I don't think it's supposed to be futuristic. I think it's just a 3D representation of a blueprint, showing us how Lumiose City will eventually look like in the present.
It's both, as the design has elements of both blueprints and technology, the latter of which is typically used to depict the future.

I'm heavily invested that Z-A is a future-based Legends game, mostly because that actually makes a lot of sense. Mainly due to the fact the trailer goes from a blueprint to a digital render. If Z-A was meant to take place around the same time as Arceus (or thereabouts) then the render would be completely unnecessary since the time of the URP in Paris didn't have tech like that. While the Paris restoration was long ago by our time, it's entirely possible that the urban redevelopment plan wasn't implemented at that same time in the Pokémon world. Not everything is a one-to-one comparison, right? But it would also make more sense because we have no idea about who or what the A in the title stands for, and that stands to reason that this Pokémon (in theory) may very well have never been seen until the future, where Kalos and more specifically Lumiose are now put into danger. I am hopeful that the Ultra Beasts are coming back as well, as Zygarde has beef with them as of Sun and Moon and their inclusion would be fun in my opinion.
Kalos needs a SEQUEL
We had PLA set in the past in a japanese traditional region, like Kitakami. DLC of a game all about past and future and time paradoxes.
And we just had a DLC all about a futuristic dome with artificial biomes. Suddenly we get a game set INSIDE OF A CIRCULAR CITY.
The connection seems obvious to me.

New Pokemon Snap hinting at Legends Z-A would be some serious foreshadowing, that would genuinely be amazing if that's the case.
This Lumiose built on top of those old ruins, maybe.
Hopefully they put some focus back on main character customization, and hair/fashion. It's crazy that Pokemon XY came out over 10 years ago, and we still haven't had as many options for clothes and hair (especially for girls, who had way more options than guys for some reason...) . It was especially lame that in Galar forced us to wear the same outfit for all gym battles, and Paldea was even worse, where you have only 4 versions of the same uniform (that you couldn't even chage the color of...)

@@Will5353_ that's perfectly fine, but my point is that the game backpedaled on a great feature. With all the money these games make, shouldn't we be getting more content, and better quality? I understand if they were prioritizing other features, but Kalos was, in my opinion, better designed than the mainline games that succeeded it.

Legends ZA will pretty sure be the VGC title for the next 3 years. Why.
1- it's actually within the update cycle of games.
2- the trailer shows trainer battles like a casual thing. So no, it won't be LA but french.
3- Also the trailer shows Mega Evolution coming back. A gimmick that relies in the BOND between TRAINER and Pokémon.
Also there must be items to use megastones.
4- What would be the point of bringing back Megas if people can't use them for battles?
5- This must be set AFTER XY so we can have online battles.
It isn't after XY but I really hope you're right about the other points, I would love to battle online, that's the only thing I disliked from legends Arceus
The last time they rushed due to a milestone anniversary, Kalos/Gen 6 suffered. During the 20th anniversary, instead of giving us the 3rd game for that Gen (aka Pokemon Z), they announced and SHOWED Gen 7/Alola with concept art and everything. I think its fitting that they use this time to go back and give Kalos the love it deserves.

I'm pretty sure I heard they said that they'd spend more time developing the next mainline. I hope we're not getting Gen 10 by 2026, but simultaneously, because of the gen jump for Nintendo with whatever the successor to the Switch is, paired with all the hate SV has gotten, we sort of NEED Gen 10. Hopefully with the added power of the Switch 2 they'll be able to increase SV's frame rate and possibly optimize it enough that it could be the mainline for a few more years.
I don't expect to see a 10th gen RIGHT NOW.
You know? ZA will mostly come out in late 2025. Why would they RISK to make a rushed game, AGAIN. Specially with Nintendo on their shoulder.
Honestly I hope it is on the future considering how in xyz team flare did attack and destroy lumios city with those crazy vines or maybe it is based on the past on how lumios city comes to be getting inspiration from how Paris France had a whole redesign in the olden days to be more modern and make things easier to live for convenience and to go against an uprising
I am tired of pretending to get excited about yet another let down. Pokemon has so much potential. Give it to a studio with as much passion as Larian did for Baldur's Gate 3. GameFreak is great at creating the Pokemon franchise but when it comes to game design they are terrible.
Gen 5 was the last generation that was really finished and full of content and quality. Gen 7 was very good for modern standards as well. Gen 9 too, in terms of content, but the technical aspects were unacceptable
I agree with eveything but the last one.
Gen 9 is very much playable, especially in the latest patches. People seem to overestimate how buggy it is, it’s fine.
@@blitzbase I haven't experienced any glitches, personally. The frame rate is only a minor bother for me. People can't seem to look past those two though. I feel like if they'd not had those problems SV would've been beloved.

