I agree. I like how the words are new for each song. I also like this one in particular because of how it's shaped from Gerudo Valley, which is one of my favorite Zelda songs.
I really like how whenever Ganon said the word "King", it was cut out of a block, as if to show that it was just a title, with no substance to it. Nothing more than an empty word. Not sure if this was intentional, though having been with the channel for a while now I think it's quite likely.
Yeah that was a nice touch, but there is one thing I don't really get. Many of the other scenes feature rocky terrain and lava, implying it takes place near death mountain or some other volcano. Wouldn't it make more sense for the scenery to be more like gerudo desert, where Ganondorf grew up?
David Blaze maybe, but this is all about the climatic battle toward the end of OOT, which takes place in Hyrule Castle, which Ganondorf has corrupted and suspended above lava and obsidian, which is exactly what we see animated.
I was hoping there would be a bigger mention of Ganon's motive for taking Hyrule. I mean other than being power hungry. Wind Waker reveals that the reason he choose Hyrule of all kingdoms to conquer was because of it's wind. The wind that howled in the desert, be it hot or cold, brought only death. However the gentle breeze across the plains of Hyrule was kind to everyone. In his own words he "coveted that wind".

He really didn't have a choice in the matter. Demise's curse made sure of that.

@@RoobySwirl sorry not true ganon is evil, he wants to plunge the world into darkness as stated in every game, you cant describe him as not evil because he is literally the reincarnation of demise
Amanda Carmen yet Wind waker ganondorf would be the least evil of all the ganondorfs that have been reincarnated, he wanted to save his kind sure he did evil things but he kinda had to as no king is gonna let some stranger take a godly power for free lol but of course he could of things the longer and harder way but that would lead to the gerudo dying while hes waiting to the triforce peacefully. Ganondorfs intention especially in WW were good but he did evil acts. Another thing to note is ganondorf could have killed WW Link and Zelda/Tetra twice or three times. Ganon let link go and the second time he hurt link but nothing to bad same with tetra or zelda he just knocked her out during that time as he saw the wisdom piece there. And then the final battle and bed scene he could of killed Zelda anytime there or in the final battle instead of idk cutting her limbs or her herself he just slaps her to the point if knockout instead of actually crippling her to the point of no battle. All ganondorf wanted in WW was the triforce to save his people from death, he had good intentions but did evil acts but he wasn’t entirely evil as the other ganondorfs
It's so interesting to me that Ganondorf tells Link, "you could never understand how it feels to be alone," even though Link was treated like an outcast all his life for being the only Kokiri without a fairy.
But he was never alone. He always had multiple people on his side, backing him up physically and emotionally. Both Saria and the Deku Tree explicitly favored him even before the events at the start of Ocarina of Time. Ganon had... malevolent spirits of spite and vengeance, and that's literally all.
@@dontmisunderstand6041 Ganondorf was king of the Gerudo since birth, and the Twinrova raised him as their son. I'm very interested in stories where the hero and villain have similar backgrounds, and it lead one to evil and one to righteousness.
@@sarebear1800 Like I said... malevolent spirits of spite and vengeance. As for his status... how many people do you imagine have a meaningful personal connection to their monarch?
@@dontmisunderstand6041 The Gerudo aren't spirits, they're just people. I can't speak for personal connection, since I've never had a monarch, but the leader of a kingdom is hardly an outcast.
@@sarebear1800 ... Koume and Kotake are the malevolent spirits. For the record here, you're doing a good job at proving his point. "You could never understand how it feels to be alone." Not just Link, but basically everyone else. Including you, the audience. You can't even *conceptualize* it, that's how foreign it is for you.
this is a beautiful song that gives hints of Ganondorf's past and how he felt living as a king of an already fallen country. i think that the legend of zelda franchise might end when Ganondorf successfully gets all 3 of the tri-force only to lose to a chipped piece of the master sword that was left their from either the present link or one/all of the past ones
Silver arrows are the chipped master sword while the magical sword is the depowered skyward sword. This is fake info, but Skyward Sword was really trying to push that as a fact.
