    Excellent video. Good comparison in one place. I also watched your video with coconuts and especially noted how at 200 yards you get a 4 inch drop in the 17, but an 8 inch drop with the 22 mag. That’s impressive how much damage caused despite the pill size. Thanks for a great comparison.

    I use my 17HMR as a critter getter around the house. Does great on groundhogs, raccoons and squirrels. I sold my 22mag back a few years ago but wish I still had one.

    Thank you for the video. I have a 22wmr and like it. I have never shot a 17hmr but would like to. But i know the 22wmr will get the job done,, for me that is.

    We do pretty much the same thing, just take them out and have some fun! My wife likes her .17 Savage because she doesn’t like too much recoil and she’s getting pretty darn accurate at 50 yds. I like my .22 and .223 and am looking at getting a .22 WMR. Good times.

    About week ago when we were hunting and after day we kind of wanted to try long range shots with my .17hmr. In 150 meters there was 0,33dl orange can. 200 meters same size pepsi can. And finally 250 meters 0.5 liter pepsi bottle against small tree on swamp. 150m shot popped with first try. 200m shot needed bit wind adjustment but still managed to hit with third shot when i realised that small wind was enought to push that shot barely off from left side. 250m bottle was bit tricky because all i saw was splash under the bottle and tried to aim even more higher just to realise that i dont have any clue where i was hitting. Finally i actually saw bullet to barely miss that bottle from left. Height was correct whole time and all i had to do was aim off by about 5-10cm. Those hawke scopes with aiming points are nice thing to have and actually are very close to real ballistics so you can actually trust to them. Of course wind is thing what must be compensated but overally im really impressed to accuraty of small rimmfire to hit small targets on distances where actual centerfires will likely miss target of that size. Edit: I had 4-12 power scope but because ballistic conversion from yards to meters i used 10x to make those aiming points to match to meter settings.

      Haha glad u commented.. ya long shots with rimfire rifles are super fun. Iv never tryed a hawk scope. But I'm sure I will one of theses days

    • @Kesssuli
      @Kesssuli 2 года назад +1

      @@Lowballinoutdoorz Those Hawke rimmfire scopes designed for that caliber are actually very nice. Range from 22lr normal ammo to 22lr subsonic. 22.wmr and 17hmr. Those aimingpoints in that reticle are just very good thing to have with rimmfires where bullet drop is usually much higher than typical centerfire calibers. For that price what those cost i can honestly recommend. And with phone app what they offer you can play with calibers so one scope can function with different caliber if needed.

    I have 3 different 22mags a pump , Henry lever action and Ruger bolt my pump has the longest barrel and at 300 yards with Remington v tip 33grain with three shots hit him two times he fell. I do have a 4.5-12-40mm vortex on it and adjusted for the take and that's farther than I would do again.

Predators don't stand a chance.

    I use a 22 mag hadda 17 but I found it to big for small game and too small for big game I found that it blows up it was great for ground squirrels and other pest control but blew grouse apart if you shot low the mag I've put it through coyotes at 150 yds out hit I coyote at a 100 in the shoulder and it ran buddy give it the 223 when we looked at it the 17 exploded and caused a flesh wound just find the mag gets better penetration and better for coyotes and hogs

    17hmr is just plain and simple superior to the 22wmr its simple ballistics. Like shooting a rock as a projectile with the 22 or shooting an arrowhead for the 17.
