Thanks for the video, i make leather things to myself, with diy tools i made and that will be my next project, i realy like the way you explain, sorry for bad english i am from Brazil and i have learned english all by myself with music and movies.
I loved what you did. I added my own twist to it. Instead of stitching down the case, I use magnet attached to the case and phone wallet to make it removable. The casing i am using have a raised side, thus I am able to glue a thin piece of leather to the back of the casing with one side of the magnet. Now I have a removable phone wallet :D
Outstanding video. I just got started in Leather crafting and love. the entire medium of creativity that comes from working with leather. Thank you for the tutorial and design idea. Cheers.
Use 2" wide black grosgrain ribbon for the card pouch pockets instead of cutting strips of cloth. Grosgrain ribbon ravels only on the cut ends but not along the sides. Prevent the raveling on the ends by searing with a cigarrette lighter.
As you might expect, experience will improve the film making techniques. However, your curve has now taken you to a very high level. As good as it gets. Your films now showcase your work as they deserve. I understand that the required length of the film mean that you cram a lot in - I have to watch several times to follow the process properly. A good way to increase the number of views. Seriously, great work, very well filmed. Keep it coming
wow, you are amazing. Your job is very good. I want to learn how to make leather phone wallets. A very good business right now here in my country, Venezuela.
Excellent as always, I did something similar, the only difference is I carved a dragon on the bottom of the card pockets, the customer really liked it. GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃
I’ve been using one of these for a year or so now and while I love the design, I’m finding that the inner fold between the two panels is suffering badly from wear. I wonder if there’s some way of mitigating this? Or perhaps you could come up with a v2 design. Thanks.
Hey JH, nice work . First time to your channel I really like it. Very good job. I think I'm a stick around for a while. And maybe MAKE and follow you. Thanks for sharing and I'll be watching.
J. When you were stitching the credit card panel to the tabbed panel the thread looked as if it had glue residue on it. Is that the case? If so is that just a simple wash off? If not, what would it be then?
@@JHLeather I’ve bought a case from Amazon. Would you be able to make a video of how to replace and remove the phone case to add a new one. I’ve bought the tucch leather case but want to replace the soft case with a hard heavy duty one.
I got mine from Abbey England www.abbeyengland.com/abbey-traditional-pricking-iron-set-right-hand-9942.html they do both right and left handed ones as well as a cheaper set which is also very good.
The tool is called a screw crease and it draws a decorative line along the edge of the leather. By heating the crease it gives a better and more permanent line. Hope that makes sense. Jo
Amazing work, although I have one question. It appears the cloth stoppers for the credit cards shown at 6:09 are glued in place. Did you stitch those later? Thanks again.....KB.
Hiya, nope they are just glued in. I used contact adhesive which is super strong. I did a load of tests before and didn't have any issues so no need to stitch.
I have a Pixel 7 and have been unable to find a suitable case. There are a lot of option but none that really solve use with the phone. My first problem is that it has to be capable of a wireless charge so no metal can be use on the backside. Second problem is that the opening for the camera has to be bigger. I would prefer it to be made smaller but that too has problem associated with it. In order to be able to use the camera, there has to be a fold in the middle of the back so the case can fold back over itself. So far all of this is doable with your beautiful design. The one issue that I have is position of the magnetic strap. Rather than have the strap on the phone side, I would rather have the strap on the card side. That way I don't see the strap when the wallet is open. In fact, I would like to eliminate the strap altogether. That's my biggest problem - how to create a strap that doesn't get in the way. Or, how to create a locking device that works without creating a wireless charging problem. If you can solve that problem you have a winning solution. Every case out there for a Pixel 7, and possibly other phones as well, has the strap problem. I was wondering if you could just make the smallest possible strap that just folds around the edge of the phone and into a loop, like a tight belt loop, and just holds it there? It doesn't even have to be a strap. Just a way to keep the phone closed. Basically, you just keep the phone from opening if its dropped or mishandled, etc. Do you think that would work or is there an even better solution? As to the case, beautiful. Very nice workmanship! Thanks.
Wow that‘s very fast! It took me 5 hours to create my first one :) Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us and for creating great tutorials.
For those that don't like the hammered hole punches, try these. I use them on all kinds of material. www.harborfreight.com/6-piece-hollow-punch-set-67030.html
Hiya, I don't have any patterns for this as it is dependent on the phone you are making the case for. If you follow the video it says how to create your own patterns.
Nice - it's about time you got a decent hammer, and a Watt Crispin at that. Now it's time to upgrade that mankey punch-plate you use. At least change out the plastic.
May I know what's the temperature you set and how long you place your edge creaser on top. Very interesting approach. ruclips.net/video/17RCbXbVSAk/видео.html
It's not a very scientific approach, I set the plate to full power and then after years of using it I generally know when it's ready, usually about 30 seconds. Have some scrap leather to test on so you know if it's too hot.
That used to be a problem with magnetic stripe cards, but these days almost all cards either use an EMV chip with contact pads, or a wireless RFID chip.
This is a nice and high-quality mobile phone case.
It's always nice to see someone making high-quality things.

@@JHLeather that's awesome, I'd love to have another hobby to try out during covid but this looks tough! And all the tools 😲
It's a great craft to get into but yes, there are a few tools needed....
But you can do allot with say... $50 of tools and stuff you've got laying around the house.
Great but do you have to use imperial dimensions? I really only use metric, millimetres and centimetres.
You can use google to convert them in to mm
