When I was a kid, I used to think that the top gear guys had the best job in the world… now at 35 years old, I would LOVE to do everyday what you do Sreten. Keep the amazing work going. Great episode on a great car.
Are you sure? There is a lot of what you don‘t see. Making research, repeating takes, because the camera failed, editing videos and don‘t forget, learn how to edit videos. And after all my understanding is, he still has a main job. Be careful what you ask for. I think, this guy doesn‘t sleep much.
@@kaiulrich6185I think Sreten has given up his other job and doing this full time now.
Yeah he confirmed that in the bmw classic podcast (highly recommend) that he quit his day job last year
Just get yourself an older BMW and you can do what Sreten does almost every day 😉
@@Robert.Lehmann I have one, but would love to make a living out of it.
1 hour 22 minutes? You spoil us. Perfect for getting me through the daily drag.
think about that 1 hour 22 mins and hes had 195k people watch it and i bet they watched it all
@@murphychris9811 494k now and yeah bcuz most are here to learn probaply. Also to watch a man take proper care of his machines.
No time lapse is a treat.
I think his utilities come straight out of his paycheck, lol.
@@mcjong2205 i watch as i like him hes funny hes abit odd and we both love the bmws
I bought a 2003 E39 540i m-sport sedan last year and have been working on it a lot. I really appreciate this series; you show repairs in detail that I can't find elsewhere on the internet. I also appreciate how thorough you are and how you like to keep it mostly original instead of making distasteful modifications. Thank you Sreten!
I'm not a mechanic, I work in the charity sector, and I can't even drive, but these videos and your attitude to restoration are a joy. I really appreciate the time, detail and humour permeating all you do.
In a crazy insane world, watching Sreten work is like chicken soup for the soul.
It really is good for the soul watching Sreten.
Even better with Mitzi.
I always look forward to his first magic words," Coooming up"
😢😢😢😢😢
Retweet.
It doesn't matter if it's a great day or a horrible day... After watching an 1,5 hour long new video from Sreten, every day is magnificent!
Your attention to detail and workmanship is second to none. Truly impressive
How have you not got millions of subs? Honesty some of the best content around. Now with Mutzi content as well! What more do you want?
Petition to make Mutzi the channel mascot
always has been
If you're an OG follower... Youd know she always has been 😉
Yes
I have concentration problems in my life but i watched this video in one sitting without loosing interest, that speaks volume. Good job Sreten i'm happy the episodes is longer than usual
@@Majko420 sure Professor. Thanks for the explanation. 😄
@@Majko420 professor 🐎🕳️ lol
I love that Sreten will do extended footage of driving and puts us in first person. Too many youtube channels fix a car, drive it for 20 seconds on film then call it a day and move to the next project. Well done Sreten!
Always a highlight of my day to see some M539!
Same
And some Mutzi!
1hr 22 minutes Streten changing the game lately basically a feature film every couple of weeks absolutely blown away by the quality, the detail and the level of your workmanship 🙌
There's no better feeling in this world then opening RUclips and seeing a video from you♥️♥️♥️♥️ great job man, honestly
39:07 beautiful result, the black edging and 10mm difference is just lovely
These videos are Gold!!! This is going to be one of RUclips’s biggest Car automotive channels Ever! The force is strong with this one!
This has to be my favourite episode so far because mostly everything you restored is what i need to do to my one and it is incredibly hard to find how to properly do it on the internet
I feel the same
I am looking forward for the 6 Speed Swap...
I hope he will not use the S6S 420G because it is so fing expensive
I have to agree with you Sreten, the E39 is by far the best 5 series ever made!
Man, you can literally see how some of these BMW parts were good quality made, did you see those door cards how firm they were ? Another quality episode from Streten and Mitzi !
This has quickly become one of my favorite YT channels. You do great work, and the fact that you provide so much advice with patience and humor truly inspires your audience to overcome their fear, grab a ratchet, and get to work on servicing their car.
Much thanks, keep up the great work, and best wishes from Brooklyn NY!
Now that's a satisfying ending. Can't wait to see how the Mutzi approved interior and the polished exterior will look like, it's going to be beautiful!
Should do mutzi approved bmw t shirts 😂
Szia uram, 120 l-es Hajdú bojler nem érdekel?
In many ways this chanel is in the big league with Harry's Garage and Tyrell's Classic Shop and Sreten is one man operation while they're not.
This particular video really exposed this man's passion for old BMW's and very few people compare IMO.
