Nice to see someone in the US talk about dead baiting for pike on open water. Almost every video on youtube involving pike and dead bait is from the UK. Those UK'ers have it down to an art.
Great tip! Thanks will have to try it out. I normally just use a treble hook through the middle of the bait and have pretty good luck with it. Have you tried using creek chubs? They are little more durable and last longer.

Yes, we can learn a lot from them when it comes to dead bait fishing!
Great way to catch trophy pike in the spring. Great tip on using the wire stiffener to keep the dead bait "mostly" rigid.
Yes, they are more of a springtime bait. Thanks for watching, KPO.
Nice rig Dave. Going out looking for smelt tonight. 31 degrees really sucks though.
Good luck. I sadly have been buying smelt for several years now. Smelting has been very hit or miss by me for a while now, KPO.
Awesome idea thanks
Thanks for watching, KPO.
Great idea, thanks for sharing I will throw some copper wire in with my tackle. Keep up the great content.
Thanks for the feed back and thanks for watching, KPO.
Another way is to use SPIDER THREAD and wrap it along each hook and twice on the body and your good to go.
cool

Yes, chubs are very durable. Especially if freshly dead, not frozen. But not as easy for me to get bigger ones. Let me know how it works for you, KPO.
