Add me to the "been using CSP for years and never noticed the multi-layer eraser" club! I was familiar with everything else but I can already tell that alone is going to save my hiney sooo many times in the future.
I LOVE how it has an entire community that keeps making new tools and instrument to share with others, i found some brushes that are awesome, usefull and time saving
This is the best overview I've seen. Most videos I find are 20+ minutes and are more or less "how to make your brush bigger or smaller :)" and then jumping to "I just did a 15 step piece where I don't explain how I got here"
I'm a comics artist and use Vector Layers for all my inking. You can't Fill on a Vector Layer, but Reference Layers and "Area Scaling" help ease the minor inconvenience. ("Fill up to Vector Path" also helps immensely, especially when coloring.) Great video, Maddie! I'm sub'ing.
It also has a tooon of time-saving things for comic artists, since it was originally designed for them. The thing where you moved the vector lines by painting over them, was perfection
Symmetry ruler is great for doing front views for character turnarounds, making patterns etc. The perspective rulers are also really useful, but can be a bit complicated to set up the first couple of times.
Nothing bothers some artists in regards to fill tools more than when they still see other artists make art without filling in the white infilled areas like corners and the edges you mentioned
Ive been using photoshop since elements back in the late 90's/early 2ks. But with the pandemic I was forced to find a less expensive program and after playing with a friends copy of csp, i fell in love with it.
CSP is a beast if you want to dive into the sub tool details of everything, it can do everything you want when you know it inside out, which can take A LOT, but it's totally worth it. One can learn one small detail every day and incorporate it in their workflow, and do it for years
The clipping layer is a perpetual mystery to me. I do hope this time the knowledge of how to use it will stick with me. Id that’s the only thing I get from this video, it’s time well spent and worth a like.
I stumbled across your videos by searching for clip studio help videos, and I must say... your videos are some of the best if not the best tutorial videos with your pronunciation of your words perfectly used for anyone to learn and catch on. And the substance of your videos are exactly what people need to learn and catch on. thank you so much, I hope you make 1M from RUclips
I should have learned that erase multiple layer thing before I merged all my layers into one because I don't want to switch from one layer to another......
One CSP brush I’m pretty fond of is Real Wooden Pencil. As the name implies, it actually comes pretty close to the feel of sketching with a genuine pencil, especially if you’re like me and like to roll the side a bit for gradients.
god, i was JUST looking up on csp ask on how to get rid of the little white jagged lines when you use the fill tool. No one gave me a straight answer, thank you. this makes my life so much easier. I draw rather messily and i ALSO use a textured brush, same as you, so it was great to see that i dont have to painfully struggle to do flats. (because i am lazy).
OH MY GOD THANK YOU FOR ALL THESE INCREDIBLE TIPS! I'M HAVING A BLAST JUST BY HOW INTUITIVE EVERY ASPECT IT'S! One of the greatest digital artists could ever ask for and more. Thank you once again!
I have had clip studio for years and already knew all of these tips, but I still watched the video because I always enjoy seeing more artists ditch the darkness that is PS and come into the shining glory of CSP. The program has never let me down and I doubt it ever will.
Was literally just about to recommend this! I think I bought it about 4 -5 years ago, and I’ve been sent the latest updates for free - super nice! I really like the “Layout Red” pencil for sketching with - it just feels lovely to use. I think Paper Powel, Filthy Frank, and Sponge Bub are nice textured brushes.
I've been using CSP basically ever since I started digital art around 5 years ago. At one time I wasn't able to use CSP and went to search for another drawing software. I never realised how useful CSP was until I had to switch programs. CSP has some insane features and it just keeps getting better.
I used to work on CSP years ago but gave up cause I couldn't understand it much, but lately came back to it again cause I was fed up with not getting straight lines in Photoshop. I love the fact that you can stabilize the brush so that when you're making lines they don't end up wavy, but actually straight. I prefer drawing in my notebook and then scanning the pages and digitizing my sketches with CSP. Only thing I have to learn is how to paint with it cause I've been using Photoshop CS6 for YEARS, so learning how to do it on another program is tricky.
I have been using Clip Studio Paint since it was still called Manga Studio. I Love This Program! And I also love that it is NOT required to have a monthly subscription for the program, AND there are free assets we can use from other CSP artists.
I'm so excited! Getting my Pro version tomorrow to start out, but definitely looking forward to upgrading to the EX version as I grow with this! Thank you for this video and the useful tips!
I would like to see more on making selections and fills. Overall I think your videos are great and you present them in a friendly and approachable way.
Excellent run through some of the features, learnt a load of things, thanks for sharing. Gradient tool is always a favourite and the time-lapse feature which is super useful for tutorials etc
CSP is a Beast! Every time I watch another vid, I discover something else! I didn't even KNOW about the erase on multiple layers thing! My faves are the timelapse feature and the animation tools. Plus the brushes are amazing!
I’ve been a traditional artist for a long time but I’m in my late 30s and I realized that I needed to switch to digital at some point. Although I’d heard Procreate was the easiest to learn on. I don’t use Apple products, so I bought a new Samsung pen tablet and a CSP subscription and their little tabmate thing. It’s cost me a pretty penny to invest in it all and I’ve been having the hardest time with being overwhelmed with all the tools in front of me. CSP was almost TOO functional for me. I got Ibis Paint just to practice on and try to learn how pen tablet sketching and line art and pen pressure works and some basics. Then I switched back over to CSP and while I’m still really struggling, i can now appreciate how incredible and professional CSP is and how much it’s capable of. Since switching to digital my art style has changed drastically because I’m able to now create things I couldn’t in traditional art without buying tons and tons of expensive materials and with CSP it’s all just… there. For me. In every and any color. And I’ve also found that digital just doesn’t help with my traditional style… at least I haven’t found a good flow yet, but I am loving experimenting. Thanks for all your videos and shorts. You’ve been an invaluable resource for learning CSP and I hope they give you a sponsorship. I know they recently put something out about something akin to brand ambassadors, and I know you e done more for me learning than anything CSP has on their site. ❤ thank you, really and truly
Thank you!! I'm glad my videos have been helpful. ❤️ And yeah I feel that, especially about digital not really translating to traditional style or skills.
Im thrilled by how this looks having tried others like you ,I need something thats going to be more flexible for backgrounds and this seems like itll work so thanks
One of my favourite tools in CSP, is the correction layer gradient. Its sooo much fun playing around with te gradients and I often find it a good way to change the colour of something in my piece. Thank you for making this video, I learned some new stuff!
What a great video! I've learned a lot even if I already know CSP😂 I really love the watercolor brush that's just stunning, no software makes it so satisfying as CPS
I love this! I've been using the software for a while and there's still stuff I didn't know like the bucket tool settings, thank you for this video! Also your voice is very sweet
OHMYGOD FINALLY SOMEONE EXPLAINS HOW TO FILL OUT THE GAPS!😭😭😭😭😭yes to all of these tips. I’m a newbie to digital art in general so videos like these are total lifesavers!
I have another video for beginners out on my channel right now, and a second "intermediate tips" video currently being edited so keep a lookout for that!
I just recently made the switch from Photoshop into clip studio without even looking back once!! Your tip about the 3d model for posing left my jaw on the floor. I don't know why I didn't switch sooner!! My workflow has been cut down easily by half! No joke! Love this program!!!!
This is awesome thank you! I am pretty new to digital art as I started about 5 months ago with Photoshop. But just yesterday I downloaded CSP cause I wanted to try something else and heard this may be better for line art. Although I am familiar with a few features from PS,. there is a lot going on in CSP that I wasn't sure of. So far really loving the 3D model thing... as I am still finding anatomy and proportions in people to be pretty difficult. Anyway thanks so much I am going to go and play with some of these features now!
i just recently found a way to have multiple refs! i dont know if you've got the answer or not but basically just make a new file and put all your reference there! then just drag the reference "tab" to a free space and it'll be like sub view
I love that you can use the sub tool to show another piece of art you are working on, like a comic, so you can use it for making sure the colors are correct.
thank you so much for this amazing video ! ive learned so much, you're so effective at explaining all of this stuff i thought was too complicated for me to use.. thank you !
Thank you so much for making this video. I am still new to CSP and having trouble where to start learning the feature. Your video helping me to mastering the CSP. Already subscribe your channel!
thank you for the video!! i am pleased to have learned something new. i always appreciate more intermediate to advanced feature videos because there are honestly too many beginner tutorials. i always feel talked down to in most ""intermediate to advanced"" videos that just talk about clipping masks and other basic features. i already have an understanding of the program which is why i clicked an 'advanced' tutorial. this video is refreshing!!!
Even more tools in Part 2!! ruclips.net/video/6t1mcTAmx5I/видео.html
i'm late to the party but thank you
I have been using CSP for a long time ago, I didn't know about "Erase on Multiple Layers". Thank you.
Glad this video was helpful!! It blew my mind when I found out about that tool too 😅
Yes. This information was a blessing. Thank you
Same here, I even considered my self an expert on CSP but never noticed the Erase multiple layers.
Add me to the "been using CSP for years and never noticed the multi-layer eraser" club! I was familiar with everything else but I can already tell that alone is going to save my hiney sooo many times in the future.
@@madameberry I spent like 20 mins last week hunting down one single aberrant dot on one layer amongst 50! This is a lifesaver!

