Disney was one of the studios that originally turned down Lucas' pitch for Star Wars. 20th Century Fox was the only major studio that saw the potential and decided to take that gamble. Afterwards, Walt Disney Studios became very jealous of Lucas's success. This jealously played through with the way that this latest trilogy turned out, despite the fact that Rogue One and The Mandalorian are fantastic stories and are doing well.

Absolutely phenomenal camera work and acting. The film was strong all the way through! I found this because my fan film was just accepted into the Azure Lorica fan film festival and I was curious about who won last year, and oh my god this is INCREDIBLE. I am genuinely in awe, my jaw was to the floor through pretty much the entire film. The writing and acting was great, so many nice references, the visuals had me SHOOK, especially at the end, and just overall the story was so seamless that it felt more like a full-length movie than a 20 minute short. I will watch again maybe two or three of those new movies again, and thats it.
On the other hand, what they have done (and are still doing!) to old cartoon titles.. I will end here.
Simmilary, remember yourself just how the brand of Heroes of Might and Magic went down and ended up sold almost for free - for mearly over 1 million USD, right after Heroes 3 scored 2nd best selling video game in US, together with worldwide sales reaching 1,5 million copies.. - the fall of heroes makers ended an era in game dev.. Some directions were being drawn by that time 'winners' and today is how it is :)
I must correct you, I'm afraid.

Why is it these fan films have more heart and innovation than anything Hollywood has put out in over a decade??? Also, WHY HASN'T ANYONE SIGNED JAMIE COSTA????
Bc that's exactly what it is man. The ones who make these fan films put the most heart into it without having lunatic execs stop them from making something amazing

i wasn’t paying attention at first and then i started hearing AK-47s and was like “wait.. what? I clicked a star wars video” lol!
No Ak... this is the 40s. Those are mp38 german sub guns. Generic machine guns, a p38 pistol and 2 very vietnam era tanks lol. Can't really wag a finger at the creators though...panzers are hard to come by. ;)
(ANY tank is hard to come by so kudos to them for making it work)

I knew Star Wars was real this whole time!
So did George! 😉
That’s what I said!!
Totally true.
Quick, check our midacolorians! Also no wonder he sucks at writing... the story he originally told was true, and the rest he tried making up himself.

Please please make more!!!!!
Here I was thinking that Costa was playing Indy, but instead he was playing an Indy-like figure to inspire his son George Lucas. What a wonderful twist! This was everything I wanted. Absolutely phenomenal camera work and acting. The film was strong all the way through! From the excited opening sequence, the intense and gloriously well filmed jeep chase, the approach of the Nazi army, and the final moments as the ISD raises from the sand... this film is truly a work of art. Well done Phil Hawkins. I can't wait to see what else you have in store and I hope your name makes it into the credits of a Hollywood film some day.
May the Force be with you,
Ethan

@@TerraStone I wouldn't mind a part 2 at all actually.
Very very well done. Im excited to see what brilliant things you come up with in the future!
Congrats on being accepted! It’s a great festival! Appreciate your kind words about the film and look forward to seeing yours! 👍
@@StarWarsOriginsFilm Ahh thank you so much! That means the world, very much appreciate you responding and I'm very excited for it :)

Indiana Jones meets Star Wars. Didn't expect that at all. Well Done!
Indiana Jones meets Star Wars…..while dating Tomb Raider! So good!
Lol really eh
Lol my thoughts exactly. Both films were started by George Lucas
"The Raiders of the Last Star Wars" .........i still like it
And Stargate
I love how in the begining, the writing on the diary mimics the typical scrolling text! Brilliant!

That was SO good. Absolutely spectacular. Well done to everyone involved.
Wherever there is undying love, respect, and reverence for the genius known as George Lucas...I will be there. Incredible job with this film. Thank you for making it.

That was effing AMAZING!! You guys did a fantastic job! I will gat as many people to watch this as I possibly can! You folk deserve as much visibility as possible!!

I love how they mix different movie elements with today’s disclosure narrative. Excellent!
Wow amazing short. Fits so easily into starwars lore. Deserves a movie of its own.
The acting in this is absolutely phenomenal. I’m pretty blown away, felt like Hollywood talent.
This is the most respect that we’ve seen to Star Wars in a while.
I guess this all that’s left to talk about, George Lucas is actually telling the truth... brilliant
Wow! What an incredible short film. Great acting, great camera work, great CGI and visuals, great editing. This was an all around very professionally made film. This film and team deserves so much attention and praise for this gem that they’ve created here. Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau need to see this for sure. Thank you for this, it was amazing.
You’re welcome! Thanks for the lovely words. MTFBWY!
"Let's name him George" was such a perfect touch. More respect for both his franchises than all the shows and films Disney has made since they bought it and began trying their hardest to tarnish his Legacy.
I really hope George has seen this...
Where do I start??! This is incredible! A simple idea executed beautifully. Thank you on behalf of the Star Wars community.
George! That was genius! Loved the film, the references, the influences, the acting, directing, cinematography, writing, amazing!!!

I kid you not, I got goosebumps at the "Lets name him George" part
For the all too briefest of moments, in my minds eye, it was 1977 and I was 10 sitting in a cinema again, waiting for the beginning of a wonderful cinematic saga, thank you for bringing that time back to me.
This is so wonderful! My favourite comment so far.
I felt the same magic and awe as well. It reminded me of walking out of the theater in 1977 and saying to my siblings, “Wow. What if something like that really did happen a long time ago in a galaxy far far away? Congrats for making this film, Mr. Hawkins. You are a Star Wars fan. I think George Lucas would be proud.
WOW!! Great job! That was a fun distraction. Awesome job dudes and dudettes
This truly was a brilliant idea and extremely well done. Won't be a sequel or a prequel, we got everything we needed in 20 minutes. If only crews like the one involved in making this could be doing some Star Wars content with a Hollywood budget for the big screen, how amazing would that be?!?
It would be amazing.... ;)
This is incredible - as far as I'm concerned, this is canon for both the Star Wars universe and our own. Thank you for sharing this masterpiece of a story with us.
We invent the canon... ;) Thank you.
this is impossible to be canon, it contradicts canon on multiple levels..
even the title itself contradicts established canon
