hi everyone, yes... this is exactly what it seems lol. i wanted to make this video to help any of my trans sisters out there, or even anyone else that's curious, and give my honest experience having my gender-affirming surgery. i've kept some stuff to myself, and it really isn't fair- so here you go! let me know in the comments if you still have questions :)

I'm trans and the cost is CRAZY!!! Would you recommend the bottom surgery despite the cost and if it gets botched? bc that's what I'm afraid of the most.

I couldnt relate more to you Samantha! From one trans youtuber to another, talking about it openly is so important and I loved the way you described the whole situation. Relatable af! Its funny cuz almost any girl has different complications down there post-op. I had to delay my flight with 3 weeks because they had to RE-insert the catheter due to an urethra inflamation. Even 2 years after surgery I struggle with a chronic UTI, but its not because of the surgery itself. It could happen to any other girl that used a catheter. Like you, I had to go to college 1 month after surgery and it was horror! I could barely sit on a chair, let alone walk normally. But I feel like these experiences we have make us unique, stronger, and they really show how much we can fight for our truth. I love you so much! ❤

Sugar is bad for UTI, I read somewhere online that drinking fruit juice will make you 5 times more likely to have UTI

I've had the surgery... at the end of the day it is the most painful thing to put yourself through, mentally and physically. The surgery is all about commitment What you put into it is what you will get out of it. Just like anything in life.

The worst would have to be dilating the wound frequently so the opening doesn't close.

Being a good trans ally is always my intent, and I know that for some trans people they would rather not speak about this subject as it is their body, not the publics. So I'd just like to say thank you for being open about this to educate others on this topic through your experiences.
Likewise and video clips like this mean that anyone who we know who is trans can just mention the name of a procedure and we will understand what they are talking about. I have learned so much about gender reassignment from watching Samantha's videos, and my opinion is that greater knowledge and increased understanding is never a bad thing.
Try being a good person. Ally is a term of war that solidifies that you see them as an other you are willing to work with in the right conditions.
Never never change what GOD created on you...human beings can never never never have GOD'S Heavenly materials for your body and hell is real when you do it...cancer and slow painful smelly death. Girl, trust....even for a WHOLE LOT of women trans or not, its hard to get off. We are more mindful. Sex isn't just "thrust, pump, enjoy" lol. Seems like a lot of emotion and thoughts are all mingled in there. So you are not alone. Try some mindful yoga, it can help clear your mind. Good luck babe. It's not "thrust, pump, enjoy" by default for men either...first thing anyone needs is confidence! Second is the right mindspace. Otherwise non of the physicality matters.
I do not think that’s completely true, if it’s hard to get off someone is probably not doing the right things to make you feel good cause it’s not supposed to be like that. It makes me sad that women think that it has to be that way and that it’s tougher for them when the other person might not even know how to meet your needs, which deserve to be met and when they are it isn’t hard.

Thanks for sharing! I am FTM and I can’t imagine having bottom surgery. I would take the results in a second! I would spend any money I had in a second. I feel like some body parts yell “this is wrong” constantly. But the surgery part. There’s just so much of it involved below the waist. Like you explain, complications might not happen, but they might. You have to be mentally prepared for major surgery. I am not. Maybe I will be one day. I think you are brave. I think everyone who commits to these types of surgeries are brave. I think it is important to tell other trans people the truth because we can’t make good decisions without the truth.

Yes, people should be talking about the reality, so everyone can weight their choices, themselves. The same goes for all surgeries. There is such a need for patient forums to discuss the process and results! I’m so scared about my upcoming hysterectomy, and deciding whether to get my neck fused. For example with the hysterectomy, I’ve heard some people say it completely ruined their sex lives, and others say they should’ve got it done way sooner because it improved. Reading those kind of accounts helped me decide decide which type of surgical procedure to have (which bits to let them take & which they should leave). But even with the neck surgery, there are a lot of people who say that was the start of the worst pain of their life, and others who say that it fixed their pain, and everything in between. It’s really rough to make those decisions!

I'm sure you don't mean to be, but this comment is transphobic. Trust me, we have thought DEEPLY about ALL the changes that will occur if we chose to have surgery. It is not something that is taken on lightly, usually years of thought have gone into it. Please don't try to persuade trans people to not have surgery. Just listen to them and support them in however they're feeling. You don't need to be the "devil's advocate" for us, we have a very active devil's advocate that lives inside of us.

These kinds of videos are so important. I’m sure you were uneasy about putting something so personal on the internet but it’s important for other people thinking about getting the surgery to know what they’re in for. And also just for people to learn about life as a mtf trans woman. Doctors sometimes sugar coat things or don’t talk about certain important details so it’s good to get the account and perspective of someone that’s been through it. I’m sorry you had to go through such a difficult process but I hope ultimately it’s worth it. 💜

I think there is also an a very significant psychological impact when you have bottom surgery that is why surgeons normally require a psychological evaluation and a strong support system before they qualify you for bottom surgery.