Gary Morrison The Master Sword can't break. That's one of the main points in Zelda lore. Having a shard of it would be impossible. Sorry, but I just thought I should point it out. Not trying to be rude or anything.
I would love the fact that if the final game in the timeline it ended with link stabbing Ganon with the master sword and then Ganon destroyed the master sword in his final breaths before dying off forever ending Demise's curse forever finishing the cycle.
This song is basically built of echoes to previous songs from the album. "The same old boy from the same old house"-- the first line from "Same Old Forest". "Now I don't mean to alarm you"-- "Time to Go". The chorus has the Gerudo Valley theme just like "Shell". "You heed the ever-sounding call" is a line from "Twisted". "Called you the hero of our time"-- Take a wild guess. "You're just a thief, took what is mine"-- "Hands of a Thief". From verse 2, "And now I need my, I need my room to fly" is another call-back to "Same Old Forest". And finally (other than what you pointed out), you can hear backing vocals in the last chorus sing the chorus of "Same Old Forest" in counterpoint. This song is amazing.
This song is not only Ganon's "Reason you Suck" Speech to Link for defying him and "stealing" the Triforce of Courage. This is Ganondorf's view of the vicious cycle Demise has trapped them all in.
I thought this said "have the urge to fight" at first and totally agreed lol Not anyone random mind you... just point me towards ganon and I'll give it a shot :D
I side with Ganondorf, actually. He rejects the gods of Hyrule in all their hubris and vanity, their absence and apathy. Yes, even Demise, who lurks in his soul. His is a belief in humanity being in supreme control. "You can't see it. FOR YOUR GODS DESTROYED YOU." "Everything I do, I do for my people..." The dudes a martyr.
when you put it like that, I cannot deny that Ganondorf may have had a "just" cause if you look at it with a certain perspective, but that's it. perspective. it rules all. why do you think people root for the antihero in games/animes/books? it's because of perspective. because he's the 'main character', everything he does s right and everything done against him is 'wrong' going by that logic, It is perfectly possible for a game about gannondorf to come about wherewe all see gannon as protagonist and link as the big villian. (I think it would be cool if what we did was design the dungeons link had to complete)
I just like how this song ends. Ganon: My praises you will - I will be your king Link: You'll never be my king! Just like in Shell. The chorus ends with the line "His praises you shall sing." except the final chorus where it is "His praises you shall--" Link is always fighting Ganon for the sake of Hyrule!
you should make a video about how awesome nates songs are BTW I love you actually that came out a little strong and supporting someone else's channel on yours is kinda weird maybe just give him a slight nod in one of your other videos and keep up the awesome work
Going back and listening to this album almost two years after it’s release will really make you realize what you missed the first few times you listened to it. For instance, the most obvious reference to “Time to Go” in the chorus’ melody, among other references to songs in the album, but what really intrigues me is the hidden (or rather just drowned out) Link appearance near the end singing the chorus of the first song in the album, drawing on the support and love he received as a child. Very clever, mate. Very clever indeed.
Patrik Hajdúch It's still the right game. Even though Ganon isn't on all fours, his Pig-like form would still be considered Beast Ganon. At least, that's how I always categorized him.
I love this song and how it has parts from all the other songs in the album plus cant help but see other version of ganon and link just switching between them in the lyrics
One kind of plot I think would be interesting for a Zelda game is if ganondorf actually had some sort of relation to link but he was forced to become evil
I think the most likely scenario is Ganondorf being Link's mentor, but turning evil and not entirely because of power; Ganondorf turns evil specifically because he knows Link is fated to one day face him, that fate will pit them against one another someday and by embracing his darkness, Ganondorf subsequently makes it easier for Link to fulfill his destiny and rise from student to master by defeating Ganondorf. Despite being fated to fight one another, in this one tale of the never ending cycle, Ganondorf defies fate by being able to see his student grow from a boy to a man, making him proud to be his teacher and denying the hatred of Demise that persists from legend to legend. Since both Link and Ganondorf use sword techniques, it isn't farfetched; it should be made that Ganondorf uses a trident until their final battle, where he switches to using the same sword he used before becoming corrupted. The dynamic between Ganondorf's will to be his own individual instead of driven by a constant cycle of death and rebirth driven by the past legends should switch once in awhile, demonstrating Ganondorf's struggles to remain himself rather then what Demise's hatred wants him to be. Might be a bit reaching though, I just think it sucks to be stuck in a cycle.

