    When I use Paul's Choice bha a lot my skin starts to look tired and irritated. Thank you for sharing a clear understanding on acids and potential side effects.

    Also have you tried Caudalie Vinoperfect? I hear it's really good for dark spots and melasma. Better than Vitamin C. I use Dr. Loretta gentle cleanser but think it's too pricey.

    Thank you for all your videos. How do you feel about SkinCeuticals phyto+? I’ve never used that brand but seems like it has a lot of research. I live in LA, do you recommend any Dermatology’s out here? How about Korean spa facials?

      I have used in the past Phlorectin CF, CE Ferulic, and Discoloration Defense to help manage my melasma with good results. I have not used the phyto+ but the SkinCeuticals brand is backed by research and well respected by dermatologists. I lived in LA many years ago, however I do not have recommendations to provide for providers in that area

    Thank you so much I’m using azelaic acid prescription for long time not that improvement Thinking to add other brightener such as alpha arbutin what do you recommend?which one to apply first ?can I use Tranexamic acid too? What do you think about Paula’s choice 2%bha , I know too many questions but really l’m so sad due to my melasma

    • @investinyourface
      @investinyourface  3 года назад

      Hi Rita. In your comment, the things that stand out are that you are sad about your melasma and that you have not seen improvement. I have been there and I encourage you to go to a dermatologist. And if you have and are not happy with his/her recommendation, then find another. With the help of a doctor recommended skincare routine or treatment to give you that jump start to improving the appearance of your melasma, you will then be better able to manage from that point with skincare products such as alpha arbutin and tranexamic acid. The cost of seeing a doctor can be less or a better value, compared to spending money on skincare products that may not be getting you the results you want. I hope this helps.

    hi! thank you so much for this video it’s very informative. i have a few questions i’d like to ask.
    i use panoxyl 4% to cleanse at night, i stopped cleansing in the morning because i noticed doing this cleared my skin.
    in the video you mentioned not to use benzoyl peroxide and mandelic acid together. so would that mean i use the acid in the morning only, or i don’t use them together on the same day. if i can’t use them on the same day, what cleanser would you recommend?
    i am african american, 18yo, i have combination skin and most of my acne is triggered by hormones or sugary foods like gummy candy and soda.
    my skin care routine in the morning is rinse throughly with warm water and use a clean rag to make sure i really get everything out. then i apply the vinchy mineral 89 hyaluronic acid face serum. after applying that i use the cerave moisturizing cream. lastly i apply eucerin daily hydration cream spf 30.
    in the night, i cleanse with panoxyl 4%, then apply the vinchy mineral 89 hyaluronic acid face serum. after that i moisturize with the cerave moisturizing cream, and apply a layer of aquaphor healing ointment.

      i also would like to start incorporating a retinol into my skin care routine. i was working on clearing my acne, then working on clearing the small bumps on my face, dark spots, and my large pores. that’s why i’m now researching what retinol and chemical exfoliations i should incorporate into my skin care routine.
      i would like to try the cerave resurfacing retinol serum. based of what i’ve learned, starting the use of a retinol and a chemical exfoliant at the same time can damage my skin. i’ve been trying to find out what i should start using first and i can’t seem to find a clear answer. is there anyway you could help me out with this as well?💕

      @investinyourface  2 года назад

      Hi Olivia. Mandelic acid has antibacterial properties that can help reduce inflammatory acne. Since your evening cleanser has benzoyl peroxide, it is best to not use mandelic acid on the same evening to avoid the risk of irritation, excessive dryness, and over-exfoliation. If you want to incorporate mandelic acid into your routine, you could use it on alternate evenings, and use a mild gentle cleanser when using the mandelic acid. I highly recommend you talk with a dermatology provider about your acne so that recommendations can be made to address your skin type and type of acne. Gentle exfoliation can be beneficial but is not necessary. Less is more. Both retinol and chemical exfoliant may not be necessary or beneficial.

    Do you wash this product off after applying it? Not sure how to use this

    • @investinyourface
      @investinyourface  2 года назад +1

      Michelle,
      No, it is not washed off. This is a toner so you can apply it as you would any other toner. I either put a few drops into my hands then smooth and gently pat it onto my face, or sometimes I put a few drops onto a makeup pad and smooth it onto the areas of my face, avoiding the eye area. Hope this helps! Thanks

    What cleanser do you suggest to combine on mandelic

    • @investinyourface
      @investinyourface  2 года назад

      I suggest any gentle cleanser that you like. I am currently using Hydrating Facial Cleanser by CeraVe and The Cleanser by Musely. Both are gentle.

    What cleanser do you recommend for melasma?

    • @investinyourface
      @investinyourface  3 года назад +4

      @phiephie In a word, gentle. Find a gentle cleanser that works well for your skin type. I like CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser. If your skin in oily, they have Foaming Facial Cleanser. There are so many great brands, just look for gentle. In the evening I recommend double cleansing, first with an oil based cleanser to remove all sunscreen, any makeup, and things that accumulate throughout a day followed by the gentle water based cleanser. I am particularly fond of the one by DHC, but there are many good ones. There are some mild AHA based cleansers but I prefer to use something like the Wishtrend mandelic acid for it's benefits instead of an AHA cleanser. I hope this helps. Just remember gentle, and one that makes your skin feel cleansed and good after using it.

      Yes, mandelic acid is safe to use during pregnancy. But it is always best to consult with your OB/GYN doctor about any topical skincare products. Great question! Thanks

      @investinyourface  2 года назад +1

      Hi Rita, if you are looking for a gentle exfoliating toner, this one by Wishtrend is a good option. With Melasma, I suggest only 1 time per week, 2 max. I do not experience irritation with mandelic acid, but always patch test any new product.
