Something I wouldn’t have awaited in 100 years. Sreten installing something related to tuning and then it is a freakin supercharger. Man what a time to be alive.
Next step: FINALLY including legendary iron block M57 diesels, and tuning related to them into the series (especially as most BMW-s are hugeass diesels, and known for being that...)
It's so satisfying to see more and more companies recognizing Sreten's work and getting on board. Now, we should all work harder and tell everyone we know about this man and get his channel to 500k subs which he deserved long time ago!
I cannot express my gratitude for what you show us on this particular project. You began this not long after I bought my first E39, which just happens to be a touring. It started life as a 520i and I have since thrown that lump away and replaced it with M54B30. Every step you have taken and presented has mirrored either what I have, am, or will do to this car. Thank you for the brilliant content and for being the reason I bought the best cars I have ever owned.
Let the man play, he's been wrenching relentlessly for us for years. Plus he's got some track time he wants to get in occasionally. All good content and if it blows up, more good content.
A new M539 video! Yeeey... It's only 21 minutes long. Awww... But it has a supercharger in it. Yeeey.... But it doesn't have an intercooler. Awww.. But it's planned for the next episode. Yeeey.. But it's planned for the NEXT episode. Awww... Good job, Sreten! You just gave us a rollercoaster of emotions! Much love and appreciation man! Thanks for the quality content!
Sreten, I see you attack each platform as if you have no fear or concern. You act as if you already know absolutely everything you could possibly find good or bad. I have many friends who are mechanics by trade and they after many years still do not possess the level of confidence you exhibit. You already know the strengths and weaknesses of each variant and sub-variant. You show us armchair mechanics that indeed our favorite marquee does not require an advanced degree in physics to maintain or upgrade our vehicles. Thank you for what you do and for bringing us along with you. I for one am deeply indebted to you. Keep up the excellence.
This bimmer is very, very pretty. Everything is just NICE. The gorgeous timeless design, the colour, the interior, the wheels, the headlights and tail lights. That engine is a thing of beauty, it is what defines BMW. Fast, aggressive, sporty, yet elegant cars. You do well, Sreten 😎
I have the same kit fitted to my 330ci Clubsport 6 speed! The heat soak ruined it for me so I fitted an air to air intercooler, smaller pulley and converted to MAP sensor. Coupled with a 3.38 blackline LSD, it’s definitely livened it up! Intake temps are now always close to ambient.
Just recently found your Channel and love to see you restoring an E39! E39 driver from Wetzlar, Hessen here. I also have two E39s, maintenance helps with the cars, oh wonder, with everything. Both were neglected cars I bought for fairly cheap, but not such a steal as yours. Now both are also completely dry, no leaks... And the steering wheel doesn't shake and the brakes don't wobble. That is indeed possible if you look after these cars. But the 530i unfortunately eats 300-500 ml of oil per 1,000 km, and was probably mistreated by the previous owner for 200,000 km. It's probably due for a complete engine overhaul soon, as I'm not happy with the way it runs cold. Nothing has happened visually yet, everything else has priority. I drove it 30.000 km in a year as my daily without major issues and not a single breakdown after taking care of it. The conversion to the manual gearbox makes sense, I think the automatic is only designed for 350 nm and there are already up to 325 nm of torque available. I would also be interested in the conversion, even though as a daily driver I am not at all averse to the automatic. We will try to technically overhaul the automatic if it should be necessary and when we get the parts, as I have someone at hand that already has experience with other torque converter transmissions from BMW. Keep up the great work!
I love how Sreten is making a "Daily driver". Love your videos Sreten! Appreciate that you finally get recognized in the automotive RUclips community and got some screen time on AutoAlex channel. :)

I’ve watched Streten for a couple of years now and finally decided to join Patreon. In my opinion it’s so worth to get the early access to videos and I regret that I didn’t join Patreon sooner 😄 As for the video it was interesting as always and I’m really looking forward for the manual swap 👍
I'm not even fussed about the early access even though it's nice, I joined Patreon because I use an ad blocker and there's no way I'm not supporting this brilliant channel!
