In the fall, we need to "tone back" and slowly reduce the lawn fertilizer in granular form. This is due to granulars lasting and feeding for up to 10 weeks. This slow feeding of the lawn can result in extra lawn energy at times when our lawn wants to store nutrients for the winter. This is not good. You last fall fertilizer should be when daytime temps are in the 80s. Then switch over to Super Juice which can be applied every two weeks until the cold weather hits.

But this doesn’t apply to cooler season grass does it? Or is this just across the board for general lawn health? I live in the PNW (45min N of Seattle) & my lawn obviously flourishes thru fall and especially spring. Growth slows in winter but stays green for most part. Summer It goes dormant about halfway through maybe late July & I’m left with a brown lawn. That is in town I was finally given the keys to the kingdom lol now I’m “ in control in charge of the lawns health.“ ⛳️🤴🏼

Hey Doc, I'm here in GA too, brother. Right next to Augusta National Golf club. Temperatures of 97 today🌡 with these hotter temperatures when should you be laying fall pre-emergent this year?
You target the weed germination.... most winter weeds like 70 degree SOIL temp. So maybe late Oct based on weather.
I did my super juice a week ago
My neighbor went to Alaska for 2 months and his gardener came and mowed the lawn but never watered. So now it's all brown and we have been watering it for a week and it is still brown with a slight hint of green but not much. I think it needs some of your super juice or maybe more like PPG, I'm not sure. We would like to have it back to green when he comes back home next month. It used to be green until it didn't get any water. Great videos Doc, you're a wealth of information.

Needs deep watering such as watering over night for 8 hours or so. If it pools, then compaction has set in because the soil dried out. Liquid and/or mechanical aeration will be needed. Then you can get the fert like PGF Complete in there and water that real deep too. If it's a Bermuda lawn, it will bounce back within a week or so. The big problem with severe drought is the soil drying out and getting compacted. That has to be dealt with in order to get nutrients and air down to root zone.

Ok doc please try to get a better bag I’ve done what u said and have a Hard rock. Does temperature have anything to do with it? So should I keep super juice in the house? When I buy my next bag.
Hi Doc.. been trying to understand more about lawn care.. Just had some sod laid in this Texas weather. Been having a lot of rain this week or so.. would is a good start to put on my Bermuda grass.. or just give it time for roots to grow.. thanks for your help

My Front lawn looks phenomenal after two bags of PGF complete! Also scarified, aerated & overseeded. Two bags of PGF Complete. Dominating right now. 😁😎 is like to get my norther cool season fescue down to 2” some day. It’s at 3” now and looks high. 🤔
for cool season (NY) when should the last PGF application be? I've been putting 1/2 bag rate every 2 weeks or so on a renovated lawn.. never been fertilized but is looking bomb!

I live in MN. Can I leave my bags of SuperJuice in my garage or would it be bad if it freezes?
Put them in air tight trash bags, then store them. You just want to keep moisture out.

I have a lawn care company and they put down a granular fertilizer about 3 weeks ago... can I put down pgf complete and super juice already? (Cool season grass)
If they applied a granular... I would only do light SJ.... that's it.
Question. Its early spring here. I dont have Bermuda grass but yes I'm a channel subscriber. I want to scalp, spray for lawn weeds and put down fertilizer. I have a week off work early next month. Is it ok to do each step on consecutive days? In what order?. Love the channel, cant wait to see a shed update. On a laugh side that crows sounding off cos your lawn looks dead. Why is it that they won't ship pgf complete international?
You can do it all the same day. But, I don't think you need to SCALP if you don't have a lot of brown grass.
Can you use super juice in the summer heat ?
Thank you very much for all your videos they are extremely useful. One question I live in Phoenix Az and I scalp my Bermuda grass this time of year and overseed with rye grass seed can I use PGF complete or is super juice better for the rye grass?
Probably go to PGF since the NEW lawn will eat up a volume of nutrients.

Let me ask you something DOC, why can't you PUSH your lawn through the fall till a short period after, how would it hurt it?
You let it slowly go to rest so it can store nutrients and energy for the winter rest.
Super Juice is a wonderful product and I understand even more of how it is to be used especially with your references to how golf courses use them prior to a television broadcast. My only issue is the price. $80 is just too much for what it is for how much you get. I would expect to pay between $30 - $50 for that bag. I think could mix my own concoction for about that.
Mix away........ it's 79 including shipping and covers 2 acres. I simply got tired of all the "crap" lying around the garage trying mix my own... and it ended up being about the same cost.
Hey Doc, I live in Charlotte, NC so I'm dealing with very similar weather as you. I may have the opportunity to access some top soil and have been wanting to do some leveling on my front yard. Do you think it's too late in the year to consider doing that, or will all this hot weather keep the window open longer?
Tough call really... I only do leveling during ACTIVE growing times.

Hey Doc! I finally learned how to post a comment. I am finally over seeding tomorrow on Long Island. I am using XSTART and thinking about spraying with Super Juice and Tenacity. Any thoughts?
Have you done a soil test? I'm not a fan of starters or winterizers unless the soil shows an imbalance.
@@HowTowithDoc No, I didn't do a soil test. I have been sticking to the bag rate of both the PGF COMPLETE and Superjuice. My lawn is super healthy and green and all summer long I have had to mow every 48 hours even though we only had rain once every three weeks. I actually had to stop with both products in preparation for seeding. There was no way I could avoid mowing for two weeks to allow the seed to sprout at that growth rate. It was growing about an inch a day.
Honestly.... if you lawn is healthy, your soil is healthy. I would put anything down with the seed. High phos could lock up nutrients.

Winter is a good time to fix PH.... wait for the late winter for anything else.
