      @@gizmotis I know, blink and you'll miss it, but here's the moment of the splice: ruclips.net/video/FYxjwN08eQk/видео.html (watch the rh crash cymbal)
      It's awesome for two reasons: 1) Yoyoka's so relaxed that 'the song plays her' - her movements in one take merge invisibly into the other. 2) It's yet another sign that she and her dad put fun first - not hung up on perfection.

    She’s obviously something really special, and her enthusiasm and joy bring me a lot of happiness listening to her and watching. But I want to say something to any young kids out there who play an instrument but maybe aren’t as far along as her. Don’t give up! Don’t be discouraged if you think you’re not as good as her. Be inspired by her instead! Not everyone develops at the same rate or in the same way. If you are passionate about playing music, and you practice, and you stick with it, one day you are going to surprise yourself at how good you’ve gotten. That’s a guarantee, take it to the bank.

    • @kwokalisaur
      @kwokalisaur 3 года назад +6

      Yes! An aspect of Yoyoka's learning is that she has no memory of *not* being a drummer!
      She was feeling the beats of her parents' band before she was born.
      You could say her approach to learning was 'inside out' compared to the rest of us.
      She and Akifumi have also shared hours and hours of footage of just experimental jamming - 'free sessions' - which are gold for observing how she goes about learning.

    Saw Yoyoka the other day at the studio where many uses for rehearsals and I wonder how come? The reason why is she has drum kits at home and she even has an exact setup of Bonzo's. Then through the vertical glass not that wide window on the door, I saw her practicing the double bass drum set up like the late Cozy Powell's. Oh yeah, she was playing Star Gazer and was playing just like Cozy, lol. She's still happening. She's just like an ordinary 11-year-old and humble, and that's great.

You have to look at some of her crazy covers from a year or two back, she will have you laughing. She has recently released two videos from that period which are awesome! Yoyoka has captured my interest for sure. She doesn't read music. It was described as with normal songs she picks them up in 1-2 listens, complex songs 5-6 listens. Crazy. She has played nearly all her life (I believe she started at 14mths old).
    She plays with the maturity of a 20yr player. She allows the emotion to come through, she plays so naturally. She's magical, that's all I can describe her playing.

    In addition to being an amazing world class drummer, she has been teaching her drumming techniques from back when she was 5 or 6. Many of those videos have not been translated into English but no matter. She is so expressive that when she is explaining how she practices for paradiddle or bass triplets the lesson comes through even if most of her viewers don’t understand a word. Once you begin to delve into her back catalog of videos you may find hours go by before you come up for air.

    11yrs3months old. 7yrs experience in the pubs and at carnivals etc. 2+years at major festivals, shows (tv fashion show etc), live tv, and sitting in with stadium bands (Fallout Boy, Cyndi Lauper incl drummer duet, Char and others joined HER band at a large outdoor festival, jammed with Carmine Appice while representing Pearl at NAMM, and pics at Eric's kit when KISS flew her to Tokyo... if only she hadn't broken her wrist on the playground!). She's had her own online "drum course" for 4yrs, although a year or two ago she started vlogging her new English/drum lessons and revealed that it's all by ear! She barely started reading music. But she's learning piano, guitar, bass, writes music and lyrics, even for TV themes & such, has 4 original albums out with the entire fam (dad's a pro, engineers her vids), and sings & plays... Wow, I hope she "makes it" HAHAHa! Check her channel. I like "Put Me Thru" cover of Anderson.Paak ruclips.net/video/MJemsoga8gc/видео.html , and "Take Cover" ruclips.net/video/7ozwshauRJs/видео.html cover/collab of MR.Big with Billy Sheehan himself (he also guested on family band "KaneaiYoyoka"'s latest song "Utopia" ruclips.net/video/WU7oR-R2HAY/видео.html )