Honestly I was never a huge fan of the 5 series (aside from the M5 that is) but after watching your series on this 530 i really leaned into wanting a wagon again and i've found a Toledo blue on black 525i touring that these videos are like a guide of very nice upgrades to install. keep up the good work!
I daily drove a stock e39 530i for a long time and want a change. Most importantly, it simply needs more power for the Autobahn. Everything stays stock except for the engine.
Just what I needed on a dreary Tuesday morning! Can't wait for this one :-) I feel reassured in my thoughts watching the autobahn pulls that it didn't seem, honestly, THAT much quicker and the results on the dyno show how badly you're being affected with high intake temps. Definitely will benefit hugely from an intercooler if that's a route you choose to go down.
At such low boost it's not much of an issue + its more convenient (and common) to run meth injection paired with these superchargers because there's not much room for piping. There is however room for piping if you go the turbo route
@@strait6 i mean, exactly in the case of Supercharger it really matters a lot, hot air or cooled, because it delivers not so much of it (hot especially), if compared to Turbocharger, thats why you see dyno numbers are so different when the car is hot and cool, with turbo it wont be That much of a difference
GIVE US PART 9!!! 😡 Lol! Amazing! All it took was one video and now I'm almost done watching all your videos. Please don't stop doing this, like ever! You need to keep doing this even when you're 80 and using a cane. Also, I am really liking the small mods and performance stuff you started doing as I get into newer videos. I don't know which project is my favorite, because they're all so good; but I do have a bias towards E46's as I have 4 now and the first one that I immediately fell in love with. About to start converting one of my ZHP's to a full and complete E46 M3 Sedan, so wish me luck!
I had both and I must say - the B30 engine is waaaay better, because it gives you the power after 5,5k rpm wheres in 528i it was starting to lose the torque.

I wouldn't swap it 6 speed manual but 8hp gearbox with custom TCU ;) Much more unique and can have clutch by wire! Planning to do this with my e39 540.
My god, I hope you'll eventually get misha to take this around the ring. Your work is truely remarkable Streten and I hope to see more of these OE+ upgrades you give to these old gems
Lovely work Sreten! Very cool to see the whole supercharger installation on the 530i. Is the watercooled intercooler on the main coolant circuit? Will it require a stronger waterpump due to extra flow resistance?
Interesting build. I notice some changes in your videos recently. You spend less time in showing the disassembly :-/ It is now more of a ripping apart which makes it more difficult to see how it is being done properly without breaking everything. It actually feels a bit of a rush and stresses me. I enjoyed the calmness of the older videos more. That being said, the step away from keep it OEM is of course your decision and 90+% of the enthusiast community will love it, so definitely a wise move to keep the channel growing. However, personally I am not the biggest fan of leaving OEM. This orange pipe looks fugly and the new airfilter is a joke. Sreten of the old days might have spayed the pipe matt black installed a proper filter and hide it away by modifying the original box - but of course I get it, the build is not finished on that, so I am curious how it proceeds. And please tell us more about the Alpina gearbox software for us folks who have a similar gearbox but prefer to avoid bigger mechanical surgeries to improve it. As interesting it is to see the mods on project Frankfurt and Rottweil, I hope we continue to see also some bone stock restaurations, which I would also hope for the Alpina B10V8S belonging to. That one is so rare, that it would be a shame to see its spec changed from how it was build by Alpina when new.
i love how this channel has evolved from not only showcasing the extraordinary talents (and humour) of Sretan, but also highlighting the amazing engineering and craftsmanship of small specialist manufacturers who share a similar passion in motoring.
Just something to consider for future. As a general rule you should try and avoid any soldering in the engine bay. Use crimps when ever you can. This car has turned in to an absolute dream. Amazing work as usual man.
We've always called those orange hammers Dead Blow Hammers. Ive been working with them for 39 years. Maybe they have a different name for them in Canada. I am a great fan of the channel and following everything from the beginning. My daily is a 04 520i Touring which I maintain myself and I learned a lot from Sreten's videos. I loved the way he restored older BMWs to their original OEM glory but there is a shift towards performance enhancing modifications like in this video. I hope that Sreten will continue to make cars look like they just came from the factory. And also keep an eye on the pace, not too much fast forward timelapsing. In this video the entire intake department was dismantled in like 30 seconds. Please keep educating us and keep up the good work.