This video reminds me of how for all Ganon's evil, he himself is a victim of an evil not his own. Hyrule can never experience true peace until Ganon, Link AND Zelda are finally shown mercy and put out of their unknowing misery.
Having heard the rest of the songs on the album, I can fully appreciate how great this song is as a culmination of all the other songs with references to most every other song on the album using both lyrics and composition.
Ganondorf the man who no matter what must become evil and do evil things even if people don't understand Zelda a reincarnated goddess who must reincarnate to do battle with that evil Link a man who either by a curse from evil or a wish from a goddess to her ever loyal champion must rise up to fight evil Each one cursed in a never ending conflict a tale of love loss and pain until all are freed of their curses they shall never be allowed to rest Ganondorf curse of hatred must be broken with love Zelda with letting go of what she holds dear Link to lay down his weapon and allow his spirit to find peace instead of the endless conflict
I've ben listening to this entire playlist nonstop for days, and my favorite thing about this song is still how it references all the songs have come before it. "The same old boy from the same old house" "Now I don't mean to alarm you" "The hero of our time" "My paraises you will sing..." And then that last line that brings the album full circle and ends where it started: with Link. I just...good gosh. A+ songwriting all the way through here.
That Gerudo entwined in this just gave me shivers. This is freaking awesome. The quotes and actual full on story overlaying with this was just amazing.
"You could never know what it feels like to be alone" Omg I just though of something, Link was an outcast to the Kokiri, and Ganondorf was basically an outcast, they just handled it two different ways
I like the part when you made it say. " THESE TOYS ARE TO MUCH FOR YOU" from the legend of Zelda Ocarina Of Time I have that game and I love it if been playing ever since I was 5
i love this! when i first started playing the Legend of Zelda games i never really took much thought of Ganondorf's own past and character much as i was much younger but for some reason now that i am older and i understand more things i see that he has quite an in depth character, especially some of the things revealed in Wind Waker about his motives for taking over Hyrule. i really need to get back into this series its been far to long since i played any of them. im so happy there are covers for it! this is a dream come true!
Holy frick, that guitar, that VOICE ESPECIALLY 1:01 OMG! Flashbacks to the first time I ever found you, with Nightmare, which gave me chills...I feel exactly the same way with this song, chills included. holy frick this guy is good!! Your best song yet, Nate.
The background at 1:13 sounds really similar to the opening of Nate's cover of I Just Can't Wait To Be King . . . wait a second... That song was about children looking forward to adulthood... This song is about adults looking back on their childhood... NATE YOU ARE A MUSICAL GENIUS
"You could never understand how it feels to be alone." *Breath of the Wild comes out, Link has some of the least readily-available interaction in the series and is typically portrayed in fan works as being a lonely, depressed mess*
I love this album because it’s constantly referencing / reprising lines to fit the story, all leading up to this song, reprising and repeating without taking from Ganondorf’s intent. It’s actually a masterpiece.
Interestingly enough. Before I even knew who performed this song or what it originates from, I saw it in tribute videos. One for Doctor Doom and one for Jafar. And it was today when I learned this is a cover of Gerudo Valley. I never noticed.

This song legitimately does not get old.
this is a beautiful song that gives hints of Ganondorf's past and how he felt living as a king of an already fallen country. i think that the legend of zelda franchise might end when Ganondorf successfully gets all 3 of the tri-force only to lose to a chipped piece of the master sword that was left their from either the present link or one/all of the past ones
Gary Morrison Well if I'm not mistaken, Ganon has had all tree pieces in Link to the Past.
Justin Eclipse *three
I would love the fact that if the final game in the timeline it ended with link stabbing Ganon with the master sword and then Ganon destroyed the master sword in his final breaths before dying off forever ending Demise's curse forever finishing the cycle.