My girlfriend really really wants bottom surgery, and due to health issues, would VERY VERY LIKELY have complications like the ones you mentioned here. In fact, her assumed recovery time would be a couple MONTHS, not weeks, because she just heals poorly from literally anything ever.
She still CAN get it done, BUT she would need to prepare herself and her doctors for the PROBABILITY that every complication that can happen, WILL HAPPEN.
Look into doctor Christine McGinn! She is also a transgender woman and performs phenomenal surgeries.

Girl, I got a breast reduction (which is obviously a lot less invasive than this) and I had 2 full months to recover and when I went back to doing things it was a struggle, IMAGINE getting back to regular life as soon as you did
why is this sounding a lot like how I felt after I had my baby girl. 😂 some stuff is a lot different obviously and maybe more traumatic but from the world dilation, how it was a process to heal down there, how I had that mental block for like the first 3 and half months after having, from me being scared it wouldn’t go back to normal (just normal for you) lol crazy. but I’m glad everything workout out!

That surgery is a huge gamble for anyone. Especially a male to female change.
Your body treats it like a wound and will try to close it up constantly.
Any surgery that involves moving nerve endings around is a unique special experience for each person.
Some people will get lucky and say they have full feeling and sex is great etc etc. Others will completely lose sex drive like a castrated person. They will feel nothing or feel pain. What is felt is weak and unsatisfying.
Nerve endings is NOT an area in the medical field that has been masters. Be warned.
Bruh I'm sorry but that sounds terrifying. I wish I didn't have to ever worry about shit like this. But I feel fucking terrible. Now more than ever. There's something i've always wondered: After SRS, you have to dilate for the rest of your life? or is it only for a certain period of time and then you just can live without dilating at all?
You have to dilate, everyday or once a week to maintain the depth, or else it would be not that deep or even worse it well be close.
It is technically an open wound so it will try to close up if you don’t dilate. But as she said in the video you do ween off of having to do it in most cases... though of course everyone is different. I had a friend who couldn’t even get piercings bc her body would try so hard to heal it that it would literally push it out.
Drats Smithsonian it’s not an “open wound” except for when it’s healing (as with any major surgery; my mom had an “open wound” on her foot when she had her tendon fixed). Once it’s healed, you dilate because the surgery involves creating a gap for the neovaginal canal between two pelvic muscles that normally touch each other, and dilating keeps those muscles separated. It’s true that, while healing, you can permanently lose depth by not dilating, but once healed, most lost depth from not dilating can be regained by gradually dilating and re-training those muscles to separate. The “open wound” thing is a myth and makes the surgery sound more barbaric than it actually is. I know you don’t mean to perpetuate that, just wanted to let you know! 💕
I can't imagine the horror and I would not be able to go through with it, personally. Whether it be F to M or M to F surgery. I've seen videos of these surgeries and it's horrific. I hope you heal and that you never have any complications.
I think what troubles me is that this was covered by insurance, yet I wouldn't mind some elective procedures myself. Hey, maybe even on my vag. I mean childbirth does change your anatomy, but we would certainly have to pay for that. Even facial feminization surgery is covered for trans women, yet natural born women can have just as much mental anguish from aspects of their face, but no we must pay for it

Wow... I had my surgery at the beginning of March this year right before the COVID-19 situation escalated in the US. Fortunately I haven't had any issues yet. Dilating has become almost like a part time job. Working from home has helped. It's interesting to hear how different surgeon's have different requirements. There's no 2nd stage operation for me unless some complication occurs requiring a revision. Congrats on getting through it all. All the best...

I just started watching her about two days ago and I really appreciate her views and explanations of the lgbtq community. So many people in that community have dramatized it so much. My mother dated a woman for four years and they both raised me. It make me respect her so much that she looks at this as who she is and isn’t loud and dramatic, not saying everyone in the community is like this but many Lgbtq influencers are. Thank you for showing people that this is not a choice and that your whole life does not revolve around your identity physically but rather as who you are inside. It’s so nice to watch someone who understands this is simply a part of them, not everything they are.

Honestly you didn't have to even give your experience, but you did so for the curiosity and education of others and I thank you, I have one confirmed mtf friend and one who is questioning, this will help me explain to my questioning friend since they asked me the other day. We are in high school and I appreciate being able to learn more and understand my friends better.
Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your experiences, I came out of surgery with no depth probably due to a bowel perforation, this was almost a year ago. And reaching climax is really hard to get sometimes but I am learning to accept now what I do have, with no regrets but I am not sure how I will ever have a close relationship with someone again so I guess that a fair percentage of us will have to deal with some challenges after having surgery, be strong girl we are so much more than that.