Wish i could overhaul my e39 530d with this dude.. His own shop with his tools, his parts cleaning machine and his big knowledge ... It would be a dream for me.. But in northern Germany it is very expensive to get space for working on cars(just for hobby).. So i have to work old-school on ramps.. Annoying but it works
Man i love you so much! I much enjoy watching your videos, you cant beleve. Because of you i will buy BMW :) now i have all tutorials. I love your jokes and small commentaries that you insert in videos about your opinions about something. Just keep it UP! Pozdrav iz Beograda ;)
manual swapping my e38 was the best thing i've ever done. now I need to supercharge it! 347bhp as of right now (m62b46 swapped as well), but with a nice blower on top? oh yeah, she's gonna boogie.
A few months back I finally achieved my dream to own a e39 it's 2002 530dA touring it's not something spicy I know but for me that car is perfect. About the video content it's always interesting and a person always can learn something from you.
Really cool project! I had a 520i with a 525 engine in it. Had to replace the 520i engine as it started smoking and ticking. Didn’t really like the m54 engine. It had a healthy compression and brand new ccv but still consumed loads of oil. Switched to an e60 with the n52 engine and never looked back. E34 and e60 are my favorite 5 series so far and I own both ❤
My suggestion, start with a cold air intake before opting for an intercooler, which is where I think you said you were heading. At low boost levels the added heat from compression will be low, but with hot ambient air ingestion, the added heat gets to a "too high" temperature level. Ambient plus 10-12C is where I'd aim. Water/meth is a kluge and to be avoided. Leaks and low fluid levels are a risk. Water-to-air intercooling might be the best option if you go down that path. My V8 runs 10:1 compression with 19psi of boost in factory form with water-to-air. Very consistent performance. My I4 runs air-to-air with the largest Wagner competition intercooler I could find. It stays with +12C. It's not slow. Good luck on your journey.
Split a hose wrap that power steering hose, zip tie and let that rub the bracket. More time to catch a drastic rub to the PS pump hose and protect that hose
If you are planing on replacing the mechanical fan clutch you could flip the upper radiator hose by cutting the clamps that will give you more room for the power steering line and probably more space between the hose and the supercharger.
Get some good quality 3m double wall with glue heat shrink tube. Use it for your power steering line against the bracket. It will protect that line very well I've used it for things like that and it does wonderful very good stuff
This supercharger kit is not for all out power. It's for making your 530i faster than a 540i while having the lightness, handling, and steering of a 530i, being easy and cheap to install, maintaining reliability and emissions, improving driveability, all while using pump gas.
Man, I've worked on quite a few late 90s and early 00s BMW, and I'd love to have someone like you working with me on them. I feel like we have the same OCDs (ridiculously detailing a daily), same tricks (although I learn a lot from yours!) and products. I love the E39 touring. The older I get, the more I want a touring too!! One personal taste: I really don't like LED/white bulb for the angel eyes. I feel like it defeats the "keep it stock, keep it classy" mindset :/ the yellow ones sure didn't age well, but it gives it more of a "sleeper" look! I mean, I say that while I added angel eyes on my E46 330Ci :D (before removing it)
I love the direction you are going in with this restoration. It really looks so good already, now waiting excitedly to see the result with the 6 speed manual gearbox, which will also probably bring about some weight saving too, as a bonus.
Beautiful car. I put a non-intercooled level 1 supercharger in my 03 330i and have never regretted it. Well, until I had to take out some of it to do the CVV. No room at all on the intake side. But it took HP from stock to like 340. Torque went from 190ish ft pds to 280 ish. And watching all the steps you’re doing, it is so similar to the install I did. At least, as far as extending the MAF wire, extending the power, steering hose, etc..

