Thank you Josh. At last! More sako quad content please. Factory barrel .22lr is more accurate than that lilja barrel so really need to find ammunition it likes as it must be able to better. Good to see no feed extraction issues with lilja. Work of art just needs a chassis - if only mdt are watching and my dream of my quad in an XRS or ESS becomes true hell any chassis will do. Then it can go and play with the big names at the NRL games. Looking forward to next instalment. Thanks mate
I had a hunch about the most accurate to least accurate. You experienced the same thing I did. 17hmr, 22lr, then 22 mag. I have a CZ 452 American (short bull barrel) in 17HMR that was from the first or second year they were made back in the early 2000's or so. I can knock the heads off of matches at 50 to 75 yards. My son in law can do it at 100 a good amount of the time. Then I have a CZ 455 Luxe in 22lr that is a tack driver with a Vortex Crossfire II 6-18x; it's my desert ground squirrel shooter. I no longer have a 22mag in a rifle, just some revolvers that happen to come with 22 mag cylinders (Ruger Super Wrangler, Diamondback Sidekick, and a Heritage Rough Rider). I know there are some 22mag fan-boys out there, but I'm not one of them. I was just never impressed with their accuracy; at least when compared to the 17hmr and the 22lr. The 17hmr does the trick on coyotes and badgers out to 200 or so. I've hit rock chucks at 300.
My 17hmr Marlin (one of the first ones) likes the 17 grain Hornadys with the red tip. I was so impressed when I heard about it that I rushed out and bought it as soon as it came out on the market.
Wow. I am pleasantly surprised at the accuracy of the Magnums. Fully expected LR to be the tightest. Excellent video - no better way to demonstrate the difference.
Awesome video 👍🏼 Please don’t take this the wrong way but I must say it…. Seiko is a watch brand Sako makes awesome rifles, no big deal keep the great content coming! ✌🏼😎👍🏼
I picked up a 22 QUAD and then found the 17 HM2 Barrel. Both barrels shoot lights out. Amazing rifle. Better than my CZ457 LRP and Bergara B14R. Pricey, but worth every penny.
Great rifle Josh, and even a more accurate 17hmr. I have a CZ457 with a Manners chassis, Lilja barrel, and Timney trigger, it shoots very very accurate.
Liking the video. There's the potential for even more content, such as bedding stocks etc. Thanks for the video and the information. .17HMR may be another rimfire rifle I'll be looking at to buy.
17HMR should group an inch or under at 100yards. I’ve tried about 6 different ammo brands and mine likes the Hornady VMax the best. Shot with a fixed 10 power SWFA SS scope.
You mean you tried 2 different 17HMR ammo brands? Everything besides winchester is CCI my friend 😊 Hornady, Remington, Federal, Norma, Fiocchi, Blazer, etc is all CCI 😮 Only 2 companies make 17HMR ... Winchester/Browning and CCI/Remington/Hornady/Federal 😊
All the 17hmrs I've been around have been good shooters. My bergara bmr with the carbon barrel shoots about the same as that sako. My Ruger 77/17 that I've had since they first were offered in 17 shoots even better.
Mine is the wood stock with sporter weight barrel in 22lr. It is stupid accurate with eley force, and slightly less so, with eley HV hunting. Love it, took a while to find it
That's a nice rig. I picked up some A17HMR and A22Mag it's a little pricier than regular HMR and Mag it seems to group a little better at 100 yards in my CZ HMR and 22Magnum rifles. It's supposed to be a little faster than standard. Winchester and most of the other soft point 22 Magnum brands aren't near as accurate than the tipped varieties or hollow points in m rifle. I stick with Hornady 17 grain HMR I do have a few Winchester Supreme tipped in 17 and 20 grain but have a problem with split cases more so than the Hornady which doesn't make sense. They must be making 17 Mach II again our local shop has lots of it.
Have you done anything with the 17m2? I barrel swapped my Ruger 77/22 with the Green Mountain barrel and really like it, but it did prefer the no longer available Eley ammo over the Hornady or CCI
I've had my best luck with the Federal premium 17gr ballistic tips out of my T1X and my Steyr.. As far as 22 mag, it's been the 35gn CCI ballistic tips
Then just for fun find a .17 WSM and check it out . The one I seen shot a three shot group at 80 yrds you could cover with finger nail . Got my attention in a hury and made me a little envious .
This is a little off topic and maybe a little dumb too. I’m getting my Cz 457 shortly and wanted to test some ammo. Here’s my conundrum. Since the lots of a specific ammo can vary some much, how do you even test between ammo. Like does the performance between lots of eley match overlap the performance of lots of center x? If your looking for the best do you need to test lots first to find the best then compare those against different ammo? Or do you just draw a line in the sand and say this performance is good enough for me. It’s just that you see quite a lot of ammo comparisons on RUclips and I wonder how useful when lots are changed.
You will likely see certain ammo may be preferred in your barrel. For me its easier, im that concerned about group size. I like the eley bullet so i test eley
@@PursuitofAccuracy lol, ok but didn’t you do like 14 videos on different ammo? All that and you just choose between eley ammo. I think I remember you like it because of the silver bullet… something about vampires or maybe that you can actually see the bullet in the scope for corrections. Not sure which.
@@scottluther6699 yeah i tested a lot of the available ammo on the market. Once i was heavier into prs and nrl shooting i discovered how good the eley was for seeing the bullet. So yes its easier to see and not a bad back up plan for vampires
Josh. Every one is looking for most accurate ammo. But I’m looking for most reliable ammo with little to no failure to fires…what’s your recommendations?
@@PursuitofAccuracy thanks! Always wondered how usable a barrel swap was without a re-zero. I wonder if it would return to zero if you had a 22lr scope and a 17hmr scope that you swapped between for each corresponding barrel, and if it would hold zero. I suspect not.
@@PursuitofAccuracy looks awesome. I had a custom Vudoo 360 made. Shot real good, was a year before I got any Lapua. Tried Lapua long range. My very first 10 shot group was a perfect circle half the size of a dime. 50 yards I learned really quick ammo makes a HuGE difference Great video
@@PursuitofAccuracy one more question. Did you ever entertain the idea of a Vudoo build for 17 HMR? I know there ticket is 22 lr. Not sure of the accuracy of that build

Mine has all 4 barrels. They're sporter-weight. I loaded up on Mach 2 ammo a while back and I'm glad I did. So much fun to shoot. GREAT STUFF!
Grabbed 1,500 rds of Mach II when I finally found some (@ $8.50/bx).

Honestly most of the time i see ftf's its due to the rifle and not the ammo if its quality ammo
