    It's all in the details, and that's just what you showed us. I'd have gone about it the long/messy way forever without ever having realized that the middle check-box allows you to use the same setup on another layer. Thanks for sharing.

    • @ScottD
      @ScottD  5 лет назад +1

      Right!? So handy! And if you Alt+Drag the perspective icon in the layer, you can copy it to another layer! I do this in case I want to have a building (or whatever) that's a turned a little, so I can keep the same horizon as the other buildings.

  • @da5idnz
    @da5idnz 8 месяцев назад

    What I also like is that once a ruler is created (like a curve or something) and you've used it to draw a line, you can click on that Operation Tool then clicking the blue ruler symbol in the layer then you can click on the ruler to edit it and move it around. I find this good if I want the exact same curve in several places on my drawing. I can draw the curve then move the ruler someplace else and draw the same curve there.

    That concentric circle tool is awesome. A tip that I found useful was changing active ruler to green and inactive ruler to red(ish) in the prefs. Made it easier to figure out which one was on/off. Also if you hide the ruler layer it goes inactive. Thanks for the awesome vids!!

    Hey Scott, I want to share a tip for the concentric circle guide that really helped me. I draw a lot of propeller aircraft, so the circle guide is super helpful for drawing moving rotors, but I had trouble getting that guide lined up perfectly. What I found was that your can get the guide more or less where you want it, THEN go to the Object tool. Once you do that, you can manipulate the circle guide just like the perspective grid with control points! You can drag the guide somewhere else on the page, you can change the tilt, you can adjust the curves... It's awesome! It really helps with vehicles with wheels and especially multi engine aircraft.
    Seriously, you make the best Clip Studio videos! Big fan!
    seriously you have the best Clip Studio videos!

    Very good video, you go straight to the subject and it's interesting from start to end. One thing though, about the linear curve: it produces different results than using shift when the brush use randomness as a dynamic, so it has its uses sometimes.

    • @ScottD
      @ScottD  5 лет назад

      Thanks! Yeah, that's true! Usually, when I'm making a straight line with shift+click, I want a consistent thickness, but you're right, if you want some different variation and stuff, the ruler is probably the way to go. Shift+click can be a little thicker, too, since it thinks it's at, like, 100% pressure.

    • @lefrax762
      @lefrax762 5 лет назад

      @Scott Drummond Yeah exaclty! Especially with some brushes that have a very large radius and a lot of dynamic range in size. Only drawback is it's less intuitive than using shift but it's nice being able to do it.

    with concentric circles , can you have perspective apply? I've tried to find a way to off center the 3 ellipses but haven't found it. is it possible?

    • @ScottD
      @ScottD  4 года назад +1

      Good question! I can't seem to figure out a way to do it! You could always use the Direct Draw Ellipse Tool on the layer with the Perspective grid, then use the Concentric Circles Ruler to kind of try to get close, but it won't be off-center like you're wanting, I don't think.
      If you figure it out, make sure to let me know!

  • @bogatistric

    Hi, Scott, is there a way to preserve(save) perspective points and perspective ruler the way you set them up (or established) on the illustration, and to use that same points and ruler next time when you wont to work on your illustration. For example, if I have 2 or 3 PP for example they are out of my paper, so I can't mark them as dots in the illustration, so if I close CSP and come back to work on that illo next time, the points and ruler are gone, there is just a layer with name perspective ruler, but no points and ruler as I set it up, first time when I start to draw,
    and then I have to make all that again, which take some time to do, of course. Maybe my CSP not working correctly?
    Thanks very much, and sorry for my rusty English :D

    • @ScottD
      @ScottD  3 года назад +1

      Hmmmm.... That's odd. They should be saved in your file. Make sure you're saving it as a Clip Studio Paint file. If you're saving it as a PSD or something, the Perspective data will be gone because Photoshop doesn't know what to do with that data, so it's deleted.

    • @bogatistric
      @bogatistric 3 года назад

      @@ScottD
      you're right, I was saving it usually as PSD and then it came to my mind this morning too, that work should be saved as CSP file, I tried it and everything is as it should be, the rulers and perspective points are there, as before I closed the CSP :)
      Thanks very much!

    i'm confused, when i create the layer, my pen, pencil etc, doesn't stick to the ruler, even with the snap to ruler and special ruler... anyone able to help me out?

      Weird! Double check that the Tool itself lets you Snap. In the Sub Tool Detail Panel (which you can get to by clicking the wrench icon in the Tool Properties Palette), under the Correction tab, make sure "Enable snapping" is checked. Hope that fixes it! :)

    Great video! I can finally start drawing thee interiors of buildings now ha ha. Question though: what can I do instead of using the shift key when I need to make straight lines of perfect circles? The set up at my desk makes it near impossible for me to use my keyboard while I draw

      In the Tool Property Menu, if you click the Wrench in the bottom right and go to Figure, you can check the box that says Aspect Type and choose 1:1. Aspect Type might even be in the Tool Property Menu, so just check that box to get a perfect circle, and you can adjust it to get whatever oval shape you want, but 1:1 will be a perfect circle. Hope that helps!

      @@ScottD yeah probably lol. It stops everytime you start talking about the bullet points and turning the rules off and on. Maybe it's just on mobile

      Maybe once we grow the channel a little more! I don't want to start one and have it be empty for a long time. I'll probably start streaming at some point after we hit 1K subs and then maybe start a Discord after that, if people seem to enjoy it! :)

    The concentric ruler did really help out a lot to create some cool effects, thank you so much for this tutorial, I really just started using it to experiment and see what I was able to do and the extra tips you added were great
