Great explanation of issue, especially with wiring of right height sensor. When sensor is for levelling xenon lights and suspension, it has „doppelt” description on housing.
got the same problem, right air ride sensor reads error on wow. x5 e53 3.0i 2001. what system did you use to recalibrate after repair? great upload, thanks!!
I am battling with my 98' with diagnostic it says both left and right level sensor fault. Bought ZZVF brand and its not working. Compressor runs for a split second. Do you have some thoughts? Checked wires and all ar fine all the way from sensors to module
hi, great vid- i have a small problem,---i just changed both rear airbags on my e39 525d suspension,---before I renewed the rear airbag units I had a self levelling warning light on the dash, after replacing both rear airbag units I still have the warning light on the dash, I assume I need to re calibrate the rear suspension as one side is a bit lower than the other, and the cars computer wont do that, but the suspension air bags do pump up, but one side is a bit lower than the other, hence the warning light I assume!!,--- it has had a new (Chinese part) rear self levelling sensor I bought on eBay, my question is, how do I calibrate the rear suspension without the expense of taking it to a BMW shop ?. what hardware are you using to get all that BMW data and what software ?, what ever it is your doing it on your Lenovo laptop ?. any help much appreciated-thanks-David from uk.
The hardware / software that i'm using is exactly the same as BMW dealership . You can do it with a lot of diagnostic tools , like Launch X431 for example . Read your fault codes first , you will have some other problem most likely
hi,--i recently bought a foxwell 650 ellite scanner tool thinking it might read e39 trouble /codes , but so far it don't seem to read my car (bmw e39-2001-525d) chassis modules./ sensors. , but ime working on it, cheers - many thanks,
How can i raise up the rear pls I just recently replaced both rear air springs but still low ...to get it up higher do I need to set lower number cause I heard higher number it will lower the vehicle correct pls thanks
I replaced the right one . The the old right one , go to the left side . I know it doesn't make a lot of sense but i tried to explain in the video why it works like that . You can have some wiring problems then .
Thank you, man. I changed both sensors today and have to get somebody with a diagnostic tool - one side is higher than the other. Also, the error message did not disappear, there's still "SELFLEVEL SUSP INACT" on the display. The compressor is running. The bags are not leaking. Should the message disappear automatically or do I have to delete it with a computer?
hi - great vidoe can you help my problem pls- my car is a BMW E39 TOURING - year 2001- 525D I have a warning light on the dash, its the self levelling air suspension warning light. my suspension went down a bit over night off side rear... so, I replaced the rear 2 suspension air bags, then replaced the valve block manifold on the suspensions compressor as when put it in water container it was leaking air slightly, then replaced 1 of the suspension ride height controllers as it was broken. . after replacing all those parts the suspension is working fine, but the dash warning light is still on the dash !!. should the dash warning light go off automatic after a repair ??. or do i need a scan tool to recalibrate and turn off the warning light ?? if i need a scanner tool, do you know which cheap scanner tool will scan my e39 touring suspension and turn warning light off? and will it be able to re callibrate the rear suspension and then turn the dash light off?. any advice appreciated. thx dave
The light should turn off , if there is no error codes in the air suspension system . Without a scanner is going to be gambling what is the reason . Just buy INPA is should do the trick
Wow an excellent explanatory video. Thank you for taking the time to produce a very clear set of instructions to follow.
Thanks ! Happy it is understandable