I am I the only won that's listened to this song non stop?? This song is freaking amazing!!!!
one*
Gill Fish O my god... Thank you X'D I was so excited I forgot how to spell
+fictional_mind_1517 only 700 repeats so far
no you're not
Not at all :P
at the end Ganon says "my praises you will sing". In shell, Twinrova says "the dark lord and king's praises you"'ll sing". Well played nate.
I love how Nate added the "they tell me boy, you'll find yourself, and until then" from same forest. At the end of the song
NateWantsToBeYourKing
This comment is way, way, way too under-rated. It's so good that you deserve to be the king of this comments section.
Gotta say, I’m okay with that
Yep there's my kink
The problem with listening to your music at school, is that I have to fight the urge to sing the lyrics.
Same
Same
SAMMMMMMMMMME
I thought this said "have the urge to fight" at first and totally agreed lol
Not anyone random mind you... just point me towards ganon and I'll give it a shot :D
@Cole Griffith Now that takes true Courage!
I love how the chorus calls back to the hero of our time much like ganondorf and link are connected
Another very interesting detail is how the final chorus makes callbacks to "Same Old Forest" which can be heard in the background
Now I don't mean to alarm you but this song is too awesome for you
DevilBoss Ryan this is probably my fav Zelda song because I've only played Twilight Princess
DevilBoss Ryan and I wish it was the background music for all the boss fights
Bonnie Fnaf Twilight Princess is my favourite game ever and the only zelda game Ive beaten
So much Noobnes in the answers of One Comment xDDD
@@Hamajii Yeah, I thought the whole "hero of our time" line would have made it clear that this is about OoT.
the title looks like 'Nate wants to battle the evil king,' go ahead Nate, you battle that evil king
lol yep XD
Jared Prather **slowly clapping** yes
+TrueTampur Well he is some kind of King.
Pyron 5 BLESSSS
the evil king vs the music king. who will win?
I say Nate.
Id like a Zelda game where you play as Ganondorf. Something like prequel to Ocarina of Time that tells the story of him growing up with the Gerudo.
Oooo that would be cool :3
Basically, the Gannondorf story of Hyrule Warriors?
it would be a hentai game
I side with Ganondorf, actually.
He rejects the gods of Hyrule in all their hubris and vanity, their absence and apathy. Yes, even Demise, who lurks in his soul. His is a belief in humanity being in supreme control.
"You can't see it. FOR YOUR GODS DESTROYED YOU."
"Everything I do, I do for my people..."
The dudes a martyr.
when you put it like that, I cannot deny that Ganondorf may have had a "just" cause if you look at it with a certain perspective, but that's it. perspective. it rules all. why do you think people root for the antihero in games/animes/books? it's because of perspective. because he's the 'main character', everything he does s right and everything done against him is 'wrong'
going by that logic, It is perfectly possible for a game about gannondorf to come about wherewe all see gannon as protagonist and link as the big villian. (I think it would be cool if what we did was design the dungeons link had to complete)
I can just imagine Ganondorf and Link singing this in a musical in my head now.
The funny thing is I don't like musicals. But since it's LoZ I'd probably watch it anyway.
same here
I would love to watch this as a musical, seriously I would. I love musicals and LoZ so this would be like a dream come true.
DarkMirria1 yeah
DarkMirria1 Oml YES
I just like how this song ends.
Ganon: My praises you will - I will be your king
Link: You'll never be my king!
Just like in Shell.
The chorus ends with the line "His praises you shall sing." except the final chorus where it is "His praises you shall--" Link is always fighting Ganon for the sake of Hyrule!
I want the final "YOU'LL NEVER BE MY KING!!" to end on the sword clash between Link and Ganon in Twilight Princess or maybe one of the many head stabs
Well considering this is based on ocarina of time I'm assuming it would better fit the ganondorf battle there
I love the last lyrics! I'd like to think it's Link saying "you'll never be my king"
+Collective of Chaos i imagine him putting up two middle fingers now
+Minisly Games XD that's perfect

Only half ? He is for ALL my playlist...

Imagine taking on Beast Ganon with this theme...
I have not gotten that far in the game but this song would fill me with *_Determination!_*
Wrong game m8
Patrik Hajdúch
It's still the right game. Even though Ganon isn't on all fours, his Pig-like form would still be considered Beast Ganon. At least, that's how I always categorized him.
