Doc, you are the man! I know I can speak for just about everyone that we appreciate all your videos with all your knowledge you give us for lawn care. Really appreciate it!
I finally got around to watch your Gabe Brown video...several hours and Gabe videos later, I'm amazed by how 'regenerative' this ND Farmer is. His passion for 'adding value' from producing to marketing, so that one "signs the back of the check instead of the front" really shines. He reminds me of a Bermuda Lawn Doc, who has a similar passion in his gift to us all.
Love your videos! I live in the Texas Hill country and the soil sucks! We grow more rocks than grass. But after watching your videos I have been able to grow some Bermuda grass in my yard. Every year it’s getting thicker and stronger just from following the Bermuda chart. It has helped a lot! Thank you for the videos
As usual, great info Doc. Homemade surfactant can be made with 2 tablespoons vegetable oil and 2 tablespoons mild liquid dish soap into 1 gallon of water
Thanks for touching on the wild bird issue I had asked about a few videos ago, I have wild turkeys. They will be nesting in the spring so we probably won't see them for a bit but I will report any issues with the chicken feed I see. They do scratch all around especially under bird feeders. Good video, very informative. Stay well, Tom
I'm so in love with this channel. I'm getting so educated. I'm working with 3 acres so it will take a couple of yrs to get it where I want it. Doc any recommendations for getting rid of sand burrs. They are a pain!
Hey Doc, just want to say Thank You for the great information. I live in Mobile AL and had Bermuda sod put down on my front yard last spring. Your videos are helping me protect my investment!
I’m in upstate SC, put down heavy coat of pre emergent about a month ago and still have weeds everywhere. Can I still spray a coat of dimension or is it too late for that?
Hey Doc, Bill from Seattle area here. Thanks for the vid's; even though our lawn types (Fescue and Rye) and Season (doesn't even get to 70's until June) are different, the principles you talk about are the same. Thanks for that. Question, I brew beer, and at the end of each brew session I have 30-40 pounds of spent grain, which I have been giving to a friend to feed his chickens. Do you think that grain (mainly barley, bye and wheat) would work in lieu of the chicken feed for providing organic matter?
Thanks Doc, started doing this last year on sod that was laid on red South Carolina clay. I now have earthworm piles in my yard. I never thought I would see worms in that red clay, it must be doing something good !
My soil is so sandy and it’s taken me years to figure this out. Sucks. 😣 I did some digging around on this. I’m wondering if I aerate and then throw chicken feed down with some other stuff down it will help get it down in the soil more. With peat moss also. 🤔 don’t have a ton to spend on this but the grubs already destroyed 1/3 of my yard already. 😣 had a nice yard for years. Grubs got out of control.
Dumb question but I bought the Hudson 2100 sprayer a few years ago when I started using Super Juice, what ratio does it spray. I have been checking on the Andersons bottles with no luck. Thank you for making me and my yard look so good to my wife.
First off, your channel is absolutely amazing! I watch it daily! I’m in southeastern NC, and have a hybrid Bermuda, Latitude 36 that incur with a Tru-Cut 27. I have some sections that have become bare and I’m unsure if it’s due to shade (large live oak nearby), poor soil, or damage. I was hopeful to send you some pics to get your input. Do you have any initial thoughts? Thanks Jon
How long can the Super Juice stay in the bottles before it goes bad, if it does? Same question for the super compost. Does it go bad after the heating process is complete?
If you have microbe booster in it, it's unclear the impact of time. Still testing. Without, about 1-2 weeks. The pile's fungus starts to degrade rather quickly but the nutrients are there for months.
Hi doc, how much of the microbial pack should be used per 1000sqft? I'm trying to figure out how much to buy to cover me for monthly applications this season
Hi Doc. how do you balance insecticides and microbes in the lawn, or do you just choose one over the other. I'm considering just putting an insecticide around the foundation of the house as apposed to the entire yard. Thank you for your knowledge and motivation.
Only one big problem for us in SWFL - if we spray in the evening the humidity and afternoon rains will guarantee big fungus (bad) problems!! I only water in the morning, will this system still work ok??
Exactly.... good fungus grows at night as well. It's a LIGHT spray not a deep watering and only done every 1-2 weeks. We're not talking about a "watering schedule".
What are the very tall green plants (shrubs?) up to the window tops at the front of the house, I think the garage? In video from the 18:25 mark on. Thanks!
Great video with a great deal of information. I do have a question which I hope you will be able to help those of "us" who have come across this issue in ordering these products. Super Juice can not be sold/shipped to those of "us" in South Dakota or California; Humi-Char can not be sold/shipped to those of us In Oregon, South Dakota or California and HumiDG (PGF Complete) can not be sold/shipped to South Dakota or California. Doc, could you recommend a substitutive for the Humi-Char and the Super Juice as I would like to stay as close to your receipt for your Liquid Lawn Supplement as possible. Keep up the Informative and Instructions videos they have been a great help to me. BTW. the wife really likes your ensemble at (min. 4:00), also having seen some of your earlier videos thinks you good far more handsome with your Beard than with out she said it really fits you. :-D May you and your family Be Healthy and Be Safe.
So, I got an answer for this on the FB group. In the video Doc states that he uses 5 bags of the 50lb chicken feed for his backyard which he has previously stated is ~18k sq. ft. Do the math and that comes out to 14lbs/1k sq. ft.
Doc - I follow you and watch your videos all the time. I am new to this and very confused at the moment. I live in middle GA as well and I would love to get 1/2 the type of lawn you have. When looking at the Bermuda Grass Calendar for March, I need help. Am I supposed to Scalp, Apply Pre-emergent, Jump Start, PGF Complete, Super Juice, Treat for bugs, Humichar, and Aerate all out at the same time? Please Help! Much appreciated and I will be buying your products. Please let me know if i am missing anything or not understanding the process.
Doc you need to listen to Gabe Brown you missed the no till aspect, every time you till your garden you destroy your garden microbiome. You don't need to till if your fungal activity is high the fungi literally takes the nutrients too the roots. Proud of you trying to promote the renagade ranchers. You could plant a poly cultural mixing cool an warm season grasses and legumes crimson and white Dutch clover to add nitrogen to the soil.
We CAN... turn our soils because of what we are doing with the organic matter and extremely high levels of fungus and microbes we add. His "no till" method is for larger farms and VERY large gardens. Our soil has been analyzed and blows away any such "no till" based on level of microbes, fungus, and CEC levels. BUT... I get your point and Gabes message is not lost, just modified.
Another thing, might be a conflict of interest they try not to put synthetic fertilizers in as inputs since you sell them. Hence interspecies cover crops, can't do it on a lawn necessarily but you can do a poly cultural planting. Pre world War 2 it was very common. Clover benifical add nitrogen to soils through nodules. Dandelions are super accumulator and they grow like a weed they indicate that you have to compacted soil.
Hey Doc. I have a 6 year old Bermuda lawn that I'm having treated by a professional company. The lawn looks great, no weeds just solid Bermuda. My only problem is the lawn looks thin. What can I do to thicken up my lawn without affecting the treatments I'm getting? Thanks for you help.
supplement the professional company with your own fert regimen... they most likely aren't giving you enough Nitrogen (I have to do the same thing). I generally treat the lawn with 1/2 - 3/4lb N per 1000 sq ft per Month during the growing season. If you look at what they put down, you're probably only getting half of what your Bermuda actually wants. The other thing you can do it cut it more often and force it to run horizontal when it grows instead of vertical. You basically teach it to grow a different way - after all, Bermuda is a weed and it will figure out how to spread.
Thanks for the great content and excellent production value. I was curious about introducing the microbes in proximity to the time that I apply Duocide and/or fungicide. Would applying these treatments impact the microbes? If so, how far appart should the applications spaced?
Doc, Have not heard anyone--- RUclipsr, use the word "ecosystem", in months, way to go! Great video, much better than sites that push their own products. Ken Anderson, E. TROY, WI
Hey im about to switch from winter rye to bermuda but I have some weed I was wondering if I should use pre emergent? If so before or after I put bermuda?
What kills microbes? Reason for my question, we have our pest control people spray or fog our lawn for musqeutos. Apparently it seems to work on ants also. Maybe other things. Not grubs or army worms though. Dont know the active ingredients in the fog but definitely don't want to put out microbes only to kill them every month.
Hey Doc...off topic here but is there some kind of shipping/warehouse issue with Anderson’s? It is taking forever to get product from them and it’s starting to cause issues with missed timeline periods..etc.
Thanks for the info. I think one of my issues has been starting TOO early in the Spring. Patience is a virtue with lawncare!
Doc is a great teacher and makes it so simple to follow! Thanks for all you do Doc!
Doc, you are the man! I know I can speak for just about everyone that we appreciate all your videos with all your knowledge you give us for lawn care. Really appreciate it!
Gabe Brown is a soil genius. I grew up about 70 miles away from his farm and I can concur it 100% absolutely works.

