tonight on RUclips. I love your teaching method and am amazed about the results you get with drawing and painting so loosely. I have not done any urban sketching yet but I am very excited about it and look forward to learn and give it a try. I hope watching your tutorials will give me some confidence and have definitely given me the desire to go for it. Thanks you kindly and I really appreciate you sharing your talent and wisdom. Sincerely, Fran
my pleasure Fran. Urban sketching is fun and doesn’t have to be perfect. a quick sketch, however wonky, is so much better 5gan a photo. All your senses are engaged.
@Liz Chaderton I have been looking at part of my neighbors house for some time, wanting to paint it in watercolor. I think I will give it a try in this style. Without my glasses it looks like a face.
@@LizChadertonArt Thank you so much! I have a normal one and i want to start dabbling in urban sketching with watercolor so I was wondering if I could use my current one. Thank you for the info and the awesome video! Subscribing for sure!
I enjoy watching Toby Urban sketching too. Your commentary is very easy listening, with great advice. Thank you.
Toby is fab!
Great video! I especially like your choice of a pretty blue for the shadows instead of gray!
Thank you so much!

It always surprises me what you can do in a limited time! Thank you for your kind comments
I really enjoy your fast sketching videos. Thank you for taking the time to share your wisdom with us ... 🙏🏼💕
my pleasure!
I love your commentary Liz, as much as your demo with really useful tips and inspiration. Thank you for sharing - you make it look such fun!
Glad you found it useful!
Loved this video. Well done very inspiring 👍.
Glad you enjoyed it!

it is tricky to have the sketch as big as poss and fit the reference in. if I can’t, I usually pop it on the Community tab, so people can access it…
Love the thick lines around the lamp. Will definitely try this as I usually take too long over things and struggle with 'loose.' Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! The time limit really makes you cut to the chase!
@@LizChadertonArt Not sure what I'll end up with though! 😂
@@melissamortimer4457 to be honest the end point doesn’t matter. A sketch, however brief and wonky, will bring back more memories than any photo
Love your narration and running comments, as much as I love watching you draw, and your final results. ❤❤
Thank you so much! I worry that I witter too much!
I like your videos very much...definitely some thicker lines....nicely done st. scene
Thank you very much! yes, I think the lines help

You can do it! Drawing is a muscle and it gets stronger the more you use it. Even ten minutes of doodling a day will get you fitter and stronger.
LOL me too - my 2023 resolution is to learn urban sketching. Good luck :)
@@mark9349 You too 😀
Love this quick style Liz....Thank you.
You are so welcome!
Love to watch your urban sketching. Great style,, can we see more. …? Please
Yes! I will do more. Especially now the weather is getting better
Lovely demo. I avoid portraits like the plague😂 will definitely give it a go. Thx
Glad you enjoyed it

Lovely sketching 🙏🏻 as you are asking … I prefer with stronger lines 🤗 thank you for this sketch 👍💖😘
I'm glad you like it. I agree. I think varying the line adds to the image
Me too 😊
Thank you! Happy New Year🎊
Happy new year!
Loved this. Thank you
You are so welcome!
I do like the thicker lines that bring it forward.
This encourages me to give this type sketching a try. I'm way too tight.
the time limit will really force you to loosen up!

Thank you for your videos - great for a beginner like me :)
You're very welcome!
Loved your urban sketching videos. Will try it. What is the size of your moleskin sketchbook. Thanks for sharing.
It's A5 portrait. nice and small but a good size if you work across the fold
Is this a watercolor paper moleskine or just a normal one?
just a normal one, so it’s a bit thin! As long as you don’t use too much water it behaves itself

@@Oviraptor10 I’m a believer in using what you have and to just do it! Have fun
@@LizChadertonArt Definitely! Thanks again! 💖
I’m disappointed with the bunting. But otherwise it’s fab!
Disappointed in what way? Always interesting to understand.
I wanted it to pop more. It kind of just faded into everything else. Just my opinion