I am finding I'm identifying increasingly as a conservative libertarian and I am often at odds with the trans community who will label me a bigot for the slightest of things; something I've come to expect from the hateful authoritarian aspects of the political left. They'll preach tolerance and diversity until it comes to diversity of thought... but I don't want to talk about them. I want this to be a positive comment.
It's very easy to get wrapped up in the political arguments and forget the very real extremely personal aspects of the trans struggle. You sharing your story gives us all a chance to empathise with you. When I see you talking like this I don't see a boy in make up, changing their gender just to score identity points, or some screaming entitled person shouting about dozens of made up gender identities. Rather, I see a woman. A genuine real woman. Someone who's struggled to become one, but has nevertheless become a beautiful feminine inspirational woman and one I'm glad to have the opportunity to watch. Thank you for sharing. When the politics gets to be too much I seek out channels like yours, to remind me why I'm an egalitarian. When I find myself angry at the trans community for the offensive crap I see coming from it, I try to instead focus on something simple instead. We're all human deep down, and when someone can share something as intimate as the reconstruction of their vagina online, so that others can understand the struggles they go through, it's humbling and it puts all the other petty bullshit into perspective.

I'm so glad this is here for ppl wanting to do this surgery, I'm neither against it or for it, and when your an adult, your free to do what u wish. But I've seen so many things aimed at young trans ppl saying oh 2 weeks down time, oh no big deal, but literally every person I've ever seen that's done it can explain the reality. It's a hard choice, the trans issue is a complicated thing indeed, and I do think transitioning is the answer for some while not for others, it's just all about individual decisions. But.. but.. to keep ppl informed, again, thanks. And from a lady.. girl, explore yourself, figure out what feels good by yourself, then you can teach them what u want. It's what all girl have to do, your just slightly late to the party. But have fun with your body, enjoy it, esp if you've healed and all good, go on a wonderous exploration! 🤣

I think that not only are you very brave, but also talking with such candour about your surgery. I'm almost 48 and trans but haven't had any surgeries (hoping that will be possible) yet and the UK gender clinics are working off data from the 80's and 90's and their approach and refusal of treatment for people that aren't fully out yet is soul destroying...

This is very real, and I'm sorry you had to go through it. How you are born, that area being touched for a 'surgery' for a 'correction' has to be tough. if someone decides to not do bottom surgery it's completely understandable.

I'm so sorry your recovery was so difficult. I know what it's like to have surgery wounds take months to heal and having to keep up with cleaning and bandages and complications etc, which in no way compares to what you went through, but the fact that your heal site was also in a place you couldn't see and you were unfamiliar with is completely terrifying. I'm so happy that it all worked out in the end

Major surgeries scare the crap out of me, and I know a lot of cis women have commented, but trans men also worry about what they look like down there sometimes. (Esp pre-bottom surgery)
As a trans female myself, (and lesbian), I found this VERY informative! I am still about a year or so away from being able TO have my bottom surgery, but finding seriously GOOD info, is hard, so THANK YOU, for this. I now have a better idea of what I MIGHT expect. Plus, I'm older, so not sure how it will all go, but... The facial reconstruction, I hear is horrid, too, however, that, and the top/bottom surgeries, are what I need to feel complete with myself.

Like, I only just started my transition this year and bottom surgery has crossed my mind, not as something I NEED to do necessarily, but just as a possibility. I think the fact that I don't feel an overwhelming need to get the surgery or really even think about my genitals that often means that I won't go through the trouble myself. I still have so much admiration for people who are brave enough to go ahead with it and it's just amazing to hear their perspective so like, thanks for going into those details. I've heard that from several people who have flown after surgeries that the pressure can be a problem...even when I got a tattoo on my foot in Phoenix and flew back, it was pretty swollen. I think that's why they get worried about pregnant women flying too...

For your little world you can make up any new meaningless nouns, pronoun or other Speach parts, like any buffon. For the rest of us, this is not necessary; a woman is a woman. Whoever was a man and changed sex is a trans woman, short for trans. We are not gonna bend to your tyranny.

Your whole transition terrifies me terribly. Not only because of physical pain, but also because of mental pain. I feel so sorry that transsexuals have to go through this to be who they feel they are. But , I am glad that the abilities of today's doctors are so far that they can correct mistake of nature. Even though I'm not a transsexual, thank you for your videos because they help me understand the feelings of transsexuals.

Hey I'm a trans girl who has also had had bottom surgery and I find it really hard to date and find someone who wants to be with a trans girl who has had the surgery. Most guys either tell me their not interested because I've had the surgery or they want to date cis women instead. Im 100% passable (I know the trans community hates that term but it is what it is) and I get hit on all the time but when guys find out I'm trans or don't have that extra junk in trunk I never hear from them again. Where did you meet your BF and how do you date? I like to here other girls experience that have had the surgery because our experience varies a little bit from girls that have had the surgery.