Thanks for the info. Second year working on my lawn, have learn so much watching your videos.

Don’t need the oil.
Any idea when super juice and the spray bottles will be back in stock Doc? Thanks for all you do have a great night.
I started using the crumbles last year. I’ve not had any bird issues at all.
Good to know.
Gabes video is actually interesting n can make the planet better

david brandt and ray archuleta are some sharp fellows as well with regards to soil health
would a fungicide application kill the good root and soil fungus as well?

I watched the video that Doc is saying to watch. It is really unbelievable how we as a nation have messed up our soil for so long. Watch it!
Worth it
Thanks Doc always a pleasure listening to you teach.
You've been pumping out the videos. Thanks for all the content.
Doc, I watched the video. Everything you talk about makes sense. Thank you
Welcome
Good info. Put out pgf complete and humichar out today. Zip 30019. Can't wait to see results.
I like it Doc... Kinda getting back to your "roots" w this info! Thx

Great info. But how would I do this if I'm using a back pack sprayer?
If my doing a new lawn I have one perfect opportunity to make my soil really good at least 6”-8” deep. What should I do?
I always wondered what the liquid aeration products had. Now I know, thanks!

The new formula doesn't need it. Any larger particles will just rest at the bottom too.

So, all the weeds I've been growing in my yard don't make it multi-cultural? :p

Talked about that. 3 bags on the back and two bags on the front. About 10 - 14 lbs per 1000 sq ft.
any weed killer that is granular?
Will the chicken feed attract animals??
You ever thought of adding liquid Molasses to your mix? ?
The bio pack has it.
First!! Delaware love!!!
Can you put to munch chicken feed ? Or throw it down. No consequence at all.
If you brought in truckloads... yes... with a spreader and doing it twice a month... not really.
Recharge!
Turkeys like the chicken feed.
Wish I had them
Something else to use besides chicken feed? It would attract rats in our area.
