This is part 3 of 3 in a series where I upgrade the sound system in my wife's Palisade's!
In this video I show how I installed a powered subwoofer under the driver's seat in the Palisade. I used the Rockford Fosgate PS-8 because it offers the most bang for the buck.

Late in the game but your wire drawing is different from the instructions. The right rear door is switched on your diagram. You have green - and orange +. What did it end up being?
I think my rear door speakers are filtered . I have the premium system with subwoofer . I did the install and couldn’t get much signal to the sub so subsequently the out put was low even with gains cranked .
I could try the front door speakers . They sound as though they are full range .
I feel like I just jacked into the matrix cos after watching this I feel I'm an expert car-audio installer.

I have a question. I got palisade calligraphy with subwoofer in Australia. Shouldnt it be easy to install subwoofer as we just need to get wire from existing subwoofer and connect the same wire to a new and bigger sub? Can someone advise

Because of how I record my audio in these movies, recording the sounds of the subwoofer would do it no justice as the audio is compressed and quality is lost.
Thanks, you made it so clear. Wondering why you have to tap both speakers? I now nothing about it I'm just curious. 2nd question, can you do 2 of this woofers and run 1 power? Assuming 1 sub per side?
I think because it’s a stereo signal so there are instances where left or right might not be getting a signal because of how the song was made?

Sorry for the stupid question but does the amp feed 150 watts of power to all of the speakers or just the sub?
Thanks for the detailed 3-part series on this install. We bought the speakers and will install those to see how they sound before jumping into the sub but I'm thinking we'll end up wanting to add it.

I only pull the signals from the rears.

You’ll have to find the front door speaker wires in the kick panel, I suspect just like the rears the front door wires are a twisted pair that match the wire color in the door.
Take a look at the installation document in the video description and see what color the front speaker wires are then start digging into the kick panel area looking for them.

Great informative Video. Question- on 2023 Calligraphy, Herman Kardon Amplifier is under the passenger seat. can i tap into there for speaker signal?
You may be able to but I am unsure of the wiring colors

What did you use to poke a hole on the rubber grommet to run the positive ground wire? Did you have to use a drill bit or is it easy enough to poke a hole by using a philips scew driver?

Where did you ground your amp? Trying to find a good spot for that at the moment

Is taking the signal from both left and right required? Could you do just one? Thinking here of using 2 woofers and then feeding left to the one bellow the driver's seat and tight below passenger's

Why would you tap the rear speakers and not the subwoofer in the back?
In that car, there is dsp ahead of the amp, sending a modified signal to each speaker location.
If you are using surround, the rears arent full range, and are likely crossed over as high-pass only.
I didn't have a factory subwoofer in this car, kind of why I am adding one in this video. This is the base stereo system.
Would it be possible to install 2 of these subs? Forgive me if i sound dumb, but i want good bass...i just don't know anything about system installs.
Possible but after you spend the money, you might as well have just purchased a more powerful sub to start with.
That said, this subwoofer is really efficient for the palisade which is why we went with it.

I’m filming my videos on a GoPro, there’s so way to record the sound and retain the overall quality.

@@WaterFowler41 I’m interested in the Jbl 620f. I just ordered them but I won’t be able to install them for the next 2 months or so. Do they have decent bass for regular speakers?
Yep they were an excellent upgrade for the base pali system. Even my wife could tell the difference