"You can tell that the devs love the series" is highly questionable. If they actually cared for the series, one would think that they'd be more vocal with the upper management about the quality of the last few releases. I always think that it's pretty mind-blowing how these games (the Switch releases specifically) remain so successful in spite of their glaring shortcomings, but then comments like this serve as a reminder why they still continue to sell millions of copies.

Pokemon Snap was created by completely different developers - I wouldn't necessarily look for any connection, also this first leak is not even a
"leak", but common sense, of course, since the anniversary is approaching, they will give it gen 10 - that's what happened with gen 7

They have no excuse not to give Flygon a Mega. It's been 10 years now. Also they need to make Eternal Floette able to be caught just like ORAS made Deoxys and PLA Manaphy catchable.
cute yall think time would fix their problems. the problem with GF is that they still operate as if they were a little indie studio. they need bigger teams, more professional ppl when it comes to technology and maybe a good writing team... sure additional time can help but i doubt in GF's case it will.
While I agree, I do think that for a little indie studio, they make good stuff within 3 years time. A little more time (1-2 more years) per game would give them enough time to polish the games, as well as add additional content, before release. If they announced that was their plan, I (Much like many others, I believe) would happily wait the extra time. The problem is they're leaving everyone in the dark.
The words of meaningless without a Gameplay. I'm sold or not based on what the Gameplay is. And I'm not a fan of style mechanics of Legends as it is. But this is a new game can't tie it to its predecessor. However a game play would help me choose what to do as Buy or not

If we can get a Pokemon game with as great as a story as S/V with quality akin to BotW’s, we could possibly get the greatest Pokemon game ever.
Of course, I’ll doubt they’ll ever be able to make a story better than S/V’s. Maybe for Gen 18’s S/V remake

For one legends is just a name so it can be past or present or future. Legends is a story or something from the past and it can be told in any time. 😅😂
With your logic, you’re “playing as someone listening to a story” as opposed to “us, being the one to play as a character in that story”

@@ginpachi1 The legend could have already happened and maybe something that happened on the legend is happening again. I think we are limiting the potential just by saying that legends are only present on the past, when you can hear it in any time.
I can see generation 10 being at the 30th anniversary in 2026. That will have Pokémon horizons been 3 years long since horizons was delayed into spring of 2023 and not late 2022. And I doubt the main line anime is going to be 2 years long if gen 10 is released in 2025 and the fact that the anime has never lasted 2 years before like 3 or 4 years long. Just like the 10th anniversary with gen 4’s release in 2006 and the 20th anniversary of sun and moon’s release in 2016. If gen 10 is released in 2026, that will mean that gen 9 will have to last 2 more years including vgc in scarlet and violet as well. legends z-a will probably not be a competitive game just like legends arceus was either. Scarlet and violet will most likely be the only game to support vgc just like sword and shield were.
I expect a Pokémon presents in august. Gen 9 could be 4 years long just like how generation 3 and 4 were that’s if gen 10 is released in 2026. A generation being 4 years long isn’t surprising in the slightest since it’s happened two times before. It’s just that it hasn’t happened in a long while now. They have some things to talk about in that august presents next month. What better way to celebrate the 30th anniversary for Pokémon than for a new generation in 2026 just like the 20th anniversary and the 10th anniversary.

I just wish we got some information because it's been 5 months...
Having a city environment instead of a natural one might be really interesting as a take on Pokemon.
Also, the man-made textures will probably be easier in terms of making them look okay vs. natural ones spread over a large area, that require a lot of irregular detail to look right. Even if it doesn't look notably better, it might still end up looking better than Legends: Arkoos.

"Spinoff" and "Canon" are not mutually exclusives
The Pokemon Ranger games are spinoffs and they are Canon to the Mainline Universe. Dream Radar is canon too, as are Ranch, Bank and Home.
Now, I know that even if GF itself wasn't involved with Ranger, Creatures Inc was, so MAYBE that's why. But the point still stands, a game can be a Spinoff and still be Canon.
New Snap was made by Bandai Namco, who Nintendo have had a close relationship in the last few years, so it wouldn't be so crazy to think they would trust them with making the side game.
They've already did something similar eith ILCA, who were the ones making BDSP after making Home.
you know, that mural in pokemon snap could also probably be a secret to unlocking some random legendary, like how you had to read a book from bdsp to get manaphy in pla.

