FInally, here's the new YT ART School episode! This one was a beast to put together and probably a bit overkill for RUclips (could'Ve easily been a paid course lol) but we're celebrating 600k subscribers so what the hell! I'm grateful for all of you and that's how I show my love
Thank you so much for your content Marc! Hey sorry if someone has ask before, but would you do How to sketch better or cleaner? I’m still in traditional, and my sketches can be pretty dirty When i try to make the lineart, thank you again for all your vídeos! You’re awesome!
I agree, especially the textures of the walls (exterior and interior ones) and interior lighting! Vegetation isn't too bad for me but man do I struggle coloring anything manmade.
A city background day and night seems tough. One in the rain with neon signs everywhere. All the reflective surfaces and points of view. I’d love to see how something like that is done
Reflections are all about flipping your layers and transforming them to match your perspective. It's good to practice this with simple oceanscapes, and add structures in the water to get used to adding depth. Tell me how it goes.
I’m going to be simple this time: To get the brush to drag the shape like in Photoshop in CSP, just turn the Color Stretch in Color Mixing in the Ink section all the way up. You can thank me later; get painting! I just painted a forest and this advice is so helpful! I also used these in conjunction with the MA Brushes.
As a person focused mostly on character art, I appreciate that You've grabbed this - quite exotic - topic in such a simple and informative way. Maybe it's the time to place drawn characters in some more complex enviroments (well, at least more than simple color gradient or blank space).
i used to hate my art so much because i couldnt draw a good bush. i always thought it was skill issue and would spend forever trying to get what i imagined in my head onto the art i was working on but it never worked. this changed my life. i feel so happy to be drawing again and really feel like I can keep improving! thank you!!
It is my dream to make landscapes like these... I love making nature scenes like these. Thank you for making this and showing level 1 and level 2 techniques. I will definitely practice with these tips!
ngl this kind of blew my mind. Environments always looks so intricate and complicated, seeing them broken down into a couple of simple elements? *chef kiss* Amazing.
Sire Marc's intros have been gold. Actually, his video's edits have reached a level beyond mastery and humor. It is also a great journey to see how this channel evolved all throughout 11 years.
This gives me legitimate hope that I can learn how to properly paint backgrounds for my art pieces! I love how you explained everything in a simple way that makes it seem way less daunting. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I'm definitely gonna try practicing my own backgrounds!
Our man puts his life on the line everytime to bring up this wonderful tutorials to us. Even hiding in a peaceful vegetation and foliage isn't safe for him.
I found this video because I'd gotten a commission to do a full scene with a nature background and everything. It's been actual years since I'd done one of these and I started putting the commission off because the idea of doing it was so overwhelming. RUclips put this in my recommended and I thought "Why not maybe it will help." And it did! You are doing gods work
You weren't kidding Marc, I actually pulled off an environment in my first try. (FYI I've never even considered doing BG before) I feel like Marc deserves more credit Since he's giving these info for FREE and the Effort he puts into these Tutorials. You have my dying respect Sir! I wish you the Best.
Thank you so much for this knowledge and for the free brushes. I find so hard and I struggle A LOT in drawing/painting landscapes and scenaries because I never know where I need to put the things to look more realistic and ''possible'', I end up just copying photos. I will practice right now.
THATS SO COOL! HONESTLY, plus with the individual layers of foreground, middle, and background layers make this one background reusable if you just swap stuff sometimes!!! That blew my mind
I watched this in ×2, and within 8 minutes I felt confident enough to illustrate decent-looking environments using these essential concepts I had not considered.
Oh hey Marc! Its a random lad that follows your content for quite some time. I just wanna say thanks for all these videos you have posted into this channel you have reminded me how wonderful the world of art truly is. Im motivated to actually study the art in a new way of sight all thanks to you. This up coming month my drawing tablet is coming in about a week cant wait to digitally draw for real.
I would definitely be interested in more landscapes, outdoors but vast variety. Like oceans, lakes, islands, floating islands, rocks etc. Thanks a bunch! Teacher!
This is groundbreaking for everyone wanting to learn how to create these goddamn landscapes.. it’s so hard to find good tutorials like this one. Amazing Marc!
To the person reading this May the stresses in your life melt away and may you find complete peace. Remember to take a moment to yourself and find something to put your mind at ease. MENTAL HEALTH IS IMPORTANT AND YOU ARE IMPORTANT! May your future bring you nothing but peace and blessings! 💕
I really wanna draw a peaceful forest scene someday. But for now I just keep staring at and taking pictures of trees on my way to work and back like a tourist :D Congrats on the 600k! :)
So helpful, and right on time as I've been studying composition lately! Would love to see other sorts of environments as well, interiors, cityscapes, and I'd absolutely love some pointers on how to create skies and light for different times of the day!
the end was cool panning between the backgrounds. would be good for some RPG random battles like RPG maker, or when talking to an NPC in the different areas
The way your videos are so timely honesty beats me Marc. I just started on environments over the weekend and voila! Marc has a video on environment Monday morning 🤣🤣
I love modular techniques for building things. Especially when dealing with animation. It saves so much time where you would be having to painting lots of different backgrounds.
Thank you so much, I’m someone who mostly draws characters and struggles a lot with backgrounds. Im trying to learn and this video was super helpful :]
Ooooo you know what, I'd really love to see how you tackle cave environments, both natural caves and caves with man-made structures in them to see the difference in texture and how to integrate them together
it's my first time seeing this guy and he has good vibes lol Thank you for this video, I've been trying to find landscape tutorials that are easier for me to follow

should I try this??
I am a HUNDRED PERCENT interested in other kinds of environments especially interiors. It would be amazing if you could make tutorials on those!
I agree a lot! While all it is is just perspective, I think it’s very important
Interiors 👍👍
Especially on textures
I agree, especially the textures of the walls (exterior and interior ones) and interior lighting! Vegetation isn't too bad for me but man do I struggle coloring anything manmade.
I 100% agree. Please more environments and interiors
The intros are getting better and better, I love his sense of humor

Thank you! I wanna try this out. I know clip studio paint just did a massive brush update so I wasn’t sure how these would work
I don't know how to drag the brush's shape in Photoshop. Can you tell me? I can't it anywhere either
Do you know how to do it on Procreate? :3
Glad this came out when I’ve started trying to do more environments
Sameee, its like the entire community and Marc are synced 😳👏

I was struggling with a commission with a forest and this video helped me a lot! Thank you.
As someone who has hardly any experience with drawing environments/backgrounds, this was very helpful! Thank you.
This is one of those... like first, watch after videos.
The simple advice to switch from a mixer brush helped me so much ! thank you Marc for your tips !
All those beautiful landscapes have made me attain the nirvana stage
The mixing and matching different planes blew my mind!

Thanks for the lesson. I have difficulties painting fantasy/ ancient villages and cities.
This was a remarkable video that helped me understand all the components I was missing in my own environmental art. You’re a godsend!
I watched this in ×2, and within 8 minutes I felt confident enough to illustrate decent-looking environments using these essential concepts I had not considered.
