Hi Jo, - slowly working my way through your videos enjoying them as I go. I wonder if you could take a few minutes to show the header knife you use in more detail. I would like to make one similar / or commission one from a UK knife maker. I can not see from your videos if the cutting edge is beveled both sides or flat on the leather side and beveled on the waste side of the cut or simply beveled on both sides ? Hi Mat, it's shaped both sides so can be held in multiple ways when cutting and skiving. If you email me on info@jhleather.co.uk I can draw around it and send some images to you if you would like. Jo

Do you sand and then burnish the edges, what steps do you take there...or do you only finish the edge with the bone, just wondering? Thanks in advance..
Hello, glad to hear you like the videos 😁. I got the glue pot from Abbey England (they do international shipping if you are outside the UK) and use contact adhesive for gluing. It depends on how the edges have come together really, I usually just stain and polish with the bone but of there are multiple layers of leather then I do sand these to get them as flush as possible and to get it to look like all 1 piece on the edge. Hope that makes sense, Jo
Hiya, yes I use the bone to polish the edges of the leather, depending on how hard to press on the edge they can flatten out but afterwards you can run the bone over them to get them round again. Hope that makes sense! Thanks Jo

How far (mm) the spaces between the holes?
Hiya, do you mean the stitching holes? I used a number 7 stitch marker if that helps...

Yeah, my friends dad made them up. You can use rubber matting or I just used to use a strap piece of leather.

Yes you could easily do that, this was the first one I had made and was a test for one I had on order who wanted just a pocket there

Have to agree. Maybe a small piece of metal and button magnet. Stitch the magnet into the tab and steel into the cover flap
