I found out the secret to binding Frsky receivers last year. Wanna hear it? I rounded up all my Frsky receivers and bound them up in a paper bag then threw them all in the trash bin. Then, I put in TBS crossfire receivers all around. I now have a daily driver of RM Tx16s with a TBS module in the J R bay.
Sadly I suspect that the way Frsky has managed this has pushed a lot of their customers to a similar point. If they just listened to what customers want then RadioMaster, Jumper and others wouldn't have a market.. Such a shame... Happy flying
Done the same but kept mine now I am flashing to express lrs crossfire was a game changer for me so easy to use I don’t know why I have the Rssi in the osd not needed really

FINALLY!! I understand! Thank you! I'm so not happy with FrSky right now. They should have done as you said, 1. Made their radios backward compatible to D8 and 2. Autosense what protocol the receiver has. They so screwed their loyal customers.
I bought in to FrSky several years ago with a Taranis X9D ACCST and a year later with an X-Lite ACCST. Although they run the latest Open-Tx I haven't flashed the radios since I set them up and I still have about a dozen ACCST Rxs from r-XSRs to Varios, (even that stupid self-levelling Rx they sold). Looking through the comments noticed some guys have reply a week before the video aired. 🤔 Nice explanation i have used Frsky from the start after i modded a Futaba Challenger with one of their internal Tx module when the cost of Futaba receivers got too high and was not cost effective to buy receivers for my Futaba FF7 (T7c).
Hello Lee, I just upgraded my X9 Lite to a TX16S, I have/had an R9M Lite Pro module and some receivers for a couple of quads and had hoped I would be able to 3d Print a cover and manually wire the smaller module bay to fit with the slim module. So what I am wondering is if there is any way to modify the bin firmware build to have it appear for the TX16S. Hello - I'm just starting out and have an AR Wing on order. This video was spot on! I've been pulling my hair out trying to get my new X7 (ACCESS) bound to an Archer M+. Finally got the right firmware for the trans, receiver and internal module. Why they don't do this at the factory is beyond me. Quick question - I watched one of your videos that included a segment on Calibration and Leveling. You walked thru the steps and mentioned the params that have to be manually tweaked in the Arduplane parameter list. You had a model propped up with the right Angle of Attack and set a manual Param by specific degrees. I have looked and looked but cannot find that segment again! My F405 Wing thinks that "level" is sitting in the tail dragger position on the ground. Can you recall the video this was covered in?
There are only three series on ArduPlane - one with the Omnibus, One with a Matek F405 and one with the PixHawk Cube. You can find them a lot easier by using the playlists. With such a huge number of videos the playlists can often be a good way to find something again.
No idea, I've never used one. Looking at the manual there is talk of a protocol I've never seen on a Taranis radio so you possibly need an external module in the bay to connect to it. Best of luck.
Hi Lee, I've been trying to bind two R8 pro receivers in series to give me 16 channels but all a can manage is getting two cloned 8 channel receivers. After hours of fruitless searching of the internet I've come up with nothing! I wonder if you have any tips on the subject that may help me out. Thanks.
@@Painless360 thanks Lee, we've resorted to a couple of sbus 16 channel break out boards which are probably better for our purposes. We've about 34 servos running off 3 radios.
I walked up a mountain yesterday to a good spot only to find my quad wasn’t bound to transmitter, couldn’t access bind button. My fault as I’d been messing about with tx firmware a few months ago. I have a uk65 which is international only. I have since bought crossfire and will never use frsky again, I’ve had so much trouble over the years even when the firmware matched 🙄
I've done that too. Most of the pilots I know have too.. I now test things before I load up the car. It always seems to be the model with the RX hidden away that has the issue isn't it! :D
Im currently building 2.4ghz express LRS modules. I have a couple of atto receivers to flash also. Even the flashing and binding of these is easier than FrSky sometimes. Once initially flashed it can be done in future via WiFi for tx and FC pass through for rx. Binding is also auto with you setting a bind phrase.
You have made a good video on the mess that frsky got them self into. I have had frsky from 2012. I have 2 frsky radios and one radio with a hack transmitter module. I have now got a radiomaster tx16s best radio I have ever had. Can the tx16s bind to the archer receivers ACCSS?
Thank you so much for your videos. Thousands depend on them . I am certainly one of them . I just got a 2019 Taranis ACCESS and with it came a X8R receiver WITHOUT a bind button. The supplied instructions are wrong. There is no information out there on how to bind .Can you save my life. Please help.