But in northern Germany it is very expensive to get space for working on cars(just for hobby).. So i have to work old-school on ramps.. Annoying but it works
This is my favorite channel on you tube. I’m almost out of unseen videos though😢
Man i love you so much! I much enjoy watching your videos, you cant beleve. Because of you i will buy BMW :) now i have all tutorials. I love your jokes and small commentaries that you insert in videos about your opinions about something. Just keep it UP! Pozdrav iz Beograda ;)
The fact that the video is just 20 minutes shows your excitement to pump this video out to share your excitement and joy.
manual swapping my e38 was the best thing i've ever done. now I need to supercharge it! 347bhp as of right now (m62b46 swapped as well), but with a nice blower on top? oh yeah, she's gonna boogie.
I really love your cars Sreten , but that Dodge Viper (16:47)that's...that is something different 😍😄😄
i love it when yt shows only 1,5k views and already 4,1k likes.
that always a good sign to new members of our supportive community ;)
A few months back I finally achieved my dream to own a e39 it's 2002 530dA touring it's not something spicy I know but for me that car is perfect. About the video content it's always interesting and a person always can learn something from you.
New favorite channel! Love to see more European car channels - especially when they’re this good!
I like the box with empty beer bottles image at the end of the episode! Very well deserved!
Oh the oem PLUS, can't wait for the cooler intake and 6 speed el manuel🎉
Really cool project! I had a 520i with a 525 engine in it. Had to replace the 520i engine as it started smoking and ticking. Didn’t really like the m54 engine. It had a healthy compression and brand new ccv but still consumed loads of oil. Switched to an e60 with the n52 engine and never looked back. E34 and e60 are my favorite 5 series so far and I own both ❤
I didn’t even realise the video was 21 minutes, so fun to watch these. Thank you for the great content quality Sreten!
im thinking about doing the same to my 1999 e39 528i with a 5speed manual...this video is inspirational to me...🙂
My suggestion, start with a cold air intake before opting for an intercooler, which is where I think you said you were heading.
Я уже подписан!! Очень нравится канал и работа!! парень молодец!! Я сам фанат БМВ из Москвы
super sweet...so happy to seeing the crapomatic going and a six speed man coming in
It bring be pure joy when i open the youtube app and i see that you have released a new video.
Keep up the great work 🤝🏼
This supercharger kit is not for all out power. It's for making your 530i faster than a 540i while having the lightness, handling, and steering of a 530i, being easy and cheap to install, maintaining reliability and emissions, improving driveability, all while using pump gas.
I wish we still had station wagons in the US.
No new ones, anyway.
I love this guy 😊
For supercharger drive belts, use Continental Elite, formerly Goodyear Gatorback for best traction.
I'm really liking the turn this channel is getting
Teşekkürler.
Finaly new video!❤🙂👊
18:05 Great,Sreten is about 900m from my House and i dont know about it until now😅
Man, I've worked on quite a few late 90s and early 00s BMW, and I'd love to have someone like you working with me on them.
For the same reason i put a 325i badge on my E90 325i too. Aswell as a 2.5 badge under the sideblinker like a Z4
This is by far the best automotive yt-channel, especially for BMW enthusiasts.
Great content as always. I know everyone in this channel is looking forward to see a BMW E46 M3 in this channel !...
I wish I can go back to where I first met this channel and watch every video again
Why this guy have only 451k subscribers.. this is perfect content
Amazing simply beautiful and so exciting!! Looking forward for the new intercooler and more power!! What an amazing piece of work! Well done
Damn I love this guy! More addictive than the actual E39 M5. Keep up the good work!
Sreten has the best scream on youtube
hi sreten the badges off on bmws was something i allways though was cool even better with steel wheels no wheel trims and and non metalic paint with only the exhaust giveing away the potential [by the way urs is twisted at the back im sure u know ]
Какая же все-таки крутая машина БМВ пятёрка Touring, диски идеально подходят под этот вагон, цвет бомбический, формы всё великолепно
the 2 best things in a car, power and kombi!
Years ago Vehicle Virgins put a supercharger on his E39 M5 and he think he actually lost power because there was no intercooler. Nice car, love it.
Seeing you wrenching on your cars is what I enjoy the most.
I hope some of your older garage dwellers will get some of your attention as well.
Good job. Please keep wrenching.😊
hey a 20 minute video. Very rare to find from our legend M539!