+CrimsonEbonyTears I meant the comment referencing undertale
Patrik Hajdúch
Ah.
such an epic moment xD the song just ended right as i finished ganon off "you'll never be my king" does a finishing blow
I love this song and how it has parts from all the other songs in the album plus cant help but see other version of ganon and link just switching between them in the lyrics

One kind of plot I think would be interesting for a Zelda game is if ganondorf actually had some sort of relation to link but he was forced to become evil
that would be very interesting
That would be a very interesting and refreshing concept for a Zelda game, and honestly I think it makes this song sound that much more awesome.
+Minronis I would buy that game in a heartbeat
@minronis
that is impossible, Ganondorf is pure evil.
he was never a good person.
I never got into Zelda, but this song makes me want to!! So frickin awesome!!!!!

PLAY THE GAMES
+Adam O Donoghue Is ocarina of time good?
+SunTheGoldenRedPhoenix Seven Imo, yes! Nintendo is releasing Ocarina of Time 3D as a Nintendo Select for 20 Dollars this month actually.
After OoT3D, play Majora's Mask 3D.
Not sure what you should play after that. I've only played OoT3D and MM3D tbh.
+SunTheGoldenRedPhoenix Seven I say it's overrated, but definitely a good start if you want to try getting into the series.
I'd also recommend Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.
This is my favorite song in the album, it's fantastic that it's a mix of every previous song with even more things added, fantastic work Nate.
Nate never stop making these songs about legend of Zelda you are a true god and a true king
InfiniteGaming Nate is
(He kinda did)
He is not a god endless he is like Lynaru or the other two gods that made Hyrule and you better listen to me because I'm brother and sister whith Sidon and Mipha and Ruto
HE WILL NEVER BE MY KING!!!
Zant would like to know your location
This video reminds me of how for all Ganon's evil, he himself is a victim of an evil not his own. Hyrule can never experience true peace until Ganon, Link AND Zelda are finally shown mercy and put out of their unknowing misery.
This song gets stuck in my head and I find myself back here for the 40th time.. Damn its greatness!! haha
+Inkcorperated Records for me too i even made a remix of it about me taking down the swedish leader :P
It's okay. As of this comment, it's my 361st time...
Inkcorperated Records
I’ve listened to all the songs, and this one, out of them all, is my absolute favorite.
Sounds like Gerudo Desert but i love this song Nathan DO MAJORAS MASK
Jackattack2016 that's the point, is that it's music put to Gerudo Desert
Spencer Olson *lyrics
Having heard the rest of the songs on the album, I can fully appreciate how great this song is as a culmination of all the other songs with references to most every other song on the album using both lyrics and composition.
This song is awesome, and I love how at a few bits it sounds like the Gerudo Valley. Also, this is perfect for Ganondorf!!!
This needs to be on the radio. jesus man.
83.6 Natewantstiradio station
Yes! Love this song. Love the echoes of previous songs in it!
Its 2023 and the Evil King is BACK!!!
This is just so great! I really like the words, 'You're just a theif, took what is mine!' and at the end, 'You'll never be my king!'
This song just popped on my pandora and i have to say how amazing it is. I really love how the Ganon sound effect is implemented.
So I'm confused.... why doesn't Nate have more subs?
Can't believe I'm just now discovering this masterpiece!
Ganondorf the man who no matter what must become evil and do evil things even if people don't understand
Zelda a reincarnated goddess who must reincarnate to do battle with that evil
Link a man who either by a curse from evil or a wish from a goddess to her ever loyal champion must rise up to fight evil
Each one cursed in a never ending conflict a tale of love loss and pain until all are freed of their curses they shall never be allowed to rest
Ganondorf curse of hatred must be broken with love
Zelda with letting go of what she holds dear
Link to lay down his weapon and allow his spirit to find peace instead of the endless conflict
all because of Demise
I've ben listening to this entire playlist nonstop for days, and my favorite thing about this song is still how it references all the songs have come before it. "The same old boy from the same old house" "Now I don't mean to alarm you" "The hero of our time" "My paraises you will sing..." And then that last line that brings the album full circle and ends where it started: with Link.
