Of all the perspective ruler tutorials I have been watching on YOU-TUBE, this is hands down the most definitive. The explanation is broken down in such a way that it is easy to grasp.
oh man that was a lot of info to take in. I'll most likely have to watch this a few more times while trying all the rulers out and follow along. Thanks for the tutorial and for giving me me new nightmare fuel in form of the Kapptapus.
Your Clip Studio tutorials are always so informative. I’ve been using it for awhile and still discover new methods from you. Very clear and concise delivery, as well as being very entertaining.
This video told me everything I wanted to know better, and more quickly than all the tutorials and official CSP guides I spent the good part of an afternoon looking up. Good job.
AMAZING! As always (with your tuts). Particularly liked 12:39... I tend to do my perspectives by hand, old school, but the technique at 12:39 can become extremely useful not only for working with references. Imagine one is drawing a building (ie, a sci-fi tower) in the middle of a city... Is not the best way to start a background scenery, lol...but imagine you did so... As is your main focus, and want all the composition to drive to that point. So, you draw at least the base lines, the masses and elements of it. Now you need to also do the rest of the entire city respecting the exact same perspective!. With the trick CSP seems to allow ( 12:39 ) , this would be a tad faster than doing it by hand. That said, seems one of the fastest methods is its 3D perspective. One old way many concept artists have used is make some boxes in Blender, Max or another 3D app, screenshot it, paste it on the drawing app, and use it as a guide, just to not actually draw the perspective lines, lol (I always saw it too cumbersome to be worth it). It seems CSP cuts again a lot of time here + adding further interaction when some change is needed, instead of loading again the 3D app, opening again the boxes scene... Kudos
Very happy to help! I was indeed very surprised that the 3D plane could help with drawings as well. That was something new to me. One of the best things about making these tutorials is how much I also get to research and learn :D
Another great tutorial! So much useful information was packed into 6" (I'm on my phone). I need to watch this a few times I think and play along to grok it all. Thank you again to the entire team (Wacom/CSP/TheOneWithA12"Bear) for this series. And thanks for replacing the mental image of Choseph with.... with.... a Cat-O-Pus?
I came to this video to learn this specific tool and ended up subscribing because I fell in love on how Sarajean makes the tutorial fun! A line drew in a paper sheet for sale at a price no one can afford= me subscribing! ^^
Thank You, SaraJean! Especially unaware of the 3D layer tip: Super-handy! And it is definitely a good idea to draw on a Vector Layer. :) Re: All those little handle thingies that show up on a perspective layer-- Is there a way to make them display larger? They are really tiny. Thanks!
I couldn't find this for the ipad version. It pisses me off that CSP charges a monthly rate for the ipad version but it lacks the features of the pc version :S
Love this tutorial, helpful and fun. Would you be able to say whether there is the ability to distribute multiple linear ruler lines evenly on a page? So, I draw several vertical ruler lines where I want to draw straight lines with my brush, but I'm approximating their locations. Can this be done with the linear ruler at all, or is there another function perhaps after I draw the brush strokes that allows me to select them all and distribute them (space them out) evenly, kinda like a vector program? Thanks!
It is great tutorial. Thank you so much. I recently started to do my art work in clip studio paint. Can you plese make the tutorial on how to add font under text tool. Thank you.
I saw you created a perspective eclipse selection, but can you create like an eclipse ruler in the perspective of the perspective ruler? Like for drawing car wheels and such
I'm not sure if anyone can answer this but for some reason my rulers are not working persay. My strokes are only semi snapping to it. And I don't know why. I got the snap on and that's all I can see. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?!
"What's even cooler is that even your selection can now be in perspective." It can WHAT?! "Same with the eclipse." I am gonna go crawl in a hole now... that I will draw in perspective...

Really appreciate the kind words! I certainly learned a lot from other already available tutorials. :D

With the ruler tools explained, I can feel its getting closer in manga/comic making for the next tutorial. So EXCITED!!

The very best, most thorough explanation....that also makes me want to acquire slimes (and measure them). Loved it!!

She is great.

All the childhood trauma came back by the way she held the ruler.
"12 inches." - that was lovely. :D

It's ASMR but also a tutorial. I love it.

Adorable. I can't believe 4 people gave you thumbs down. I guess they each ate a ruler from Taiwan and couldn't handle their metal! 😂
When drawing a figure (rectangle or circle), the shape is always snapping vertically. Is there a way to make it lie on the ground plane?
If you are measuring from his feet to the top of his head, Tom Nook is 2 inches tall.
THANK ...FULL DIDACTIC...GOOD VIDEO...

Ah yes, the eclipse shape
only 3? no 4 or 5 point perspective? even tbh that was what I was looking for. shame.
Gotta watch out for them coppa
"What's even cooler is that even your selection can now be in perspective."
It can WHAT?!
"Same with the eclipse."
I am gonna go crawl in a hole now... that I will draw in perspective...
I loved how a guide about rulers did not include a single thing about showing how to get exact angles. Bravo crap video
omg you are hilarious, i love i
Yes i am
r e g u l a r p e a s e n t.
i feel clip studio has the worst and trickiest perspective tool between other softwares