I've never seen an X8R without a button. What does it say in the online manual for it? Did the person you bought it from provide 1st line support? Is it genuine?
@@Painless360 so I'm not sure why but when I try to bind it just goes straight to solid red and green and doesn't flash, Even if I don't have the radio on. And I know you said before that if it goes red and green solid then it could be a firmware thing so I updated the firmware on it and made sure it was non eu like my controller. I'm just not sure what to do lol
This is exactly what happened to me, I can no longer understand what firmware I have on the receivers (X series) that I used with a Taranis X9D plus and on the “new” radio (x12s) that has an ISRM module and a multiprotocol module… I am very confused and continue to fly with the old Taranis…
If the receiver is using ACCST then it'll be one of 4 flavours. V1 (in either LBT or ECC firmware), or V2 (with the same two flavours). Luckily, multiprotocol modules support all of them so try them one my one and you'll find the one that works! LBT receivers (made for use in the EU) will normally have a sticker on them with LBT printed on it, so that halves the choices.. Best of luck!
@@Painless360 Thanks for quick feedback! I assume that on my receivers is present the fw 1.5.something LBT, and also on my taranis. the things is: what is presesent on internal ISRM module of my x12s? i will try to bind the receivers with the external module... yes as you say FrSky lost the ball with all this changes...
Today, you can use a multi-module in most Tx with a Jr style slot in the back, or the ability to output PPM, even very old Tx from the 70's have been converted. No problems. With the new Rx software from Mike blandford, you get greatly increased performance and reliability.
Great video, thanks for taking the time to produce it. In the video you mentioned the move to V2.x.x (ACCST) which caused a lot if binding issues because it was incompatible with any of the previous firmware versions of ACCST but you also said that that issue has been fixed. Well I missed that memo, can you point me to some source that explains what has been done to fix the problem? Thanks!
Thanks so much for this so good video. I am new in this hobby but still can not understand why the companies do not make it more easy. Why not the multi protocol radios recognize automatically the receiver and bind or make it more easy like TBS and all is perfect with the hobbyist .
Thanks for the explanation, I bought a new RX6R receiver that came loaded with V2. With guidance from your videos I found the V1 firmware on the FrSky website and backdated it and now have it bound to my 2 year old transmitter. What about software updates? Is it safe and recommended to update the Tx software? I’m hesitant to touch it now 🤔
Fantastic video, Lee! Thanks a lot! 😃 Yeah, it's too much complicated for me as well. I still got my X9D, but... I'm not really happy with it. 😕 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
yes i cant bind my taranis q x7 access with x6r accst. taranis has accst d16, why this dont work, i test everything, i dont have USB programator for receiver, how much things do i need to bind one transmiter with receiver from same company XDD
Thanks for this! Spent a whole weekend trying to get an MX+ from banggood to bind with my QX7 - had to get older receiver firmware from a guy on a facebook group to get it working :/ I can see the appeal of the multi-protocol modules now.
Check out all of my recent videos about this - they have the link to the firmwares that FrSky kindly no longer list to support pilots. I hope that helps others..
Thanks for the video. I have a Taranis X9D+ and RM TX16. After using the TX16 for about 9 months, I am converted and most of my planes are using this radio. Mt last time that I use the Taranis must be last summer. Sad really as the Taranis is a solid radio but not versatile at all
Thanks fot this I have typed 1000's words on forums trying to help people bind frsky rx to tx. Maybe should have made the video myself would have saved me time trying to explain it all. Another thing is that Open TX version is nothing to do really with transmission protocol ( apart from not ticking EU to enable D8) people are still confused about that. I agree that they destroyed their own market with all this - and something they could have fixed themselves. They could get into the multiprotocol market at a slightly higher price point as their quality is better than radiomaster. They had to open up v2.1 as it was really developed outside frsky as they screwed up a number of attempts to get round the mysteries glitch - which I have never seen. Any a very useful video thaf should be referenced in every forum covering ACCST protocols. Thank.
Great video. My FrSky (QX7) radio is still working, until it stops functioning, I'm ok with it. It's a nice radio. I'm building a new quad, questioning what to put in it. If I have trouble with the R-XSR. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. To be honest. We'll see.
