Seventh Wonder is one of my favorite progressive metal band (in the melodic and emotional style). Tommy has a lot more free field to express himself than in Kamelot, and his talent is really amazing (note that he is self-taught). The album Tiara is a concept imagined by the band, which is the continuation of their longest song, The Great Escape (30 mn!), adaptation on the previous album of a poem named Aniara, by the Swedish author Harry Martinson, Nobel Prize for Literature. The technique of the bassist and the guitarist, allied to the terribly evocative voice of Tommy, are to die for ! Great choice for the voice, but the other musicians do their best in the electric way.

    • @anttisaamanen2398
      @anttisaamanen2398 3 года назад +2

Tiara is something of a thematic sequel to Great Escape/Aniara, I think. Probably also inspired by Greta Thunberg, I'd imagine.
And Aniara is referenced in the lyrics to (iirc) Tiara's Song (Farewell pt. 1).

Your enthusiasm for Tommy's singing is infectious. It's very nice to hear someone describe what he's doing in both technical and lay terms. I sing, but I am not learned. I first heard Tommy on "Waiting in the Wings," and immediately took notice. When he joined Kamelot, I was ecstatic, although the actuality seemed more like he tried to be more Roy Khan-like in Kamelot instead of being Tommy (I have no idea if that's his bag, or Thom Youngblood's, or what. Not judging, just observing). Tommy absolutely kills in the songs, "Pieces," from "Waiting.." and "Tears for a Father," from "Mercy Falls." If I wasn't already an old man with too little time & sleep, I'd love to pick Tommy's brain on training, diet & maintenance, but as I will likely never be making a living singing, it's really hard to consider committing the resources. UGH! St00pid adulthood! 8'P Cheers!

    Hello yet again Elizabeth,
This is soo cool that you are hitting-up Seventh Wonder again, as-well as other more obscure bands :D.
There is really nothing more to add that others have already said about the band and "Tommy Karevik", but I VERY much recommend listening to the album title track "Mercy Falls". The chorus and melodies are gorgeous and the music has enough heaviness to give it a bit of a punch.
Another band that I believe started at the same time, from Denmark "Anubis Gate", had a very distinct vocalist (their 2nd); "Jacob Hansen", one of my favorites in Prog Metal. I HIGHLY recommend the track "Snowbound", again, great chorus, melodies, but a heavier Prog Metal sound. Their current vocalist was the the back-up for Jacob (and Bassist); "Henrik Fevre" for the last 4 albums.
But, I'm still trying to get you to hear 2 era's of vocal styles from one of the "Fathers" of Prog Metal; *Fates Warning.*
If its tracks from their 3rd album "Awaken the Guardian" with their very unique vocalist *John Arch* (Tenor and G2-B♭5 vocal range), or their long time vocalist *Ray Alder* (and his earlier as a F♯5 and later years as a Tenor and G2-G♯5 and E3 vocal ranges).
    - For the Arch era; "Fata Morgana", "Prelude to Ruin" (with FW's sister band *Arch/Matheos* . . .), "Under Stained Glass Skies", "Midnight Serenade", "Kindred Spirits", "Tethered".
    - For the Alder era; "Through Different Eyes", "The Ivory Gate of Dreams", "The Light and Shade of Things", "Eye to Eye", "Monument" - to give you _just a taste_ of his vocal ranges and various Prog Metal styles (he's done 10 albums with FW).
. . . its wishful thinking because not many people react to them (or even know who the band is, as "Queensryche" gets more of the accolades, being the 1st Prog Metal band, the 2nd being FW).
    - Again, thanks for the lessons \m/.

Another great reaction to a great performance. I subscribed to your Chanel 12 months plus ago, & have on numerous occasions requested you react to a young Soprano by the name of Amira Willighagen, but alas, my requests appear to have fallen on deaf ears.
I understand you may only react to those artists where you receive multiple requests, Angelina Jordon being one in particular.
Angelina is an absolute prodigy, with such a magnificent unique voice, & in no way would I compare Angelina to Amira, but I will point out they nearly mirror each other’s journey, even down to their philanthropic attributes. They are both prodigies, albeit with a completely different music genre.
So, please give Amira just one reaction as I’m always impressed with your reaction style & pertinent, informative comments.
Please react to “Ave Maria by Gomez at the Canisius Church “, when Amira Was 12 years old. ( a beautiful, emotion packed performance.)
