I’ve spent so many hours in front of a TV growing up.
I’m 46 now and find myself watching more RUclips content than TV content.
That being said, TVs have their place. We typically watch 2 hours max of TV each night, usually from 8-10.

Great job! I just finished building a fireplace as well, and even though I haven't owned a TV for more than 10 years, I still roughed in the wires and cables just in case the next buyer wants a TV.

Wow, I absolutely love this! I wanna do that in my new home but with a TV on top and my husband wants us to do it ourselves but I kept telling him No because we have never built anything and I don’t have the patience but you made it look so easy!!! What a way to had dimension and character to your all’s room and space! Great job. On the TV question: suggest finding another place your home for the TV. TVs above the fireplace look like don’t look good. However to each they’re own. One suggestion is gat some speakers (perhaps even small built-ins for some nice music to go with those amazing dancing flames. May have to put one of those fire places in our outdoor living spaces by the pool.
So helpful! I've been wanting to install a fireplace outcropping with drywall, but nearly everyone is using shiplap... Cute but not my vibe. This is exactly what I needed for inspiration. Looks lovely!

Nice job! I had my TV above my fireplace, and didn't like looking up at it, so I moved it to another wall where it is now eye level from my sofa.
Great job on this project. I'm currently in the middle of a large 8'x4' kitchen island build and it is very tedious, however fun. But you are inspiring to watch for sure! Thanks for the videos. And No, don't put TV above the fireplace, it takes away from what is suppose to be the focal point 😉

We bought a house with a large fireplace with television hookups above the fireplace. The television ended up being too high to watch comfortably. We hung a mirror there instead and moved the television elsewhere. We now have moved and I miss having that large fireplace, even though we rarely used it because it's too hot where we live. I'm looking to build an electric fireplace in my living room, the electric fireplaces have a no-heat setting. That is nice, no more melted chocolate in our Christmas stockings.

A tip for caulking, the surface needs sealed with primer first then caulk, this will keep the caulk from cracking due to soaking into non sealed surface.