For those of us that Don't Live in Europe,, It is Not an Issue. Also Plug in a Multi Module and the QX7, ((ACCST or ACCESS) as there is Only 2 protocols..),, Will bind to More than a Jumper Multi can,, And for Value,, it is Still the Best Transmitter on the market.!! But If My Taranis ever dies,, I will Purchase a RadioMaster, (Only if they make me a Thumb wheel instead of the Scroll wheel)!!
@@Painless360 I use the FRSky OS and every plane has a FRSky receiver, and unfortunately I updated the radio, so every receiver had to be updated. Frsky was just to much hard work , but , I would always bind the reciever before I would install it into a kwad , made it so much easier . Thankfully , No more Frsky for me , Crossfire on a Radiomaster TS16 . Less Lag , better range , auto bind and reciever updates over the radio . Frsky could take a lesson .
Until the end of 2020 I've been thinking that FrSky will end up selling just their receivers, but then radiomaster released R161 and R168 receivers :D There is not much left for them anymore. At this moment IMHO for longer distances TBS is the way, for LOS flights Radiomaster receivers because of value/£ $ €
I bought the Taranis X9D Plus 2019 se access and access receivers, I thought all my issues would be solved by investing in the latest Frsky gear. Well my Taranis won’t bind to my access, it won’t even register, I updated the firmware which was a mission. I am fed up. The new radio has rssi issues an weak signal issues with my x8r receivers. All we want is to buy a radio, bind to a receiver and fly, no need for firmware and other upgrades, just work out of the box. I am thinking of giving up the hobby because of this nonsense. I am not sure if Radiomaster will need all these firmware upgrades to work on my old receivers.
I still have a red frsky long range ta never bound . I fly in neighborhoods overpeople and traffic in controlled airspace near a comercial airpirt and several helpads .with too much power So it is fly , Disappear ., fly again. The stuff is all new still
FrSky is digging their own grave with this crap. It's a shame, but they get no sympathy from me with their complete disregard for their customers and their bullying tactics with vendors. FU Frsky
I wonder how many people at Frsky grasp just how badly the company screwed up? Virtually EVERYONE in this hobby was using their product... and then Frsky went to great trouble and expense to achieve... what? Pissing everyone off and squandering all the good faith of their customers. This is why I believe that success in business is not an indicator of genius. Mostly just a lucky happenstance, and the unappreciated toiling of some low level employees. 🤨
I think they are drinking nothing but their own cool-aid at this point. If they just listened to what customers want and stuck to the open nature of their original products then they would still be the darlings of the hobby and the default choice. Such a shame... Happy flying

No, see my videos on it.. Best of luck
Is it genuine?
hi lee i got archer r8 pro and i sucseed to bind to my tranisq x7 but didnt understand how to connect this reciver to my pixhwak .. thanks alot
Check out my Pixhawk videos. Connect the SBUS OUT on the receiver to the RC IN on the Pixhawk. Best of luck
@@Painless360 it didn’t work maybe it
something at the full parameter list??
Thanks🙏🏻
Sbus inputs are configured by default. Check out those Pixhawk series.... Best of luck
Got a Radiomaster TX16 never looked back. I still have my Qx7s radio bound to one 5inch quad 🤣
I need your help! I still can't get mine to bind and I have tried everything and even got a new x8r
What troubleshooting have you already done?
@@Painless360 so I'm not sure why but when I try to bind it just goes straight to solid red and green and doesn't flash, Even if I don't have the radio on. And I know you said before that if it goes red and green solid then it could be a firmware thing so I updated the firmware on it and made sure it was non eu like my controller. I'm just not sure what to do lol
@@Painless360 if you have any clue what I should do I would appreciate it.
This may help ruclips.net/video/ULAic-lJOmU/видео.html
Today, you can use a multi-module in most Tx with a Jr style slot in the back, or the ability to output PPM, even very old Tx from the 70's have been converted. No problems. With the new Rx software from Mike blandford, you get greatly increased performance and reliability.
Thank you for the comment. Interesting that Frsky weren't the ones to fix it, isn't it... Happy flying
Boy I needed this video!
Hmmm , so I barely get to use my x9d and it’s obsolete.???
Not at all!
Thanks!
I have a video on that. V1 won't talk to V2 and vice versa. Still the same. Unless you use an MPM ;)
Happy flying
Thanks so much for this so good video. I am new in this hobby but still can not understand why the companies do not make it more easy. Why not the multi protocol radios recognize automatically the receiver and bind or make it more easy like TBS and all is perfect with the hobbyist .