Those model years rank as some of the best looking BMWs made, elegant but understated, plus they communicated a feeling of solid construction. The new ones look like cartoon caricatures. I don't know what possessed BMW to adopt the current styling. Good work and enjoy the fruits of labors.
i love the cleaning process, you are always so GRÜNDLICH :)
Sweet papaya 1 hour and 22 minutes video, thank you Sreten i enjoyed every minute!
I love every e39 video you create. As a former owner and big fan, I fully agree these are phenomenal cars and deserve to be kept running.
We missed you Sreten! 88 min and 17 seconds of awesomeness. Thank you for sharing with us.
Wow, that cluster work was making me so nervous! Not sure I could handle that
Such a shame about the faulty parts as well.
I'm attempting to cross the Irish Sea from Ireland on a ferry. It's gone 2am, and I'm sat here swaying, watching an hr and a half of Sreten tinkering on an E39. I have no idea when we'll eventually dock, I'm passed caring now tbh, but thanks Sreten, brilliant content as per! 😎👍🏻😴
Doing little things to a car you love really does make it special. My daily car is a e60 535xi, it’s mostly stock and will remain mostly so. My old love is a 2002 Miata that is far from stock. It was stored (badly) for about five years due to an exploding relationship. When I met my now wife she said that I should make it drive again. She now loves it when I am covered in grease and swearing like a sailor in the garage, she says that it means a lot to her that I’m saving something that means so much to me. She’s the best, the car is a heirloom at this point and yes we have a fluffy little white dog like Streten now! Happy spring to all.
You released an entire movie. Thank you Sreten! 😊🙏
Love the cluster fix, this is still one of the best looking clusters ever made.
Simplicity = perfection
He certainly added a lustre to that cluster!!
You are such a reference Sreten. I saw your interview at BMW Classics channel and you look stunning, plus I listened to the podcast from them and I loved your journey till today! Full description of each step, and I remember the episode where you told the audience that you quit your job! That was meaningful!!! Keep your north buddy!!
How can I find the podcast?
Best part of this video was watching you delicately work on the electronics. Such satisfaction!
i love how you include mutzy in the video she should become the mascot for M539 restorations!
I think Mutzi is gonna get her own channel soon..LOL. As always, nicely done, Sreten and congrats on the podcast and BMW Classic link.
I'm convinced that this is the best DIY auto repair channel on RUclips! No one does a more thorough job and attention to detail than you!
Absolutely great episode, Sreten! The car performs extremely good for those years on the clock! I can’t wait for the episodes with the e92 M3.
The E39 with the M54B30 is such a balanced combination. I miss my 01 sedan and this video series makes me miss her that much more! Good job rejuvenating a classic brother.
Fantastic work Sreten! But please please don't get rid of the wood trim! It looks so classy and beautiful!
Probably getting different grain/wood trim
Yeah, something less glossy and with more natural wood look
You probably know by now that I loooove a nice set of wood trim, but base E39 wood trim I never liked. Birch, Pappel Natur... are much nicer, though hard to find. I'm going to put Technical Graphite trim, works really well with a gray interior and current wood trim is cracked all over the place.
@@M539Restorations loved Vavona in my E39, it's darker and more elegant in my opinion 😊
Nearly 70 years old.......always loved OCD.... nothing better, BMW OCD and this guy.....E46 IS REALLY COMFORTABLE THOUGH!!!
This channel has inspired me to start working on my car. I have a mk6 gti (insert memes here) but over the weekend i changed the oil did the filters and did spark plugs and coil pack upgrade. Gotta start small but was so satisfying doing it myself and not screwing up!
I can highly recommend Eton speakers for the E39! You won't get spine-shattering sub-bass from it but together with a small amp pretty decent sound! And it all looks original!
What a great episode ❤️
I agree with you, E39 Touring is a great car, love mine (an '02 525D Titanium Silver with 270.000Km, just did a major refresh with all new struts and supports, new water pump/fan clutch/thermostat/EGR thermostat/belts/idler pulleys/alternator and a brand new AUX fan. Was driving fine before and now it's driving even better!).
Autobahn and country lanes. You live the dream. Thank you.
I had an E39 525tds 10 years ago. Replaced the shocks, brakes and fixed the damn trunk-struts. That car was a joy to drive. It just felt planted and stable.
