I was pretty sure you'd dig this one, Leigh. Brilliant musicians, brilliant melody, and enough unique elements to make it stand out. Also the message in the lyrics is really uplifting. I don't think it's possible for Tommy Karevik to make music I don't absolutely love.
Looking back in your reactions I saw and heard this one. One of my favorite songs of that year. I knew the band longer, they made some great records. Singer is fenomenal and all the band members are great. Unfortenaly Karavik left the band and the drummer is now in Sorcerer.
I think the musician's are fantastic and I am in awe of Tommy Karevik's voice. He emotes and tells a story beautifully. He is also the lead singer for Kamelot. He has discussed doing a solo album. I do hope it is not a progressive metal album. I really want him to showcase his voice.
Wow what a great song. The bass solo was unexpected, but I enjoyed it, the keyboard solo was good. The chorus was melodic and catchy and some heavy moments to change the atmosphere a little bit. I'm definitely interested in the album.
Tommy Karevik sings a lot better than the singers in the Swedish bands you mentioned. Not only that, he plays 3 instruments and writes or co-writes the music and lyrics for both Kamelot and Seventh Wonder. He is the lead singer of both. I am in awe of his talent. Do listen to Kamelot's new song One More Flag In The Ground, which is a metaphor of someone fighting disease and each step toward recovery is another flag in the ground.
Warum macht diese Band keine Weltkarriere? Was ist los mit der Musikindustrie! Genauso wie Eclipse! Die könnten Fußballstadien füllen! Die Welt stirbt an Oberflächlichkeit! Danke für diese Musik!
🙀 Good gallops (is that actually a word), harmonies, and seasoned band members. I actually bought their album "Mercy Falls" which I like. Also the video is very tasteful. I agree with you, with this genre on music, its not easy to pull off, I mean either you have it or you don't. But its even better when it just comes natural, which seems to be the case. This is an outstanding band ... thank you Leigh.
Good AOR-ish hard rock with an awful lot of trickery, giving insight in the superb musicianship. Wouldn’t call it progressive, really. Just a lot of extras letting everyone fiddle around the main theme, getting it to 6+ minutes. Let’s see how the whole album sounds.

LIsten to Tommy Karevik sing One More Flag In The Ground, Kamelot's first single from their new album. Tommy has an incredible voice.

The drummer is still in SW
Great analysis! I’ve had this on repeat since it came out. The constant key changes threw me for a loop initially but I soon saw “the light”. :)
I don't know if you're aware, but Karevik also sings in Kamelot.
I know. Isn't he awesome!!!!

For me, an absolute work of art

If you've never listened to them before, try the Waiting In the Wings album from 07, then move forward through their discography.
