@@kjyu This is sad to say, but these are HIS cars. Would it be safe to assume a mechanic would put THIS much care and time into a car that wasn't his? He needs to get the cars in and out to get paid, so he can get paid. Sreten does it for the love of the job and the mechanical health of his fleet.

"took me like 20 minutes to arrange all of this"... Sreten, you have no idea how someone with OCD like myself genuinely appreciates you taking the time to do that. You always take your work and your fans seriously. Great video. And I won't ask how long it took you to do the parts layout at the opening. ✌️❤️
Much as I enjoy the wrenching (and I do - a lot), but I'm really looking forward to the interior being sorted out (including Sparky the electric chair) and the final exterior polish and finish. It's going to be an absolute ripper when done.
I can't express how happy this series makes me. In november last year I picked up my first BMW, an E39! Orient blue, 6 cilinders, manual and black leather interior. It's not perfect but it's mechanically about 80% right now. Will be using you as inspiration to hopefuly one day get it to 95%+ like you do with yours.
man, i can't think of anyone who would give this car this much love as you do. i work at a dealership in RLP, Germany and if i would have bought this car, we would have just sold it to a guy who ships it to africa or some place it will rott until eternity. nice to see the dedication and endless knowledge you have over BMW cars
I have been waiting for the next part of this overhaul. I love how you do thing's the right way, and use OEM parts, because the aftermarket garbage just doesn't work, or craps out in a couple month's. G-d bless everyone.
This channel has given me the confidence to start working on my own German car. I bought a used q7 and I absolutely love it and will start with the basics soon (oil change, fluid changes, spark plugs). 😁
My weekly dose of wrenching therapy. Had a e60 8 years ago. For a tie rod and one rear control arm stealer quoted me over 700 euros. Car had 100k miles, decided to do all of it myself. Front and rear arms, shocks, tie rods, track rod ends, drop links, bushings, discs and pads, the full works. 3 grand later and the car drove like new. All Sachs and lemforder bits. Can't beat them.
Seriously among the few video content creators' videos I thoroughly enjoy from start to finish! Thank you good Sir for excellent content! This series makes me long even more for the E39 525i Touring (in, I believe, Titanium Silver Metallic) my father had when I turned 18. My gosh what a car that was!
I just have to say, I don't comment much on channels but I hope you always continue making videos because I love this channle so freaking much. Its sad to say but you actually ruined other car channels for me lol because it bothers me when I see other youtubers who don't torque or clean up their mess when working. You've set the bar really high and I appreciate every little detail you do like adding this spf coat this. Like nobody does that, Nobody cleans there parts. Love the attention to detail, it is my favorite part about this channel. Thank you sir, will always watch all your videos.
I’m glad to see you using EBC red pads on this episode. I put vented discs and EBC red pads on my 520d F10 and they work awesomely. Keep up the amazing work.
It’s funny, I had EBC Green on a 1997 Miata when I bought it and hated them. I know they make great pads, but I’m still scared. Been using OEM on my e60 535xi, mostly out of fear. But I have black wheels, so nobody sees the caked on dust between washes.
Honestly I don't think there are any objects I covet more than a factory fresh E39 Touring... thanks for making my dream so tantalisingly real. Always love watching the content!
For the brake pistons that do not want come out, the tip I have is to use a grease gun and thread in the caliper, it puts a lot of pressure in the caliper and I was always able to remote the pistons, even the most stuborn ones. As always, awesome job from you, thank you for the videos.

Guten Tag.
As always, fantastic video! I swear, your content is like a time machine into the future! Nowhere else on RUclips does watching 50 minutes of video feel like 5! I'm like...what? You just started like 5 minutes ago! Then I realize it's been nearly an hour! Thanks for making and sharing such entertaining, informative, and engrossing content, Sreten! Cheers!
My new favorite channel! I threw some style 42s on my e34 535i/5 which bolted right up more or less. Recently let it go in a trade for parts and labor on the f82. No more old bimmers for me and I really mean it this time.
¿Quién necesita Netflix o HBO teniendo este maravilloso canal de RUclips? Expléndido! Muchas gracias por otros 50min gozando la mecánica y restauración, eres un crack!! ;)
I’m a gardener, couldn’t fix anything like you do. But you’re great to watch and listen to, I like the fact you didn’t add a whole bunch of music or speed up parts of the process so that individuals like me could enjoy observing just how you do what you do, so competently. Great work. Hi from New Zealand
Love your work being an e38 and an e39 owner in New Zealand. Like others your content has inspired me to do my own work. Thank you! I was surprised you didn’t clean the rear suspension……I was conflicted! You deserve every success!
That plastic stuff from liqui moly works awesome. Used it on the wheel liners of my 18 year old car cause they whitened out (side-pipes run right by it). It turned them back to black instantly!
Чувак, я никогда не встречал таких людей как ты, обслуживание своего любимого BMW, я люблю смотреть твои видео, они многому учат, как нужно относиться к своим машинам, и их модернизации, огромнейшее респект Сетерн.