Thank you, that was great fun. Always learning with you. When watchmakers remove hands they often place a ziplock bag over the top and use a pair of curved levers: the pair of levers keeps the forces balanced and the two layers of the ziplock bag slip over each other without marring the surface.
That instrument cluster looks great! I think the gauge rings level it up! Props for having the patience to refurb those electronic parts. It really is satisfying when it comes back to life and is working properly after all your efforts.
Its amazing the amount of patience this guy has !!
"CAAAMING UP is the best sentence to my ears! Great job Sreten!
Amazing episode!! Thank you Sreten for all the amazing content. I can’t wait to find an E39 to restore!!
There are plenty on the internet. 😉
Nice to see you working again 🙃 I bought myself a 540i e39 8 days ago. Since I'm on vacation it has to wait, but I can't wait to start wrenching on it and get it trough the tüv inspection 😊
I watch your content to learn. I didn't think tutorials on how to fix old bimmers can be entertaining too. Your commentary and side remarks really elevate your videos. Keep them coming.
Well, maybe that because I have the same one with M-pack. But I couldn’t agree more with you. E39 are true classics that deserve to be preserve. Here’s one more saved. Nice job as usual !
Amazing attention to detail, as always. This is the gold standard when sorting out all the little issues that need to be done right when recommissioning any older car. When I do these sorts of projects on my own E90, I try to keep up to Sreten's standards!
I have a 2001 E39 Touring and started watching your channel because it had heaps of great info and tips about BMWs. I'm so glad you now have the same thing as me and you enjoy it so much! Thanks to you and 50sKid I have done most of the things you've done to Project Rottweil, however next for me is full suspension overhaul. Seeing you do it first has been great, lots of little tips and info to get the job done. Appreciate the info on the B6s too. I can't wait to see how the supercharger goes! Cheers from Tasmania, Australia.
Gotta luv that 50's Kid too!
I have a 530i e39 2002 m pack for 5 years , its a wonderful car that I don’t want to sell, I wanna drive it every day, and it looks brilliant. Thank you for such a beautiful video , totally appreciate it 👍👍👍🫡
SRETEN is a Pleasure to Watch. Well worth waiting for! Easter Eggs for everyone!
man, its 2am, but this is motivating me so much on getting the cars in my shop done tomorrow, I'm in the process of restoring a neglected 323ci auto by swaping in a full 325i manual conversion, and have so many other cars in the back burmer, seeing your work is so amazing sreten, thank you for the content, and thank you for saving these cars that trully deserve another chance at being on the road.
What a great car! Watched the whole video and didn't even realize it was an hour and a half long. I can't wait to see the end result after the paint is all taken care of.
I don't even like BMWs but as a fellow mechanic your attention to detail and work ethic is impressive, I feel like I could restore one of these girls now haha
The best automotive channel on RUclips! Sreten you are a star!
Love your videos and your attention to detail.
I have an e34 540i/6 Touring that is a mess but each time I watch one of your videos it gives me the confidence to tackle more jobs so I’m a way you’ve saved another BMW😀
Great work, Sreten! Love this car. It's definitely worth your immense efforts. Don't forget to update the navigation unit, too!
It's so calming to watch your content, so blissfully satisfying, thank you for putting the immense amount of hard work behind the scenes, the certain hours of frustration and likely sleepless nights. This content is pure gold!
Vice Grip Garage with its Derek has a similar effect too. 🤔
I really love all BMW touring models, even the old E30 Touring looks fresh.
Always enough time to watch a new episode from m539
Mnogo mi se sviđa što radiš detaljno i pažljivo! Svaka ti čast brate, držiš pažnju, ovih 1:22 je prošlo čas. Srećni praznici i puno zdravlja i uspeha.
I love that you work alone... U have patience and I love your MASCOT!!
Tip , when you buy new wiper mechanisms, take the pivots out and add more grease before you fit them, they often come with minimum grease from the factory and then as soon as water gets in ( it always does) they start to rust and sieze up.
Episodes with Mutzi are the best :D Love your content, keep 'em coming!
Loving your enthusiasm & talking your way through problems, great job 👍
I appreciate You Tubers that have a healthy dose of OCD, like you, and others like Sarah n Tuned. Many You Tubers are frustrating to watch, they get the job done, but their methods are so 'bull in a china shop'. They don't sweat the details, and only care care about pumping out 'content'.
Streten, hi from the UK. Not watched a minute of the Kings coronation today but goddamn not missed one minute of The Kings restoration of this beast! Stay frosty.
