It would be a shame if this is the last video you make. You nailed it from content to presentation. Great humour and effective quirkiness that kept my interest and attention.
Dude you gotta make more videos! Very informative and entertaining. Your honesty (maybe coming from the alcohol) and humor kept me watching lol. Keep ‘‘em coming!
I honestly think how much you like/dislike the Rise 4 (or any back buttons really) depends entirely on how you tend to grip the controller. I grip the controller in a semi-claw fashion, with my index fingers over the bumpers and my middle fingers over the triggers, pretty much leaving only my ring fingers for back buttons. The Rise 4 (and the 2) is the ONLY back button option that works for me. I have no issues with accidental presses, but it could because I don't play with enough fingers on the back of the controller for it to be an issue. 😅
He hears us asking and makes us wait till the beer is sipped this is a good ass review and I want to see all of my tech reviews in this format from this point forward someone get this man a contract with linus tech tips god damn :)
I’ve heard the metal paddles aren’t as sensitive as to the plastic ones. Unfortunately for me I need the 4 buttons like you say. This video was actually great man and it cleared a lot of my questions I had about this rise 4 kit! So many thanks my brother! Also you made me want a beer and it’s only 7am… 😁😁
I logged into this account again because I'm stewing on some ideas and this comment could not have been more pleasant to the motivation glands in my brain. I don't really know metrics of others' first uploads (and I keep in mind that this is a popular product in its niche, so that helps a lot), but I am grateful for all the views and comments. Even the ones that don't really make sense
Yo you should do an update. I love your no bs and funny commentary, but just wonder if you still use it or if you found another solution? Also extreme rate came out with a rise4 updated version so maybe itll be better? I just bought one 2 days ago ill have to let you know if i remember to come back here lol
Actually the controller it was installed on started having issues (unresponsive R1) and I tried fixing it to no avail. Ended up picking up a Dualsense Edge, which is fantastic (albeit limited to 2 buttons) but the build quality, features, and swappable sticks make up for it if you can swallow the steep price I haven't looked into the new Rise4, feel free to share your thoughts!
Man I figured it would be metal and was disappointed to find it was plastic. I thought the metal was to replace the flimsy plastic which was prone to breaking or something, but I guess not lol
I haven't bothered with the Rise 4 kit as I find it "practical enough" to only have 2 back controls/inputs without starting to become confusing, unwieldy, but I did gotten the metal one and for what I can tell, I have nothing to regret missing those 2 extra buttons. My whole "paddles on the back thing" only started from the hate of the L3/R3 (or LS/RS.. ) as I've found them to be the most unreliable, stupid and useless design in a controller.. (also greatly helping your analog stick wear down and getting the dreaded stick drift.. ) I found those to be 2 inputs that were physically there on the controller but having no sane, practical use other than fucking up your sticks in no time and making you cringe every time you'd have to hold them pressed while also having to use/tilt the sticks.. (basically, 2 mutually exclusive controls that you could "force to use" together, but of course at the expense of wear and tear and fucking cringe) With that being the case, L3 and R3 are only 2 controls that can also be remapped and fucking be placed in a useful place.. Hurray! 2 birds, one stone!.. As far as accidental clicking the paddles on the rise kit, (and simply for comfort/ergonomics considerations.. ) I've had to tape some padding, especially on the back of the grips of the controller in order to have the buttons flush/level with the grip, thus not having to keep my paddles fingers raised up while in a resting grip. That had helped me immensely in actual gameplay.
I guess how many paddles you need, and what quality you want can be a matter of personal taste. I personally have never really had any issues with using stick clicks, since I tend to immediately remap buttons in most games such that I can put functions on the sticks that don't also require precise aiming, while benefitting from being possible to do at the same time as I am running/ aiming (since my hands are on the sticks 90% of the time, it also allows me to react faster). Personally, I have found jumping, dodging, toggling running or crouching, and using healing items/consumables to be quite convenient to have on the sticks in most games. But of course I agree having a dedicated paddle for that is much better than using stick clicks that potentially mess with your aim while degrading your sticks faster. I mostly just want to have the ability to perform more actions without taking my hands off the sticks, so for me more paddles = better, but paddle quality is not so important. Seems like for you however, you specifically want to replace low quality/ difficult/ inconvenient stick clicks with an easier to perform, higher quality paddle click, for which more paddles ≠ better, but paddle quality can be much more important.
I love this thing, the buttons are very clicky if you tighten it well, if not they won't be. Also, all 4 buttons are easy to press and has been working like a dream for me. I'd give it a 10/10 would recommend if you need paddles but don't want to spend hundreds of bones.
Scuf reflex is pretty good so far I have no issues with it and the back buttons have good tension while still not putting too much stress on your hands 👌 also the extremerate metal rise kit is probably the next best option for what ur looking for.
well the Reflex is my only other option it seems for 4 buttons it seems, along with a couple other incredibly pricey modded dualsenses. i'm sure i'll cough up the cash sooner or later ugh
@@kurama4977 they’re still not durable, I’ve read many posts here and on Reddit of the ps5 controller having issues less than a month after purchase. Which has been the case for a long time with scuff controllers
@@Hijynx87Most people with controller problems don’t store it properly and don’t wash their hands before using it. I’ve still had no issues with the Reflex so it was worth it for me, but at this point I’d definitely rather go for the Dualsense edge preorder. $199 releasing Jan 26 and a ton of more features!
I have this kit for my PS5 controller and the dealbreaker for me is how annoying the square back part feels hanging off the back of the controller,... Its quite large and it gets in the way of how I want to optimally grip the controller and situate my fingers on the back - its super clunky. If they could figure out a way to engineer this kit in a way that makes the big square smaller then I'd find it usable. The super mushy feeling paddles that are extremely easy to accidentally press also don't help its cause.
You keep saying there are no other options which is false. There are the TOMSIN Back Button Attachment Remap kit. And custom controllers which if you want just only 2 back buttons you will have to shell out about $200 for.
My buttons are the exact opposite: The left curved button doesn’t click and both curved back buttons need me to squeeze my entire controller to get a response. I can’t tap, period. I have to hard hard press
Just bought this kit on Amazon and I now have a couple of concerns. The PS5 controller I currently have came with the PS5 from pre order. I thought I heard something about being able to see if it's bdm 1 or 2 by the back, without opening it, dependent on what the model code says but it's not similar to other controllers from vids I've seen. Am I going to need a newer controller? Also do you have to cut off the bdm 1 or 2 that comes with the kit, or can you just use the one you need so if you replace the controller you don't have to buy a new kit if it's not the same bdm? Finally will this kit become unusable if a new controller type comes out as replacement (like bdm 3)? I've never bought or installed a kit like this before so please excuse any ignorance I may have on the topic. Any answers to alleviate my concerns would be greatly appreciated.
Bro I just built a 4 button ps5 controller through battle beaver for 221 total lol, that’s super customized too, use code Mutex for 10% off, it’s less if you don’t customize as much

You can put the metal paddles into the 4 button kit and still come out way cheaper than a pro controller.