Thanks for the explanation, I bought a new RX6R receiver that came loaded with V2. With guidance from your videos I found the V1 firmware on the FrSky website and backdated it and now have it bound to my 2 year old transmitter. What about software updates? Is it safe and recommended to update the Tx software? I’m hesitant to touch it now 🤔
ruclips.net/video/2QbXrTMrk6wi/видео.htmls worth a watch. I've never updated the XJT firmware, just OpenTX and it works fine..
I dont know how but i menge to bind my old JUMPER T8SG PLUS with RXSR d16 reciver LBT USING FrSkyX protocol,i just opened all 16 chanels ant hit bind
Very informative, thank you ✌️
I kept my XD9 plus radio for simulator only , no more Frsky . Thumbs up Radio master , Jumper & TBS crossfire.
Fantastic video, Lee! Thanks a lot! 😃
Yeah, it's too much complicated for me as well. I still got my X9D, but... I'm not really happy with it. 😕
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
@@M-H433 It's ACCST and I won't be updating to ACCST 2... So it's starting to be difficult to get receivers.
yes i cant bind my taranis q x7 access with x6r accst.
taranis has accst d16, why this dont work, i test everything, i dont have USB programator for receiver, how much things do i need to bind one transmiter with receiver from same company XDD
You don't need a usb programmer. You can flash the reciever using the pins in the back of the radio... Best of luck
Radiomaster T16S and crossfire, no issues.
Yep, me too! :D
I third that.👍
Once i noticed Rxsr used d16 or d8 and not frskyRX
Simply put thank you.
We'll see.
Rxsr uses frsky d16 not frsky rx protocol . Mine works now
And just to add another flavour there was EU before EU LBT and EU doesn't talk to EU LBT as having an early EU Taranis I'm learning all about it.
Great explanation, such a shame FRSky did all this. Maybe they have a radio and new OS in the pipeline 😉
Indeed. Another closed system that moves away from the reason we all invested in their products perhaps?
@@Painless360 I use the FRSky OS and every plane has a FRSky receiver, and unfortunately I updated the radio, so every receiver had to be updated. So I hope they do something and free the restrictions. Spectrum are so doing so many great things, make me think, maybe I should bite the bullet of cost and start again 🤷🏻♂️
@@DadsRCHangar me too. So many wrong things I bought. Collect old 27 72 mHz stick and car. Did tenth on road 10 years
Frsky was just to much hard work , but , I would always bind the reciever before I would install it into a kwad , made it so much easier . Thankfully , No more Frsky for me , Crossfire on a Radiomaster TS16 . Less Lag , better range , auto bind and reciever updates over the radio . Frsky could take a lesson .
Until the end of 2020 I've been thinking that FrSky will end up selling just their receivers, but then radiomaster released R161 and R168 receivers :D
There is not much left for them anymore.
Don't give up
See my kit picks video from August last year for what I use.. Best of luck
No matter how many "Flavors" you mentioned...... I'm traditional and I stick with🍓 Strawberry🍦, 🥥 Vanilla🍧 and a bit of🥜 chocolate🍨 icecream... 🤣😁😉😋👍
Or neopolitan if you want all three? 🍦
@@Painless360... So.... Neopolitan It is.... 😁😉🍦👍.
Love your videos..... Thanks for your work and dedication.
I still have a red frsky long range ta never bound . I fly in neighborhoods overpeople and traffic in controlled airspace near a comercial airpirt and several helpads .with too much power So it is fly , Disappear ., fly again. The stuff is all new still
the long and the short of it ...E,U, Screwed us again
Nope. FrSky messed up by not giving you the choice on a per model basis. If Jumper/Radiomaster can do so could FrSky, but they choose not to
sweet video. .. wonder why they are trying to kill their company .. I got the radio master tx16 job done .. RSXR receivers
FrSky is digging their own grave with this crap. It's a shame, but they get no sympathy from me with their complete disregard for their customers and their bullying tactics with vendors. FU Frsky
They stole the tech from futaba didn't they. F them
Anatomy of bad business model.
Surely Fr Sky are dying a slow death...
Why is ACCST pronounced as A, double C, S, T and not A, C, C, S, T? That would be so much easier to listen to. (for a simple Dutchman like myself :))
You can pronounce it anyway you like! 😁Happy flying!
Futaba old hardware
Frsky is dead to me.
Cuz....u shoulda bought crossfire lol
Frisky have spent the last 2 years acting like a moody kid.
