I am trying to troubleshoot intermittent misfire issue on 7th gen civic. Please explain what would harm would leaking air gets in the air box. This engines does not use the Mass air flow sensor, I understand there is a slight risk of debris getting in airbox which will be stopped by filter. Secondly throttle body is located at the bottom of air box. so all of the extra air would still make its way to the throttle body.

I got one of these cars they're good real good
Another thing that kinda sucked about the 7th gen civics is the fact that they got rid of the double wishbone suspension which was a superior suspension design compared to the new single arm McPherson strut design.

My 03 civic had 107k miles and broke down on me the other day . Took it to the mechanic he said the engine is broken , now I have to do an engine swap or junk the car .I overfilled the oil 2 months ago and had to take some out I think the excess oil might’ve fucked up my engine .
I have 2x of 7th gen (2003 3 door EP2 and 2002 5 door EU8, EU models), they came with additional clips on OEM filter box, was bit surprised that this one has no clips there.
I've got a 2001 Civic XL manual transmission with only 81k miles on it. I'll have to check to see if my car has this problem. It RUNS GREAT and everything WORKS. I've only had it right at a month and haven't driven it much, I also have a 2000 Subaru Outback automatic with 180k miles on it and a 2002 Ford Focus ZX5 also with a manual transmission with 205k miles on it. Obviously the Civic gets the best mileage 28-30 round town with the AIR CONDITIONING on and 39-40 on the hywy. The Focus gets 25-26 around town and 30+ on the hywy with 2 other large people in the car, don't drive it much. The Outback gets 16-17 around town with AIR ON and 30 on the hywy without AIR ON. I drive the Outback if I need cargo space or if I know I will be caught in HEAVY TRAFFIC, manual is THE PITS in HEAVY TRAFFIC. I LOVE THE GAS MILEAGE I GET FROM THE CIVIC and it's a GOOD HYWY CRUISER.😮😊😊😊😊

Hey brother I own that same civic but in black.I took out the factory air box and used a short cold air intake, also I’m running royal purple full synthetic oil which I started using it at around 155k and as of today it’s at 170k and still running strong 6 oil changes later.
If you decide to use a set of headers do yourself a favor and look up what is called a O2 sensor spacers from eBay it’s cheap and shuts off the check engine light “eliminates P0420 code
HI Dear. I have the same 2002 Civic Automatic with dual vtec engine. I'm planning to install an after market cold air intake. So, what do you say? Will it enhance the power in an automatic transmission?

I have an 01 civic ex. I put a k&n intake stainless steel exhaust manifold magna flow cat back exhaust on it. I really wanna boost it. Probably do a b18c3 swap on it bc the transmission is a right hander unlike the k series.
YES! Just discovered this on a 2002 Civic EX. The fastening design is *CRAP*. The base's retaining plastic gets brittle and cracks away from the screw anchors, causing them to spin freely and/or fly out completely. Should have designed with retaining clips, you know, like everyone else does!! Replacement base is over $50... lame.
Great video do you know anything about the 2005 civic4wd? Want to buy one but the 4wd version is rare worried if I would get parts for it. Can the 2wd tranny works with it
It's actually a good design, and the stripped screws aren't a design flaw, but operator error. If the screws weren't stripped, the intake would be very quiet. Also, power gains from switching to a short ram intake pipe are negligible.
The design is just fine LOL, the left portion of the intake is called a resonator it keeps the intake quiet for less noise inside the cabin. These engines don't need to breathe more the intake flows plenty of air for the stock engine. Your screws are stripped because people have abused them. Calling in a poor design is ignorant.
Hello, you who know a lot about the Civic, which brand of engine mounts you recommend, since the OEMs are expensive and most of the aftermarket are Chinese of poor quality that another brand has used mounts that come into play and are not so expensive and come out good. and eliminate engine vibration. for a Civic 2003
@@thronewalker1153 What brand of generic motor mounts do you recommend since I have searched Amazon and if there are, but you do not have very good opinions about the vibration and durability of them.
I just took mine off and drove it 600miles to a rally and back. I thought it was going to suck up a bunch of water but it stayed pretty dry. I believe that I lost some low end torque going up long hills by just leaving the intake open. I think that the vacuum effect in the long intake is designed to change the velocity of the air as it is drawn into the engine. It also sounds pretty cool if you just take it off. 😂

1:39 That's the resonator. It's purpose is to smooth the airflow going into the airbox and also to quiet the engine a bit.

Have you purchased a OEM replacement intake or an aftermarket one? Do you have the link for it? This'll be useful for my EM2.
I Installed a short ram intake. Here's the link: www.amazon.com/Rtunes-Racing-Short-Intake-Filter/dp/B07FN3ZWD6
Just stripped mine. I removed the resonator. I will see what happens
Aftermarket is the way to go , it gives it a little more throttle response and a nicer sound compared to the factory ones

I’m looking at a 2002 Honda Civic 123k miles for 4.5 k. Do you think it’s worth it for the issues it has?
If it runs good and was well maintained it's probably worth the money.
Did you purchase it? Curious cause I'm thinking of buying one too. 2002 Honda Civic lx 130k miles 3.5k 5spd manual.
That airbox issue is not a big problem, it's a user error on the person that is working on it or owner
