@Painless360 OMG thank you sir. Been trying to work through this with several year old Blue Falcon (god rest his soul) very good videos and suspected something like this was going on, but had no clue, but was quickly catching on. But you nailed it. If you don't mind I will pass this on too a few flustered folks I have run into (I hope you don't get too pestered, I will remind them of that). This is not an easy thing to get into, and FRsky has not only made it more difficult, I'm sure they will chase away many from this sport.
YESSS! I was looking for a way to get more ppm channels out of my *flight controller*. But it just controls flight! No need! This is BRILLIANT!! Now I've got gps / stable flight on a fixed wing AND head tracking gimbals on fpv! EXACTLY what I needed and wasn't even looking. Thanx so much! So glad I follow and watch every tip!
Well thanks to your video, I am running jumper r8 on mode 4 (similair to mode 4 of frsky x8r) and it works like a charm, don't know why it's not mentioned in official manual......1-8 Channels on sbus and 9-16 channels (ch9 = ch1 on receiver) on pwm. I am operating two basic tower pro SG90 sevos on channels 9 and 10 (pwm). Although it's working fine means having no issues at least for now, do I need to supply external power to servos ?
I've been using this receiver in an FPV plane with vector system. It works very well. Vector only uses 4 control surface channels plus a mode channel, so my pan/tilt servos are plugged into the 7th and 8th channels of the receiver. My dilemma now Is that I wonder if I could use an XR4 with sbus on one channel plus the pan/tilt on channels 3+4 with some remapping of channels for the throttle/rudder on the frsky to say channels 9-10? Just thinking out loud...
Binding with this method; I can't find any information on pinot. e.g. we have the straight forward sbus connection , I assume 1 through 8 on the receiver would be PWM 9 through 16. Hope I'm being clear enough.
X8R receivers have CH1-8 for PWM and a separate SBUS output. You can set them up so that two of them can be used for up to 16 PWM devices over two receivers.. Best of luck!
Great informative video. 👍 I would like to have seen a slide showing how or where you would connected more than 8 items to those channels. Typically most lights, rc switches and servos etc have the three wires, sig + - so it can be confusing knowing it can be done but how.
hi Painless360 ! i trying to compile rx x8r with Matek F405 wing to make it can claim long range ! but how far can it fly and should i need module for that ? !
When binding two receivers; for example, the rx8r and x8r, I suppose I should still use the two jumpers (pins1+2 &3+4) for binding on each receiver, but can I also choose to bind one as no telemetry & channels 9-16 and the other as telemetry & channels 1-8? What if binding both to use ch 9-16 as pwm's, then should I use a "Y" connector to connect the receivers to servo?
Hi Lee, Hope you can help here. Just got a new Taranis X9D and an X8R receiver (didnt like the size of the hourus) anyway, ive been trying to connect my Tarot 280 via the Sbus port without success. Ive tried eu and non-eu firmware, no luck. I have whecked that it is working as I had a spare servo in my aduino kit. Any suggestions? or can you tell me where I can get a dsmx mudule from asap as im keen to take this new quad out for a spin.just for info, Ive tried the sbus on an Omnibus F3 AIO and an Omnibus F4 V3
Painless360 just sent you some photos on twitter, solid green light on X8R. Was bound through inav as said, the servo works fine but nothing moves on the transmitter tab in inav, Cleanflight or Betaflight
I know this is old... but I"m having an issue with my Turnigy 9XR Pro Binding to a new X8R using an XJT Module... I"m getting a solid red and green light on the X8r and I can't get everything to bind... I need this explained to me like I"m a five year old... I'm just going to be using eleven mixing in an EDF... the two switches on the module are down (D16 mode)
What FrSky mode to I need to select on my RadiomasterTx16s to bind my original V8FR receiver, not the version ii.? Is it actually possible to bind this receiver as I have 4 new unused ones?
Sir can you please advise me on my problem... my S8R receiver is showing solid green light but not showing its connected to the transmitter. I've tried all three of mine and they all do the same.. what's my problem?
hi hope you can help me tried to update my firmware and it now says when i go to creat a new modelsd card warning exe version 23v0029,then it says press button to continue, then i goto creat new model then it says script syntax error?
See my videos on updating. I have one on that specific error too. ruclips.net/video/P4soR6QgOk0/видео.html - that should help you find those videos of mine and help you find the answers you need quickly
I am new to the X8R receiver and can't seem to find any info about antenna orientation is it the same as a spectrum satellite ie. at 90 degrees or should they be oriented parallel?
Help! My X9D Plus has been bound to me X8R for a few years, but I have recently tried to bind to an S6R as well. I have updated all firmware on receivers and X9D but now the X8R won't bind and just shows solid green and red LED. The S6R shows a solid green when binding... what have I done wrong???
That probably will not make any difference. I've had a rare 'dud' reciever here that performs like that. Just ensure that antennas are not damaged and routed correctly... best of luck

Hi Painless, I'm having trouble binding V8FR to my QX7. in the setup page From what I can make out I need to switch the internal RF mode to D8. I have D16 LR12 and off but no D8. Have I missed some thing ?
This is because the radio was flashed with the EU option selected. If you deselect the tick on that box when you flash the firmware to the radio then your find D8 appears again. Best of luck!
My X8R seems to be stuck in trying to bind more(green solid, red flashing). I took it to the field and my rssi dropped to zero and it’s acting like it’s trying to bind but it won’t. Any ideas are appreciated.

The receiver is EU LBT version and the Qx7 also i guess.
Try updating the firmware on both the transmitter and the receivers, and make sure everything is in the same regulatory area (EU/US(FCC))