Plates are a nice touch! Hope you enjoy this car for many years to come
Thanks so much for this long-play episode. Super inspiring!
I absolutely LOVE how Sreten will attempt to fix/repair anything, even something like the folding mirrors which are not meant to be serviced. HE FINDS A WAY!
Congrats, Sreten!
Remember how Chris Bangle was criticized in the early 2000‘s for his designs?
How stunning modern they look in 2023.
Todos tus trabajos son impresionantes pero lo que has hecho con la radio y el velocímetro me han dejado helado, eres único trabajando,más fino que el coral👏🏻
I see the supervisor is back. Keeping you working, no slacking off on this channel 😂
How can you be so crafty and be an OEM snob at the same time? Questions for the universe!
MOOOIN AUS HAMBUUUIIICHHH! ⚓️🛳️
Einer der wenigen Channel in Deutschland, auf die man sich immer wieder freut!
Thanks Sreten!
The one and only channel on YT who's videos over 1h I even consider watching. My gosh Sreten, the work you do is beyond impressive. These cars deserve the best treatment. Hoping to own one one day! Your videos will be of utmost use when restoring it. Can't thank you enough for making us, your subscribers, dream of one day experiencing that feeling you had in that driver's seat on the Autobahn!
I think this is one of best episodes you have ever made. I got the same car but it's got the m-sport package and been repairing that so i can sell it and buy a new motorcycle. You got me thinking that maybe i should keep that car for good.
another masterpiece. respect for keeping a steady hand with all the finicky electronics on this beast.
I love watching you bring back neglect BMWs and the passion you have for them, and you are correct in saying that "if you see any old car, fix it up!".
About 3 years ago, I picked up a 1992 Acura Legend LS Sedan, or in Europe, it would be a Honda Legend with less than 55,000 original miles on it.
It is a Geneva Green Pearl (Dark Green) with an Ivory leather interior and not one single crack in the seats!
I wish I could post a picture of her, but youtube will not allow me to. 😞
My family and I enjoy taking her on day trips and back curve roads.😊
Keep up the good work, and I look forward to your next video. 🤗
These videos are a labor of love. Love watching them and keep up the great work
By far my favourite RUclips channel.
Inspired me to do many of repairs to my e61. Very satisfying working through all the little faults and slowly getting it back to an enjoyable condition.
I probably always think this way but “this is the best video so far”. The e39, I owned one in my twenties, is my favorite car in the world and my dream car is an e39 M5 (drove one when I was 20 years of age and instantly fell in love).
Man I fancy having one in the garage again but with 2 children and limited space this is a challenge. I don’t want to own a car which will sit in the rain or bad weather. I’d chose an e39 m5 over any other car, period.
It is a joy watching your stuff Sreten, huge congrats!
A trick I learned from the youtuber 'the nekked watchmaker' regarding removal of dials. If you use cling wrap around the dial it protects the face and the dial from scratches. Amazing as always!
Can’t wait to see you tackle the manual conversion. Awesome video as always
M539 restoration videos are like a drug addiction, if a new episode takes more than a week to come out, I start to struggle
Repair surgery on the 16:9 navigation screen, done by the Wizard of BMWs? Yes please! Amazing job man.
The details about fixing the LCD display was insane ! True quality content 👌
Sreten gonna own all 539 plates in Frankfurt at some point😂
That old school grey car Sreten called an "Old Jag" at @1:20:07 is not an old jag, it's an old Mitsuoka Viewt from around 1996. Mitsuoka is a small old Japanese car company that are known for making unconventional special looking cars that are influenced by old school retro British styled cars :)
nope, it is really an old Jag, as can be seen quite easily by the historic H at the end of the cars license plate 🤓
Every time you upload a video I spend days wishing I lived in Germany so I could buy a car that you've worked on! Fine work, sir. Fine work indeed.
I’ve been an Avant, touring, estate car guy even before I owned a B6 A4 Avant. I miss that ride so much. Great job brother!!
I love the transformation so far. It would be great if you could sum up the expenses once you are done
this makes miss mine every time, such nostalgia watching you do repair the things I had to do on mine, I had to drill through my mirror bolts lol, they were completely corroded. I had the rear wiper motor running again just cleaning and lubing it up. Attaching the speedometer rings, cutting the bumper for a decent exhaust tip lol, miss it so much. For most people it's just an old BMW, but for me this car has a special place in my heart, E39 has that true BMW soul in it, no newer BMW-s do it for me any more.
