A genuine Gentleman. Not only is he gracious enough to watch someone as talented as Yoyoka do a cover of a timeless piece of music of which he was one of the creators, but he is humble, endearing and generous with his praise of Yoyoka and you can see that he truly feels the joy that Yoyoka feels when she is playing. Mr Ian Paice, Thank you for the music, I have always been in awe of your musical talent, and enjoy watching your reactions, insights and the sharing of your incredible knowledge and experience with the wider musical community, whether they be professionals or beginners. I myself could never aspire to be a drummer, (I have hands that are the equivalent of a dancers two left feet), so i will be a professional listener and enjoyer of drumming. Yoyoka, well done!!! Very impressive indeed, you go from strength to strength in your playing, you are going to be a force to be reckoned with as you continue your amazing journey developing your skills (which are already incredible) and continue to amaze and bring joy to us who are grateful for you sharing your talent with us. To you both, Thank you and Happy New Year!!!
This year yoyoka had many overseas jobs and TV appearance schedules, but all of them disappeared due to the virus. At the end of a tough year you gave yoyoka the best gift.
One of the greatest things about seeing these young kids playing some of the most classic tracks ever is the knowledge that this music still exists, it's still relevant, and it will live on forever! Long live Ian Paice, long live Deep Purple, long live ROCK AND ROLL!
When the chief of Ian's Tribe speak, everybody just stood still and listen. And speak he does, with highest praise to his little padawan from Japan. I'm imagining now that Yoyoka and her parents are smiling from ear to ear from your praise. Thank you Ian for making today the day for me as well...
Imagine that 11 year old girl in your spot at 1974 Calfornia Jam.! Wow, she's unbelievable and I'm sure she'll love the fact that have taken the time to watch her.
I don't know who was having more fun, Yoyoka, or Ian watching this. Ian is a real class act, many artists would block the video, be offended someone covered their material, etc. But he seems genuinely chuffed and happily humble.
Ian - the girl is still at it, still dying to meet you, I am certain. Imagine her, years later - able to mention having met you. I think she deserves this! Of all the drummers she could have covered, attempted to emulate: she sure has focused much on your works. Considering her AGE - this is flattery at it's best! She needs to work on her Buddy Rich some. Get on her about that! You are the last surviving drum great of your era in rock that she has a reasonable opportunity to meet. Please invest in this young prodigy - that visit, pass the torch, share your gift with her generation through her. Because of HER - I have discovered 98% of what I know about you, I have suddenly developed a true appreciation for your works thanks to this child. I now rank you and Deep Purple among my top three favorite vinyls to buy...thanks to her. And I am pushing 60. We are getting old fast, aren't we? Please don't procrastinate this visit too long! Just show up at her house!
Yoyoka and her family are now in the United States. It would mean everything to her, and I'm sure to all your fans who follow you as well. I believe she is now living in Los Angeles, CA.
Ian Paice : I see many guy's in coverbands.. trying to do this song...3 or 4 times her age and they can't do it....she nailed it.. "Yoyoka nailed it"... :)
It's because she is completely self taught by ear. She has only started to learn how to read music recently. She doesn't copy the song 1:1 and adds her flavor to it. Also she learns the songs she plays on youtube usually in 1-3 hours by ear and plays it in one take. I'm glad she is now recognized by her talent and not just being a cute kid who can play the drums.
I knew this would blow Ian's mind!! I think he was truly surprised how good she is. He said more than once, "shes better than me" ! So glad he did this reaction. He is a truly fantastic and humble person :)
Yoyoka doesn't surprise me anymore. It seems there isn't anything she can't play. Mr Paice was the surprise here. What an extraordinary gentleman. I would love to see him and Yoyoka play together.

Wait till I tell Yoyoka that Ian Paice wants to meet her!! I'll wait till her dad gives a 48-hour notice of an upcoming upload and write it to him in Japanese. They usually read the first 20 or so comments. Yoyoka's work up until now has been nothing short of epic and genius, but that video there will be a groundbreaking turning point for her on the world stage. "The best thing is, she's having fun." Exactly! I've been following young Yoyoka for the past few years now on RUclips. Not long after I initially learned of her, my reactions were similar to Ian's but more animated (they still are).