Hey Sreten, I've started watching your videos about 3 weeks ago and already watched every one of your projects, so if you could from now on upload every day that would be nice. 😅
If no one all ready said it, a grease gun is super effective on frozen caliper pistons if air pressure don't cut it. Always a pleasure watching this videos 👍🙂
Sreten i admire your work. I've been following you for a while now, I think since project Dubai. And i haven't watched all your videos, but whenever i have the time it's just awesome and relaxing to watch your work unfold on my screen. You also inspire me to work on my own car, a 26 year old Peugeot 205 which i also bought in neglected state and now use as a daily driver. Thank you once again and i wish you all the best from the Netherlands!
I don't know how, but the videos keep getting better and better. Can't wait for you to start working on the E92 M3 so I can do mine as well while you do it.
Great work as always. Here's a top tip to stop brake lines dripping when changing some parts out. If the brake pedal is depressed slightly, and held down, the fluid will not leak out, and the loss will be minimal, due to the valves in the master cylinder closing. I use this all of the time, and it does save on the system getting fully drained.
Oh the guilt, sitting here watching you do all this great restoration on the car knowing my E46 is sitting just outside needing most of the same love. I am proud of the fact that she has 243000 miles with just routine maintenance, a couple cooling systems, a couple of new control arms. I just wish I had these skills.
I am 16 years old and I am the only one in my age groupe who only likes BMW's and only likes them OEM, One of the main reasons I enjoy your channel so much! Keep up the great work man!
14:52 have, twice. Both times on cars that had been through deep freezes. 15:20 induction coil. For stuff like that, that gets replaced (i'm still reticent on using it for stuff that's going to be left on the car on account of how heat affects the metals), worth the cost, makes removal so much more easier. I personally recommend heating it up, spraying it, then leaving it a bit to cool down again.
I use EBC Redstuff on my 2003 VW Phaeton, significantly better than OEM and most aftermarket I have come across particularly for heavier cars Awesome video as always!
Sreten, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. You should be training BMW’s next generation of technicians. 30+ years ago when I was starting out, I would love to have experienced this level of knowledge and craftsmanship. Another great episode, kudos to you sir!
This might be one of my fav episodes of the channel. As a suspension obsessive, the detail is amazing. Anyone else love the inverted rear shocks and geometry of the E39 Touring?! When the E39 came out, I remember a car mag saying something about wishing the fenders were transparent to see the aluminum magic in action. As always, our leader, Mr. Streten, does the good work and meticulous refurbishment needed. Makes me want to step out in the rainy SF night and figure out my screaming wheel bearings and why the left control arm vibrates at 80mph on 280!
Nice work as always Sreten!! Looking forward to see it on the autobahn!! 💪 On your M5 you replaced the brake booster with I think one from a 7 series. Are you going to do it one this car as well or is did not necessarily?
I have driven over 400.000 km with EBC red stuff on BMW'S. I like them a lot. You keep the wheels clean and they brake better than original on high temperatures. They are also easyer to the brake discs
Just came home from a busy day at work. Starting youtube, a new vid from Sreten!!! Nice cup of coffee, installing myself on the couch. Time to enjoy! Now this is entertainment!
Great content as always! Was hoping to see you swap out the bushings in the lower rear swing as well or rather see how you do that - I have heard that those guys are a real pain to get out. Maybe another time... ;)
Not sure if you did this on purpose, but I love the mechanical torque wrench sound wayyy more than the digital one. It sounds so much better and more satisfying, arguably the best part of your videos.
In this Episode: A man Grunts Loudly while using Copious amounts of Lube. We learn new German Expletives. And a mystery person, in a reflection (22:17)
Another amazing video. I accidentally came across your channel and then proceeded to watch almost every one of your videos. Initially, I thought you were german and was a bit confused because you had a great sense of humour (not something germans are known for). But after watching your Q&A video and learning where you are from originally, it made more sense :D. Veliki pozdrav iz Hrvatske
Great videos . Watch every one religiously . Good to see huge jackman make a return . This car really needs a nice set of bumpers . The msport rear bumper possibly paired with a Alpina front bumper . Would look great
Why we don’t grease the sliding calliper pins: The rubber inserts in the calliper are actually intended to GRIP the pins, so that when the brake pedal is released after a braking phase, the sliding yoke springs back a little, fully releasing the outboard pad from the disc. We don’t have to worry about the inboard pad because it’s clipped into the piston and is retracted when the master cylinder sucks it off (er) the disc. Greasing the pins eliminates any movement of the yoke after a braking phase, the outboard pad remains in full contact (albeit with no real pressure) with the disc causing it to absorb more heat than its counterpart, scratch away the all important transfer layer on the disc surface and wear itself down more in the process. Thankyou, great episode and can’t wait for project Frankfurt!
These caliper pins are the same style on my Volvo XC70 and was also debating if I should grease them. Volvo says do not but that day I felt the opposite of what Sreten did :)
M539 Is by far the most entertaining automotive youtuber. I cannot stress how much I enjoy watching your videos. Love your content! Also I learn so much watching you do your magic!
