I absolutely love my Super Duke. Great bike. So playful and willing to do anything. Absolutely astonishing at full throttle and 10,500 RPM shifts. So much fun.
Let's hope this new generation of the lc8c does not have the cam problem. I have been a victim of it as well The 990 engine is designed for scratch and is only based on the 790/890 lc8c.
@@davidwales9657 won’t disagree but having a bike that will makes it to it’s second service without the engine failing then months of waiting as parts as they are indefinitely back ordered due to frequency of the failures happening would be nice. I made the mistake getting the KTM parallel twin and payed dearly for the mistake 😢. Nice when it works, when being the key word. Not heard of such faults on the big v-twin although have read of other niggles.
I just test rode the 990 today. Initial thoughts, bike was very light and agile, almost felt like a toy. I had it originally in Street mode but quickly went up to Performance mode and I still felt it lacked jam. It seemed more quick than powerful and I'm only coming from a GSXR 600. Perhaps I needed it in Track mode but I only had 30 min with it. The Quicksfiter produced a whole bunch of false neutrals for me even in the 4-5k rpm range, eventually just went back to the clutch. The sit on the bike was very comfortable ( main reason I'm looking at an upright bike opposed to my Gixer) but the bike itself felt small for me (I'm 6'2 185lbs). I'm sure with adjustments of all the options i would like the bike but i feel the $14k Cdn is just too expensive for the bike you're getting
For my riding and skills, and appreciate value and reliability, I'd be getting the MT-09SP. And if you want something outright bonkers that is equally useless as the SD on the street, get a ZH2 that comes with a sweet supercharger, and wait for it.... reliability. I also prefer the howl of inline 3/4.
@@Notoxic30 Ive done 2500 km of spirited riding and a track day with my 990 Duke. If you compare them with the 1390 Brembos (which is the highest level of Brembo brakes) ofc they lack bite and so on. But they are good enough for the street and Ive pushed them really hard and they perform very well. Yeah, go try one out and see what you think. 🙂🏁
Lol they aint shitty. But surely, compared to stylema gp of the sdr… yeah it feel bad. Tho test separately they feels great. Just standard bias. Like years ago journalist feeling latest r6 felt bad and empty compared to r1… lol. Yeah sure. They aren’t the same. Stopping power tho, is good and there

I would buy the 990 one and i would take the engine and put it on an old 950 adventure and have some real fun 🎉 And i would take the 1390sd out only in rainy days 😂

I’d take the bigger v-twin. The KTM parallel twin doesn’t have the best reliability with cams/engines failing at low km/miles on it 7/890 variants.

Was your bike fixed FOC by KTM, or did you have to pay ?
If you care about reliability, KTM is the wrong brand entirely

Have these people had valves adjusted? My 2014 sdr has about 20k kms and all valves were very tight.
The brakes are actually very good, they are not Brembos, but still good enough to come to a screeching sudden halt.
One of the best bike comarison videos which I ever so on youtube. Amazing! Thank you guys!

Great review, thanks!
Thank you for doing these reviews in English.
WE LOVE MORE POWER!!! 💪🤣
Very good review, free of B.S. A rare luxury nowadays. Thank you.
What road is this with the smooth tarmac ?

Love the 1390 superduke but couldnt get myself to spend 10k extra for the nice stuff that i would use 1% of the time
I'd have the 990 Duke R that will certainly come with better brakes
How can they release a bike with bad brakes in 2024?
They are not bad at all. Brembos are better ofc but you really dont need more for the street and occassional track days imho.
So that, they can release a more expensive one with Brembo brakes and electronic suspension next year😂

The 990 has J Juans, not Brembo brakes
Very rare to notice the difference when viewed from front side. 92% same from front view.😢
Intro. The sound instantly is different
Dukke 990 ✊🔥
In Finland 1390 costs over 30ke (32ke). Its ridiculous.
Wow... the SD 1390 Evo converted to Euro is €23,113 in the UK.
Scandinavia hates the internal combustion engine.
Wish they’d make one with a cable throttle, normal clutch, normal brakes. I’d buy it today
1. Girls do not know the difference between the 1390 and the 990.
2. You will be a product testing guinea pig if you purchase these bikes.
So which one do you like lol
