When I first fought Ganondorf in this game, my initial reaction was 'okay, this is a decent fight, but not really standing out over Phantom Ganon aside from him being able to dodge'. Then came phase two. The health bar. His ability to not just dodge attacks, but dodge and counter a Flurry Rush. And him throwing out attacks that went beyond just being gloom damage, and permanently removed hearts... Phase one lulled me into a false sense of security, before giving me the most terrifying and awesome Ganondorf fight in the series. And this song captures it perfectly, IMO. Well done, as always, internet man.

It was only a matter of time, and this is certainly a time and a half! He sounds so threatening and cocky at the same time, perfect for his character in this game. I would honestly stop fighting and just vibe to this if this played during the fight. LIVING for this!

Ganondorf wasn’t hiding, Ganondorf is a very arrogant person. He wouldn’t waste his time on someone he deems an unworthy foe, he set up the army as a test for Link. If Link survived, then he would allow Link to fight him man to man. If Link failed, well you get the idea. The point is, Ganondorf is no coward, if anything he’s the opposite. He likes it when he has a challenge. He doesn’t like failure, but he does appreciate a good fight.

The suffering Link went through made him stronger. Like everything with Calamity Ganon which Ganondorf was responsible for it all. Link really wanted him dead for revenge. Like for when he killed his fellow champions.
I don't understand why people think TotK!Ganondorf is a bad villain. He wants to create a world of Survival of the Fittest at its absolute most Sadistic, culling the "weak" that he calls cowards, and as a disabled(invisible but still) woman myself, that makes it PERSONAL.
he's a bad villain because he's poorly written and acts more like a caricature than a fully-fledged character, and is loaded with racist and orientalist stereotypes. there is a flair for dramatics for sure, which is a key element of a Ganondorf depiction, but his presentation only holds up on a surface level and crumbles under any scrutiny. and that is without mentioning the volumes upon volumes of imperialistic propaganda in the game's paper-thin plot also, with the amount of promotion he received, there is a *shockingly* low amount of screentime he gets. people expected a Ganondorf on the level of his WindWaker incarnation and this was absolutely a letdown on all accounts (except for music. his themes go so hard). yours truly, a Ganondorf superfan

He destroyed it, leaving everyone who isn't him, including his own people, to rot. TotK Ganondorf is a prideful ableist, which is a personal sore spot. Sometimes all you need for a villain is for them to rub salt into one of your wounds, and TotK Ganondorf did that spectacularly. Each regional phenomenon was a direct mirror of his views; triumph or perish. Freezing and starving to death? Get over it or you don't deserve life. Pollution? Deal with it or suffer. Addiction? Weakening the gorons for the slaughter. An overwhelming enemy? Victory or death, leave the weak behind, wait what are you doing helping each other STOP!

When that second phase started, I was utterly terrified by Ganondorf's overmaxed health bar. I haven't been that terrified of a boss fight since I had to deal with Kalameet's calamity glare in Dark Souls for the first time.
Honestly game wise, Matthew Mercer, known for voicing Yusuke Kitagawa from Persona 5 and Jotaro Kujo from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, did an amazing job voicing this iteration of Ganondorf!!!

Ganondorf was a last minute addition to Melee which he is a clone (his model matched Falcon’s skeleton), and that’s just stuck around ever since. I think the thought process is about not upsetting mains of those characters