I think that something like Prime 4 or Legends ZA sound exciting as a launch title for Switch 2, but since Switch is so successful unlike Wii U back in the day, having a cross gen game like Breath of the Wild will not work as well. So my thinking is that both Prime 4 and Legends ZA will be cross gen in some way, but a bit later into the year. Both launch window though. Instead I think we have something totally new and original exclusive for Switch 2 day 1.

I think I might of cracked the code on how the game might work, let me explain. They literally show from the teaser how the game is going to play out. Towards the end and it’s the drawing of the city. It’s separated into 5 parts of the city. Same thing as legends arceus, you’ll have the home base which I think it’s the Lumiose Gym which is already built. And you can go out every direction and it’s a different part of the city same like arceus but a little more open if that makes sense. Then you progressly help each section of the city and unlock the next part of the city as you progress through the game.
I know it sounds confusing but it doesn’t. Think about how in X and Y, you had 4 entrances in the gym even with photos it shows it has 4 entrances. But either way
I think it would be a really dope way to use the gym as a home base because that’s where you can introduce a younger version of Clemonts dad (Meyer) and his grandfather which I think is the original owner of the gym. Just my thoughts

TL;DR, there's circumstantial evidence to say it's in the past and none of the future evidence is fairly strong.
Legends ZA will be in the past. Pokemon in general is already fairly futuristic so if there going to be making a time period stylized pokemon game, it will be the past or VERY far into the future. Not only that but the urban redevelopment project in paris happens withing 50 or so years of when Hisui took place. And nothing in the trailer suggests that it would be far off into the future. I've seen people say that baseball caps means that it's in the future but base ball caps existed around the time this game would theoretically take place in (basing it off paris' urban redevelopment). I've seen people say that pokeballs prove it but A, the pokeball we see in the trailer is too small to tell whether it's and older one or not, and B, we know that different regions develop different technologies at different times. And Kalos is fairly advanced compared to a lot of older regions like SInnoh. People argued that the logo shown was futuristic, but we've seen logos like that in legends where the corp logos aren't exactly of that time.
Finally, we get shown a blueprint of modern Kalos. Not future, modern. It looks to me like the holographic city we're shown is there to be for the sake of the teaser since it clearly isn't game footage. It doesn't make much sense that they'd be drawing blue prints of modern kalos if they were trying to build future kalos. Not only that but makes way more sense for them to be drawing modern kalos if they were in the past.
Yeah, I feel like that "futuristic Kalos scene" was just us inside the blueprint. It was stylistic; not to be taken as a hint. Kalos, in my opinion, has always given off a futuristic vibe with things like the holo-puck thingy and the Pokédex having a holographic screen. I imagine it will take place in the past, but wouldn't it be awesome if we could somehow travel between present and past to solve some sort of ancient mystery or something? Maybe that's what Z-A means; that we'll be bouncing back and forth between ancient and modern Lumiose. Just a thought.

@@Adewayy I don't know about that. There's a very interesting history outline in Kalos that could be explored and explained. Not having too much explanation of ancient Kalos atm allows TPC to take it, basically any direction they want to. Of course what I'm suggesting is probably way too high expectations for a Game Freak game; but I think the overall plot _could_ work if they had the right story writer.
@@Manopat243 well sure, but you could say that about most Pokemon games. But it simply wouldn't be natural for a time travel game to happen outside of sinnoh, Johto, paldea, or maybe alola. Kanto, hoenn, unova, Kalos, and galar have nothing to do with time travel. So it's not a natural story element to weave heavily into the plot.

We need another battle tower where you can battle all the gym leaders and champions and even legendary trainers as well as professors. I enjoyed this from the black2 white2 series and feel like it would home to have some serious battles with all of our fav trainers from all games

Z through A.
Were going to get a lot of time dedicated to this game
its going to constantly get updates constantly adding to the game size over update periods like smash characters. In these updates they will drop a new location that we are going to urbanize and make our own kinda like black city and white forest in BW, Eventually this game will be the open world pokemon game we built ourselves. Being our new Generation X

