      @@thestlein I recommend 3M Super 77 spray adhesive to put the suede on. And for this application I didn’t use suede that stretched and it made the job really difficult. Every suede job I’ve done since I’ve made sure to use a suede material that stretches a little and it makes the job 10 times easier.

    So I assume you professionally installed the velour over the old dashboard then reattached it? I have a beautiful low mileage all white Fleetwood brougham 96 model that has two small cracks in the dash by the air bag. I want it done professionally. How? I need a shop that specializes in velour, leather restoration.

    • @WorkingWithWimberley
      @WorkingWithWimberley  11 месяцев назад +1

      I covered mine with a stretch suede material. I just used spray adhesive. But any competent shop should be able to recover the dash. Especially if it’s removed from the car first. There are a ton of low rider Fleetwoods that have the dash customized whether it’s covered with suede, leather, or bodyworked and painted.

      ThatVenomousCat96 Thanks for watching & be sure to subscribe! I absolutely think this is possible to do in a Roadmaster. The assembly may not be exactly like the Fleetwood, but it should be close. My original plan was to sand down the humps and fill the cracks with body filler. I ended up finding a nice dash pad in a Fleetwood at the junkyard, so I just covered that one instead of repairing my original one. But I originally planned on repairing the cracked dash and recovering it. It will be some work, but you can definitely do it!

      @@WorkingWithWimberley A big thank you for the links. Have you used the stuff for other car projects? I'm wondering how fade-resistant it is.
      My FWB has a charcoal grey metallic exterior with a 2 tone grey interior, primarily light grey with parts like the dash pad a darker grey. I was considering recovering my pillars with something fleece-like since the factory cloth looks very much like light grey fleece, but the suede fabric looks MUCH better in your car. @@mpikas No problem! Yes, I’ve used it before and I haven’t noticed any fading. I’m actually doing suede in my CTS right now. ruclips.net/video/a3zmdE8DJHY/видео.html Also, I switched to 3M Super 77 adhesive because it’s easier to work with and is tacky immediately. I haven’t had any issues, but I’m sure if you search the internet there’s probably something even better you could use.

    • @mpikas
      @mpikas Год назад

      @@WorkingWithWimberley Honestly, even 3 years and still looking good is a good deal, I've seen some fabric fade appreciably in a few months, and colors like blue tend to be the worst. If the grey is a nic e grey I'll probably try it.
      Super 77 is my go-to for this kind of stuff. There are a few others, the 99 is stronger but also more likely to soak through, and you don't really need it for this kind of thing.
      I was wondering if you had video of doing it because mine doesn't look as flat as yours, and I suspect that I'm at a minimum going to need to do some sanding, filling, and maybe a 1/8 or 1/4" thick layer of foam.

    • @WorkingWithWimberley

      Bingo! Got it. There were only 2 screws. I gently pryed the front where the #10mm bolts were, it released. I also noticed slight differences between my 94 FW dashboard top and the 93 FW dashboard replacement from the JY. On the side defrost vents, by the driver and passenger front window the 94 has a small grill whereas the 93 has rows of perforated holes. • @WorkingWithWimberley
      @WorkingWithWimberley  Год назад +1

      @@raulpiscoya2929 No I didn’t . The splines on the wheel matched the ones on the steering column. It bolted right up. The only minor mod I made was to the airbag connector because it was different. But it’s only a two wire connector and the wires were the same color too. So it was easy.

    • @WorkingWithWimberley
      @WorkingWithWimberley  5 лет назад

      Overdose480 Thanks for watching & be sure to subscribe! I appreciate the compliment! I got the replacement from a local junkyard. I found a Fleetwood with a good dash and pulled it out. Then I covered it in blue suede. These cars are becoming harder to find and they don’t make many of the parts anymore. I’m waiting to come across another at the junkyard to grab a few more parts that I need. That seems to be the best way to get certain parts for it now.

    This is perfect man. Awesome. I just picked up a '94 Fleetwood in triple with a cracked dash. Dope the Caprice fits. Find a nice one,prep it,SEM Landau Black and I'll be good to go.

    • @WorkingWithWimberley
      @WorkingWithWimberley  4 года назад +1

      I don’t think the dash pad from a Caprice will fit a Fleetwood. The reason I mention the Roadmaster and Caprice in the title is because since they’re basically the same car, the removal process should be similar. But I don’t think they use the same dash pad.