Caliper painting tip: Use a hot melt glue gun to carefully cover any odd area or shape you don't want painted. Cut thin cardboard to cover the bore and glue in place. The glue peels off easy when the paint is dry 👍
Is there any possibility that you share with us all the part numbers you used for the suspension ? Thank you in advance ! :) I hope you'll never stop making these videos. Best channel ever ! :D Thank you for all that you do . ( 1st comment I posted, even though I watched all the videos you shared with us on this channel, some of them multiple times)
Love from the Uk love the professionalism in these videos great motivation now to fix all my suspension on my 330 and hopefully do a great job like this
One of your best videos man. You are learning and developing and it shows. Keep it up my friend i am glad you do what you love and you really entertain, educate and inspire me. Greetings from Egypt
I have a national math test tomorrow that plays a major role in my future education possibilities but just noticed this video and couldn’t help myself….. cheers from Finland! A big fan of your work!
You make it look easy! I replaced the rose joints on my e61 on jack stands... never never never again! Huge difference with control arms, shocks, sway bars, etc.

I don't have a BMW and I'm not a mechanic but I love watching these videos. Chapeau to you, you're a craftsman at work.
Every single video is a masterpiece, to be enjoyed over and over again. Thank you Sreten for such fine work.
Man, love this video and this channel, tough day at work then watch this and it is brilliant, love your sense of humour too. Keep it up buddy 👍
I have anxiety and panic disorder. Everytime I feel too overwhelmed by a situation your posts calm it right down .... Please dont stop !!!!!
Very great episode, I can’t wait for you to start working on the M3!
I use EBC Redstuff on my 2003 VW Phaeton, significantly better than OEM and most aftermarket I have come across particularly for heavier cars
Awesome video as always!
Seeing someone do the job right on a BMW without complaining on X or Y factor... is so frakking refreshing. Awesome work and attention to detail.
Killer upgrades and killer upper body workouts!
Your videos are highlights of my week. Anyone working on a BMW should have these as required watching before taking on a maintenance project.
On your M5 you replaced the brake booster with I think one from a 7 series. Are you going to do it one this car as well or is did not necessarily?
I have driven over 400.000 km with EBC red stuff on BMW'S. I like them a lot. You keep the wheels clean and they brake better than original on high temperatures.
They are also easyer to the brake discs
Você realmente é muito bom no que faz!!
Parabens!!
As always, Stella video. The production quality is akin to a television series with a full crew. Always blown away by your attention to detail.
Maybe another time... ;)
I've done that on project Dubai. Here they are good. :)
Not sure if you did this on purpose, but I love the mechanical torque wrench sound wayyy more than the digital one. It sounds so much better and more satisfying, arguably the best part of your videos.
In this Episode:
A man Grunts Loudly while using Copious amounts of Lube.
Would look great
Why we don’t grease the sliding calliper pins:
The rubber inserts in the calliper are actually intended to GRIP the pins, so that when the brake pedal is released after a braking phase, the sliding yoke springs back a little, fully releasing the outboard pad from the disc.
Good read, thank you!
I have just started fixing my 540i Touring so this is a big help! Thanks, Sreten!
Video quality is 100%! Your skills 100% when you hurt yourself I 😅 100%! Very good episode and I like this car very much
These caliper pins are the same style on my Volvo XC70 and was also debating if I should grease them. Volvo says do not but that day I felt the opposite of what Sreten did :)
M539 Is by far the most entertaining automotive youtuber. I cannot stress how much I enjoy watching your videos. Love your content! Also I learn so much watching you do your magic!
the perfect end every episode, well balanced and no crap, just good wrenching. ME GUSTA.
Blessed once again with magnificent BMW wrenching content - thank you Sreten!
Caliper painting tip:
Use a hot melt glue gun to carefully cover any odd area or shape you don't want painted. Cut thin cardboard to cover the bore and glue in place. The glue peels off easy when the paint is dry 👍
Project Rottweil is great. I can’t wait for the next episodes. Love to see these old work horses fed and watered. More please. 😊
Sreten i think i could literally sit at my computer and decompress after work watching you wrench and LEARNING from you. Thank you
You know what I love about the vapor blast machine, the little windscreen wiper. It's the unsung hero
What a perfect night to end, thanks again for a beautiful 50 minutes of art.
This is some of the best of M539. Just gorgeous!
Still waiting for an answer :) Can you be so kind ? :)
Love from the Uk love the professionalism in these videos great motivation now to fix all my suspension on my 330 and hopefully do a great job like this
Your videos are purifiers. It is so satisfying to see years of rust and dirt removed back to its original condition. Purifier.
The only channel where rusty screws get replaced by OEM awesomeness. Classic Sreten…well done.
When you showed the wheels it finished my wishlist for my 530i touring. So Jealous yet so impressed at the same time.
The patience you applying during the cleaning phase is amazing.
You make it look easy! I replaced the rose joints on my e61 on jack stands... never never never again! Huge difference with control arms, shocks, sway bars, etc.
Always the best narration and super attention to detail. Congratulations for your professionalism from far away in the Caribbean.
If you owned a refurb shop, I don't know how you'd find employees who'd live up to your standards of excellence. Very well done!!
And thank you so much for doing (and showing me how to do) what I would like my next Touring to be.
Every time I get a notification about your latest video, I do a little happy dance inside. Great way to de-stress after day at work.