THANK YOU I WAS WONDERING HOW TO FIX THE FILL BUCKET AREA
I'm new to CSP so this is a HUGE help. Thank you RUclips recommendations and thank you for making this video!
Ive been using photoshop since elements back in the late 90's/early 2ks. But with the pandemic I was forced to find a less expensive program and after playing with a friends copy of csp, i fell in love with it.
AI colorizing is also neat if you need to quickly color whole scene in the background
Ah, I completely forgot about that! I use it all the time to make color mockups for traditional paintings.
Is there a right way to use it? For me it normally doesn’t stick to the lines and ruins colors
It does the same for me. It's not perfect and it's not meant as the final coloring.
CSP is a beast if you want to dive into the sub tool details of everything, it can do everything you want when you know it inside out, which can take A LOT, but it's totally worth it. One can learn one small detail every day and incorporate it in their workflow, and do it for years

i found out about clipping masks last year (after trying digital art for 5 years) and it changed my world haha
Where did you live all this time? Under a rock on Bikini bottom 🤣

Seriously, your style is BEYOND beautiful. How are you not more popular!?!? Subscribed.
Aww thank you!! 😊

1. Even as a CSP used since it was manga studio, I didn't think about making a ribbon brush. neat. 2. I love your hair! 3. I'm going to share this!
I need to learn how to actually *make* a ribbon brush, the ones I have are downloaded. And thank you!! ☺️
Thanks, I'd never know how easier my workflow could ever be without this video. :)
There's a part 2 available as well!
Ok but about brushes…
…if you haven’t used Frenden’s brush pack, you haven’t lived.
That's. So many brushes. Why is it so many brushes XD
@@madameberry varaiety! So many style possibilities !
Agreed, can't live without them. Best brushes I've ever used in any drawing program and I own an ungodly number of brushpacks over the years 😅