The cross gen conversation for Switch -> Switch 2 is a little strange though because remember... Switch 2 is vastly more powerful. The geometry and everything it going to be way different on Switch 2. So cross gen would mean that they were Switch games... but then just slightly enhanced for Switch 2.... The difference between native Switch 2 titles and these supposed cross gen titles will be massive. Even with... the cartoony games... I mean look at Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart compared to Mario Odyssey.. There's pretty much nothing they can do to make Metroid Prime 4 be on par with Switch 2 launch titles even. This is what I'm thinking, that's why I'm unsure if Legends ZA will really be crossgen when you can just buy the Switch version and put it in your Switch 2. Especially with same day release. But maybe they just do it anyways.
Thing is with Prime 4, it runs at 900p. Yes it won't look as good as Switch 2 games later on, but if Prime 4 does have a Switch 2 version, it would still look visually great. 1440p upscaled to 4K, perfect 60 FPS, improved textures and improved lighting. Then they could def add a performance mode or a mode in between the quality and performance mode for higher refresh rate displays. It would be great to play, but a Metroid Prime 5 built on Switch 2 would blow it out of the water but Prime 4 on Switch 2 would still visually look good.
Call it wishful thinking, but I think they shouldn't release gen 10 on 2026, but instead *"Ultra"* versions of Scarlet & Violet. Aside from graphics, they already have enough time to overhaul the broken base game into something better.

Not really, origin form was already in Platinum since Giratina had one. It just made sense giving one to Dialga and Palkia as well. None of the 3 gen 6 legendaries had a mega.
The first game on Switch 2 we see will be the new Mario.
After they show this little bit of nothing, nintendo got silent. And that is not they style. Maybe pkmn is finaly crushing in the ground.
Oh and release 2025 dont mean that comes to the end if 25. It could be coming way earlier. Like the last legends game. So there is NO extra time 😉
This game gets me so excited that I not only get to experience other mega’s that aren’t kanto for the first time in a proper Pokémon game but also a game that’s basically bringing back everything they tried to do during the working of x and y, if this game manages to succeed and actually win over the community of Pokémon it will be a storm of goodwill, can only hope they do this well.

Haven't played a pokemon game since black 1, I still cared for pokemon past that.
Just never bought a 3DS, So never had the chance to play the later games...
Won't ever buy/play the switch games though... maybe platinum.
All I know is not to get my hopes up, and that I'm not buying the idea "TPC is giving GF more time to develop games now!"
If you look at previous releases, Pokemon Legends began development midway through Sw/Sh, then released the following year after the DLC wrapped up.
We just wrapped up Scarlet & Violet's DLC this year, with Legends Z-A scheduled for next year. If it releases in the first half of the year, then it got a couple extra months of dev time. Whoop-dee-do.
And if gen 10 releases ANYWHERE in 2025, then it's just about the same exact pace as before.
I truly hope GF somehow gets a significant amount of additional time, while also recognizing their small teams should've expanded a long time ago to scale up with more powerful systems.
I am excited about what new info we could get on Legends Z-A in the near future. After the travesty of X and Y, it will be nice to play their redemption game.

@@meatbasedvegan4859 X and Y had so many problems in my eyes. Boring rivals, bland gym leaders for the most part, boring elite four members except Wikstrom, terrible evil team, boring champion, A LOT of things that could have been expanded upon and weren't, and other things.
The only good things I can say about X and Y are that they introduced clothing options, mega evolution, the Looker post game, a pretty good set of pokemon, a couple really cool gym leaders, and sky battles.
Did you even play New Pokemon Snap? The story explains that those 5 pokemon helped Xerneas create a barrier to protect the world from meteors or something like that (I forget exactly what the threat was) Has nothing to do with megas.
First rule in this day and age regardless which video game industry : Show don't tell. All the promises are worthless until proven
I’m waiting to decide to buy the game. I’m not preordering like I did with violet as I felt scammed by how unfinished it was.
One issue I have with Z-A is, I have no interest in Zygarde, it was a ugly designed Pokemon, and wasn't that good lol. He's no Arceus.

Why is everyone saying they taking time to make the game good when this is just the normal timeline the only difference is that we might not get a remake this year. That all but if we did then we get a remake this year and a new game next year and the next gen the following year so stop it they not taking time to make the game good. It just looks like it because we might not a game this year that all. 😂😅

It really depends for how long Legends Z-A has been on development and when exactly it will release, if the game realises late next year they defenetly took more time to develop the game. We would just have to wait and see.

On the other, they also got a subsidiary in Pokemon Works who can handle remakes and spinoffs so why not just have them handle releases in the meantime?
Not to mention even with nore time, people are still complaining about that. A year without games is hard enough. But having to wait til November of next year is just straight up unacceptable if that's what they have in mind
Just put ZA out in January or April of next year and give us something in November that year to make up for this ridiculous period of waiting with no news

@@aipomsonito33 no matter how much time they're going to take, there's still going to be SOME bugs in it. And even if there aren't, there's still something people will complain about. The story, the Pokemon, the region, the features, anything else they don't like. No amount of extra time is going to make a perfect game with zero faults
