I have a 2007 ktm 990. Love the ktm torque. I just got a 2024 ktm 390 as a second bike for the back road twisties. Awesome rides just like a duke. Need to trade my 2007 990 for the new one.
I’m an all in ktm guy but not a fan of the side fairings on the 990. The styling just doesn’t flow correctly. I’m also sad you say it’s better than the 890r duke. I bought the 23 890 and love how light handling it is compared to my 1290r. Both bike are great and have their own character. Sounds like the 990 is just a more comfortable bike with a better display screen.
How would the 990 compare to my 390? Wondering if I should upgrade? I do some short commutes on the highway 60-75mph, and the rest is mostly just surface streets from 25-55mph. Sometimes I take some nice long windy roads by the beach. I still consider myself a beginner.
Great review as always. 👍 I agree it grates, £13k give or take if I heard correctly, then KTM expect you to shell out extra to unlock features that are already build into the bike you just paid for. Nope. Is the motor on this one Chinese made?
Wonder how tall and heavy are you? Funny enough my nearbg dealerhsip told me not to trade in my 890 duke R for the 990. They said is pretry much the same boke but different look.
Interesting how to are very sure this 990 is better then the 890r which you owed for two years. Thats high praise. When I bought the 2024 ktm 390, it sat right next to the 2023 390. The 2023 was basically $2000 cheaper, on sale. But the 2024 fit and finish looked to be on another level, plus the quickshifter was said to be flawless. I will try and get a deal on the 990 in the off season.
Yes you should I bought mine last week and absolutely love it such a refined ride with the power it has. Nearly got the Kawasaki Z900RS so glad I didn’t now😊
@@gsd32i I agree. They changed it from dry to wet weight this year. Too bad they didnt change the information on the ”older” models at the same time. 🤷🏻♂️😄
Nice review but that bike is not worth £13,000. And Jersey looks a lovely island but the with speed limits on those roads I think all I would need is a new RE Bullet 350.
I need to start paying more attention to your non BMW vids as giving the recent GSA1300 release I won't be riding one for much longer. How can anyone design A bike that's so hideous. Fascinated to see BMW bike sales next year.
I think the Harley adventure bike is preferable to the new GSA . Initial thoughts are WTF 🙈 possibly better in the flesh ? Won’t be upgrading anytime soon for either of the new BMW’s. 🤮
@@gsd32i good point. I know someone with the Pan and it’s a nice looking bike in the flesh. I remember when that was announced thinking they won’t sell many of those. There are some great deals on the Pan.
Literally the best looking naked bike I’ve looked at in person this year. And I’ve looked at all of them. You nuts. And cheaper than the Mt-09 in my area. Cannot find a better bike for $14,500 Canadian. Tech pack included.
What a great review ! Easily the best in depth i have ever seen... on a great bike also .
Thanks 👍
Best review I have seen, Thanks Cheers from the other side of the pond.
Glad you enjoyed it
Fantastic review. One of the best and most informed. 👏🏻
Thanks 👍
Maybe you can integrate 790s rear light cluster at the back

I found it to be a more comfortable and easier bike to ride on the road, both slow and fast. Thats progress for you....R version would be nice.😊
890 more nimble, but 990 feels Bigger and more grunt✊🔥
Hi,great video, possibly in the market for one of these, did you do the tech video you spoke of in this video ?
Hi, thanks. The only tech items were what was shown in the video. I am sure you will have many miles of fun if you get one.😁
Shes a beauty,thanks for the review 👍👍👍👍👍
No problem 👍
Great review!
Thanks!

Hi, the 990 is an easy machine to ride. The MT07 is a good bike too, as is the Suzuki 800
Great review as always. 👍

Is the motor on this one Chinese made?
I believe the bike is made in Austria.
only 790 is made in china
Duke 990 top speed ????
150?

5’9 , 88kgs . 990 was bigger than the smaller 890 and being bigger I found it to be a better fit 😁
If you had to choose between this and the MT 09 you just tested which one would you pick?
I think.............boy thats a hard one..........on the spot.....I would go with the MT 🙈 only just though.
What’s the rationale for MT09 instead of the Duke?
@@jimmylau6388 Better everyday bike ?It really is close though. Track day weekender .....would be the KTM .
hows the fueling? snatchy or not
Hi . It was very good . Better than my 890R . At walking pace it did get a little bit “chuggy” but otherwise no issue .

I just found it a better “fit” and it felt easier / more comfortable to ride …maybe I am just too old for the R versions 😂

@@Geeman57 Enjoy😁
A nice bike, but KTM needs to upgrade the quality of components ie headlight fixture, switch gear to justify the price.
I like the "Scythe" much more than the Sniper.
might as well just call it the Grim Reaper
890 Duke R - 166 kg dry weight and 990 Duke 179 kg wet weight (without fuel) so the difference in weight is not that big.
Thanks for taking time to post...I just wish KTM would keep it simple to compare the weights. Ride safe 👍

18:55 view is insane....
Beauty
Why's it called a 990?
Prices for these things in Europe are crazy!
947cc ? Name first appeared 19 years ago when the original 990 Duke was launched ?

Top speed

Ironically, the Chinese manufactured 790s are more reliable.
One ugly bike and overpriced