I just...good gosh. A+ songwriting all the way through here.
That Gerudo entwined in this just gave me shivers. This is freaking awesome. The quotes and actual full on story overlaying with this was just amazing.
OMG THAT GERUDO VALLEY TUNE THOUGH IT WORKS SO WELL I AM IMMEDIATELY OBSESSED!!!
Oh my goodness I just noticed that. Nice touch!
Ganondorf in this song: ultimate badass
Ganondorf in the game: Wii sports tennis
I listen to this song in school and I have to restrain myself from shouting and singing along with the lyrics because this is _such_ a powerful song.
"You could never know what it feels like to be alone" Omg I just though of something, Link was an outcast to the Kokiri, and Ganondorf was basically an outcast, they just handled it two different ways
I never realized how well this fits not just Ocarina of Time, but Fable as well.
So Nate, first off, great song, second of all, I love how it combines sounds from the other songs on the album, it's really interesting
Link, the hero of OUR time, please defeat the evil king, or we Will be grounded forever!
I like the part when you made it say. " THESE TOYS ARE TO MUCH FOR YOU" from the legend of Zelda Ocarina Of Time I have that game and I love it if been playing ever since I was 5
One of Nate's best videos to me. Great tone and I never get sick of listening to this.
Attaboy Nate Attaboy. Solid solid. Now That is perfection.
Awesome. So awesome. It screams "Final Battle" or "I am the final boss! This is were it ends! This is the final stand!"
(edit) SO FREAKING POWERFUL!
"You'll never be my king"
I don't know what you guys think, but that ending was the best for the album
My friend got me to listen to this song a few months ago, and it's still stuck in my head
Am I the only one who can easily imagine an animated version of a music video for this?
Murphio can you draw? if yes, I neeeeed to see this
I can, though if I am ever doing it'll probably be a few years before I actually get to the point where I can do it.
I can. I could make animatic and animate when I have time since I'm in school right now. :3
that would be fuking amazing
Im actually planning on animating this once soooo 👀
When I get more comfortable with drawing humans that is lol
i love this! when i first started playing the Legend of Zelda games i never really took much thought of Ganondorf's own past and character much as i was much younger but for some reason now that i am older and i understand more things i see that he has quite an in depth character, especially some of the things revealed in Wind Waker about his motives for taking over Hyrule. i really need to get back into this series its been far to long since i played any of them. im so happy there are covers for it! this is a dream come true!
This song is so awesome i can't stop listening it always make me remember how great Ganondorf is my favorite video game villain ever
HELL YES! This! This is the Nate that I subscribed to! This song is amazing and I can't wait till I can hear the full album!
as a basically hardcore fan of the legend of zelda at this point, this was absolutely amazing! i loved the nods toward lines ganon has said in oot xD
Nice work! I recognized the music as the Gerudo Desert theme. Quite a remix.
This makes me sympathise with Ganondorf like so much, ty Nate for this amazing piece of work
Why have I only discovered this now?
This is ART! Omg I love this.
I really liked when Ganon was talking about his hometown it had the same beats as "Same old Forest" from this album too. It was a nice touch
Gosh I wish this album had a musical to go along with it...
*JAW DROPS* Holy what the god is my ears are paradise in a song!!!!
"You could never understand how it feels to be alone."
*Breath of the Wild comes out, Link has some of the least readily-available interaction in the series and is typically portrayed in fan works as being a lonely, depressed mess*
ok how about you go into a coma for 100 years then wake up. no matter who you interact with you will always feel lonely and out of touch
Best Zelda Song on the net. Great job man.
+Inkcorperated Records youre deffinenttly right about that :D
I love this album because it’s constantly referencing / reprising lines to fit the story, all leading up to this song, reprising and repeating without taking from Ganondorf’s intent. It’s actually a masterpiece.
Interestingly enough.
Before I even knew who performed this song or what it originates from, I saw it in tribute videos. One for Doctor Doom and one for Jafar.
And it was today when I learned this is a cover of Gerudo Valley. I never noticed.
