Good call, I have tried blobbing line before and I tend to melt everything except the piece I am supposed to be melting😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣, I might give it a try though, because you can start too long and adjust it down with a blob. A knot is less forgiving.
So like you, I pull it right up and gently blob it away from everything, then I can pull it back to the length I need. Great video though, hardly any of us left use spade hooks 😂
Thanks for sharing, Bob nudd himself uses spade end hooks for hair rigs, but he didn't show me how to tie it ! So, for years now, I've always wondered how to tie hair on a spade end hook. FYI, you can tie a knotless knot without having the ugly knot on the hair, which is how I do them. Simply form the loop with the band in it, then whip over the line up the shank. If I tie them for feeder fishing, I leave the tag end in place, which enables you to adjust the hair length to suit the bait being used. Anyway, I hope I made sense !!!!!
Awesome video mate 👍 I got it spot on at the 1st attempt thanks to the great explanation 👍 👌 Cant wait to try them out at the weekend cos like you im convinced it will be better than eyed hooks on the pole
I put the band on the front metal bent pin and tied normally then used a baiting needle to thread the line through and finish as you do and end with your idea of the knot
@@AverageAngler I don't think there is a real name. Anyway eye hook, rig built on the wire separately to then close on the hook with a knot not knot. Forgive me for the grammatical errors, but this is technical English and not being English I have some difficulty.
I have been using this method for some time but I.blob.the line instead of tying a knot. Its always been solid.

Thank you so much for uploading this. Nice and neat too. Easy to follow. I always think spades are neater. 👍

Makes perfect sense Paul, thanks for watching.
I’ve had a go at this after a couple of tries I got the hang of it it works very well and produces a nice loop
😊👍
A superb lesson. I prefer spades n I wondered if it was possible. Thanks so much for a massive help.
Glad you found it useful thanks for watching😊👍

Legend thank you, so simple. Thanks
No bother😊👍
Looks great and you make it look easy think it’s going to take. Quite a bit of practice 😮
Everything is easy with practice 😊😊👍
Life is too short so I’ll keep buying the blue sticks at my age .
I do love a preston pre tied SFL to be sure😊👍
Brilliant 🎉 can see this developing.
😊👍
Nicely done fella
Thanks, and Thanks for watching😊👍
just found this... Thankyou :)
😊😊👍
I tie my eyed hair rigs using a fly tying vice to hold the hook.
Yes mate you can use the match hooktier to do eye hairs too😊👍.
I do too m8,it is a lot easier when you are tying small hooks. When your fingers are not too sensitive and the eyes are not great the vice is the way.
Thanks for the video but I prefer the classic system.
What's would you call the classic system?

I can tie these but probably not to the quality of the guru hook lengths I buy pre tied plus it saves a load of time.
Pre-tied are really good quality these days😊👍
@@AverageAnglerbut don't do banded spades.
i use a gizmo for all my hooks eyed and spade
I think you can do it on those too.
Very good Jon Thank you,
Thanks again James fir watching and commenting😊👍
@@AverageAngler no problem Jon i know it helps with the algorithm,
😊👍
Nice one John 👍👍
Too fiddly for me tho 🙁 will also keep with the pre-tied 🤪
