- Arjen Lucassen announces the seventh and final singer on the new Ayreon album, The Theory of Everything. Finally... it's the amazing Tommy Karevik of Kamelot and Seventh Wonder in the lead role!
I have to say it... when i heard about Kamelot's singer being in Ayreon i was amazed but saddly i didn't knew about the roy's department... kinda disappointed but then i heard this little piece from the first disc with Tommy's voice (inertia, is less than 2 minutes piece) and i was amazed, this guy has some real talent, im glad his voice is in this disc.
Now you know who put the Wonder in "Seventh Wonder" . . .
you always have the best comments girl
Arjen, echt fan! tas! TISCH! dat je Tommy wist te strikken voor je volgende project. Ik kijk ontzettend uit naar je The Theory of Everything!
To all who compare him to Roy: listen to Seventh Wonder - Mercy Falls album. Absolutely different side of greatness
It varies. In the earlier albums, his high register was much more prevalent. As the band grew, he developed more of his lower register, and impressively enough, from what I have heard in One Cold Winter's Night, has managed to retain the high register at the same time. As for Tommy... I just saw him in Portland with Kamelot and he was absolutely amazing. Both are extremely gifted vocalists and both, in my opinion fit Kamelot perfectly.
I am awaiting this new master work, and waiting for your coming here for Brazil
i love this song...Arjen, i love your music, forever composer pleases
Wow tommy is amazing that last scream gave me the goosebumps
I fell upon Seventh Wonder while looking for Edguy songs, and I fell upon Ayreon after learning Mr. Lucassen was on Avantasia's "Mystery of Time" album, Then I listened to "Age of Shadows" and heard Jorn, then my mind melted. I've bought every Avantasia and Ayreon album since. Huge fan, can't wait for this new album to come. :-)
waah another great singer !! cant wait anymore
Mr. Lucassen really knows how to give us what we want, including things we didn't know we wanted.
Awesome!!! That powerful voice!!! great pic. :D Gotta love Tommy!
Wow, great stuff! Can't wait! This is off topic, but how tall is Arjen and Tommy? What a difference! :-D
Great guy, Great singer and Kamelot is great too!
Waiting for this album is starting to get to me. That "Tell me why~!" though - wow! - I get chills every time I listen to it.
Fantastic that Tommy is on this album. I absolutely love Seventh Wonder (The Great Escape title track people, listen to it!) and like him as the new singer of Kamelot (altough I sincerely hope that he will be able to continue his work for SW). It is a good thing this guy starts appearing in more music. Hyped for this album, also because of the other artists.
Great Tommy is great!
Agreed, I've had the pleasure of anticipating most of the Ayreon albums before their release, I remember being hyped for Bruce when he recorded Into the Black Hole with Arjen, but come on.. Emerson & Wakeman, with so many awesome vocalists, SO HYPE!! D:
With Tommy's vocals and Arjen's amazing songwriting, I absolutely cannot wait for this album!
All of the keyboard players in this album are my main influences in the instrument and almost all of the vocallest there are great HUGE influences for me in the vocals (some I don't know yet but I'll research their work =D) I'm REALLY looking forward to buy this album master Lucassen. YOU ROCK!
I love Tommy!
all I can say is WOW. Can't wait for the new album!!!!
Come out already!!!! :D
Awesome!
Tommy is the man!
Listen to Lunar Sanctum , Wander , Dont you cry , So long, The Great Pandemonium, Elizabeth Pt. III, Pendulous Fall etc. Roy Khan's vocal range is the biggest of all and his voice is so sweet and emotional and theatric at the higher notes but even at the lower!
Are the all the vocalists done or can I still hope for Einar from Leprous to come?
So glad to see Tommy here too!
I was watching the extras on The Source dvd and he isnt featured on the whole 30 minutes 🤔😢
This is actually the most AMAZING concept album I've ever heard. I can't be the only one who sees ties to spectrum-related disorders, can I? With the "Prodigy," I mean. Bleh, I guess as someone who is on the autistic spectrum (more asperger's though), I kind of identify with the main character's struggles, at least for the first part. And I dunno, it just seems TOTALLY spot on with how most of society deals with non-neurotypicals. Just my two cents.
Glad you picked up Tommy, he´s one of the best hard rock singers! BTW Arjen, you are giant, how tall are you?
Love Tommy :)
oh! i just can't wait D:
Goddamn Arjen, you just made my day! Love Tommy and seventh wonder!
do want!!!!!!!!!
I really Hope There's a Bonus DVD with a Making off of the album
Excellent pick, his performance in The Theory of Everything and The Souce was unearthly
Most of us probably watched the whole album well listened and i cried just saying it get incredibly sad at the end
Even better than in Kamelot. 'Nuff said.
I would say very and not so much. Funny to see them next to each other!
Yeah, I'm amazed at how good Tommy sounds on this album. I knew he was solid from his work with Kamelot, but he is absolutely stellar on the Theory of Everything. My favorite vocal part by far. I think that has a lot to do with Arjen's amazing composition abilities in addition to Tommy's skills.
He's just as stellar in Seventh Wonder.
He's underutilized in Kamelot, honestly.
OMG!!
One cold winters night was from 06 supporting the black halo tour..the album I see as Khan 's vocal turning point. If u compare epica 03 to ghost opera in 07 there's a dramatic difference in his range
Be careful, Arjen. The universe might explode from this much awesome.
Tommy sounds great in these keys(more close to Seventh Wonder). He's a singer more in the style of Jorn & Russel Allen.Khan has a different vocal range, more low.
Arjen, will be more vocalists on the album that you haven't revealed yet?
Hell yeah, John Travolta.. I mean Tommy!! Great vocal range.
wow yessssss
:)
I'd go back to Khan's days with Conception to hear his vocal range.
Så jävla bra / Swedish for so Fu...ing good!!
What's the name of the album that tommy is singing on?
Just 2? that's not enough xD but for real it would be really nice to have a Making Off (:
Can the Tommy/Khan comparisons just stop for once? It's starting to get really annoying that every time I see a video with Tommy he is immediately compared to Khan. Both are amazing vocalists and arguing who is better than who won't change it.
he is definitely a grerat voice and very theatrical too..great choice
songs?
Stupid and sensual Tommy *__*
This album will be EPIC! (as always) lml
Is not a question of vocal range is a question of expression.
The vocal range of Roy was more high in the past & to me,personally is not a problem to have a certain register more deep.
Tommy is a singer very different from Roy & to be honest i prefer Roy that has a lot of dynamism & expression & a great vibrato, very operatic. But Tommy is perfect for hard-rock&prog stuff.
0:50-0:56.Eargasm. Each time.
Damn you people, why you bring Roy Khan here? Sure, he is a great singer, but has nothing to do neither with Tommy, nor with Arjen.
As for the "low vocal range" - what is so difficult to understand? The guy deffinatly has great low register. Is it an insult? I don't think so.
Now move on!
Then I would be repeating you for the eleventh time when I say that I am, too!
Te entro cómo chancho a la batata!
I want to lick this album only for a voice in my head to tell me, "YOU CAN'T DO TAT!." Then lick it anyway.
Tommy *-*
pro
In his prime Roy was incredible but he does not have that big range anymore. Still an amazing voice but in his recent years he could not reach the high notes as easily.
Antonio and Arjen, i'm sorry to say that Roy Khan is much better singer than Tommy Karevik, and Antonio, why did you say that Khan has a lower vocal range than Karevik?. i recommend that if you don't know, don't say things that are not true. The vocal range of Karevik is G♯2-F5, while the vocal range of Roy Khan is B♭1-G♯5.
