    Stunned. Shocked. Can't seem to find the words in describing how I felt when I read that Mr Aaron passed away today. Just heard his voice less than 3 weeks ago after he got the vaccine and he said he felt great. Wow. True gentleman. Class act. Great man. The true home run king in my eyes. My condolences to his family, friends and fans. Thank you Mr Aaron for showing class, dignity, talent and grace on and off the field. Rest easy sir and God bless you.

    I saw him in St. Louis. Bob Gibson was pitching. Aaron got the only run in the game, a solo home run, in the top of the first. Bob continued on; he pitched the whole 9 innings. Game over in less than 2 hours.

      Lol! I remember field box seats were at the most maybe $5.00 apiece. I have turned my back on all professional sports. For one, I refuse to pay the astronomical high prices of tickets and concessions; number two, most of the athletes are virtue signaling spoiled brats. It's really a shame because I used to be a huge baseball fan.

      @@easycharlie6739 Been living out west in the sticks, since '85. So, very few games for me. Last one I attended in St. Louis was 1998; it was the Diamondback's first one at Busch. My brother and I attended. We had seats in the nosebleed section. For batting practice, we snuck in on the first base side. They shagged out people all around us, but not us, and it was a lovely up close and personal view of the players, the whole game! Big Mac hit three that evening; quite the show!
      I attended SIU-C. Met an old man; he was quite the fan. He wasn't driving anymore, yet we'd go to many a game (I'd chauffeur) on Senior/Ladies Day . . . the .50 price was with my Jr High girlfriend and her dad loved the game. She would only go to the game to look at the boys, what a waste!

    • @jerrybrownell3633
      @jerrybrownell3633 3 года назад

      Under rated? He is the all time leader in runs batted in. 3rd in total hits. Depending on how you view it-First in homeruns. Subtract his 755 home runs and he still has over 3000 hits. Based on stats alone he has a legitimate
      claim to GOAT and you say he is under rated. Henry Louis is the quiet superstar. Never flashy or flamboyant. Just
      did his job game after game. Ridiculously consistent.

    I had the pleasure of being in Cooperstown on 2019 Induction Day to see him receiving a standing ovation from all his HOF peers and from a multitude of 55,000, unforgettable moment. His eldest daughter Gaile was born in Puerto Rico when he came to the island to play for the Caguas Criollos in 1954. The Baseball world has lost a great player, an ambassador and a 1-derful human being, R.I.P. Mr. Aaron.

    If Aaron played his entire career in the giant media market of NYC there would have been a famous folk song written about him. He had a better career than Mantle, better than DiMaggio. If you take away all of his 750+ HRs he STILL had 3,000 hits! Arguably the greatest baseball career ever.
