Fibroid Belly: Why Is My Belly Enlarged?

- Опубликовано: 2 окт 2024
- Fibroids are often asymptomatic but overtime these tumors will grow. The larger these fibroids become, the more likely they will cause symptoms.
Fibroids can grow to the size of a melon. Therefore, women with fibroids often ask whether the fibroids will cause them to gain weight.

I've just found out today that I have Fibroids. This video has really helped me to understand why my belly was so big. Thanks
I recently had a hysterectomy keeping my ovaries because of Fibroids and polyps. I noticed right after the surgery my face had completely changed. All of the bloating all over my entire body went away. I could see it mostly in my face. My lips and eyes appeared bigger because of how much of the bloating had reduced. Do fibroids cause your whole body to swell is that common. I have not heard much about this and I am wondering why.
I'm having a hysterectomy on Tuesday. My Uterus is GIANT!!! I'm measuring 5-6months pregnant. I'm swollen all over also. My whole body hurts. You really gave me hope ❤️
Thank you for this video. I found out I had fibroids years ago, but my doctor didn't feel the need to operate...that was over a decade ago and now I lundersrand why my belly is so big.
I am very appreciative of this channel. Thank you for your work !! God bless you sir
Thanks for the kind words. Please tell others about our channel !
Accurate, I have been dealing with fibroids for so many years! I had them removed 2 surgeries & they are back again fierce! The docs say about the size of a 3.5 month old fetus he is correct as well as those symptoms! Also lower back pain & pressure & passing of blood clots and bleeding twice a month sometimes!
Theyre not back, they never left! Those fibroids are the ones the surgeon didnt remove on the first myomectomy. They start growing immediately and usually within 5 yrs she’ll need another procedure. Now that you have had 2 myomectomies, if the symptons return, please consider UFE. Learn more at ATLii.com

I’m 2 weeks after surgery my biggest one was size of tennis ball was growing from my cervix towards my back, was so painful… I looked 9 months + pregnant, it’s slowly slowing going down, but why does it bloat up again.. i guess it takes time for your insides to heal, especially as fibroid had been growing and pushing my internal organs about.. Thanks for your videos, very informative ❤
Hi how are you feeling a month later? And the swelling/ bloating?
My uterus is ten weeks size with five golf ball size fibroids. I have very heavy bleeding with large clots and painful cramps. They have me taking iron pills. The cramps are the worse
Dr. Lipman I still have regular periods and I will be 53 in a week!
why won't they leave?
This really sucks because I was looking forward to menopause by age 50!
I have had heavy bleeding for years due to 3 fibroids and the largest is now 14cm which has caused an enlarged uterus as well.
At 50 I should have had them removed but I was waiting to see if menopause would kick in but that never happened sad to say.
I have never had cramps or pain of any sort so menstrual cycles come without warning and when they do it's a horror story.
Because of the enlarged uterus and who knows what else is going on in there... all needs to come out but preserve my ovaries. I have resorted to abdominal hysterectomy.
I cannot imagine waiting for menopause because it doesn't look as if it's coming anytime soon and by that time it reaches these fibroids will be the size of a watermelon!
Some women are in their late 50’s and still have heavy periods. You could consider a trial of Lupron (usu 3 months or a single 3 month “blast”). That will put you into menopause and while it will wear off in a younger woman, you might stay in menopause which would be fine.
@@Atlii yes, I will speak to my gynecologist.
Hopefully, anything at this point!
Periods be gone!
My doc said i possibly had a hernia, and my other symptoms were premenopausal. I pushed and she did a sonogram that showed i have a 14 cm fibroid.
Did you have surgery on your 14cm fibroud? My fibroid is the same size as yours. Did your belly go down after surgery?
@@annomaly751 no. I went in to schedule surgery and was also diagnosed with a massive blood clot in my leg. So i can't have the surgery until that is gone. They put me on blood thinners for the clot and it's made my fibroid issues much, much worse. I just hope the fibroid doesn't get larger while I'm waiting to have surgery.
Are you having surgery? My fibroid is in uterus, which stretches it out to about the size of being 4 -5 months pregnant. I'm really hoping stomach pooch size goes down.
@@a.humphries8678 I am going through the same thing too with the blood clot in my leg, blood thinner, and fibroids. Did your cycle get worse while on the blood thinner? I also have to wait before a procedure.
@@SR-yc5ee it got so much worse. Shorter, but worse. For 2 days i cant leave the house. I have to get up in the night and shower because it's such a mess. It's like my body squeezes everything out in 2 days what should take 7 days...
I had to run errands, thought I'd be ok for an hour, my pants and seat were soaked with blood by the time i made it home. Soaked. I almost need a diaper...
Has your experience in blood thinner changed things?
Hello Ladies. I found out that my fibroid is the size of a grapefruit and it's pushing against my womb. I'm waiting to see if I am going to have surgery to remove. I hope you manage to get yours sorted. Take Care
I have been diagnosed with a 34 week uterus fibroid .. lord help me .. I have been booked to have a hysterectomy very soon .
I’m praying for you not sure if you had surgery yet. But I pray everything went well I also have to get surgery I look as if I’m 7 months pregnant. Just afraid to have surgery but it’s weighing me down to the point. I can barley do certain activities and I’m a very active person normally.

So am I. In May, just a few days after my birthday, and I'm not far from your age. But I don't know if I should do it.
@exposed.algeriansatanicnar1565 Why don't you do UFE?
Current situation. I had fibroids removed when I was in my 30’s. I’m 46, and they have unfortunately returned along with the bloated belly 😣
Hi ladies i had an embolisation to shrink mine but they are worst now than before .uterus is now size of a 5 months pregnancy.i really do not want a hysterectomy but i keep hearing that a myomectomy the fibroids grow back 🤦♂️ strange thing is i dont have bleeding problem never had i hardly bleed just very swollen tummy and other weird symptoms drs cant solve so am sure its the fibroids causing it.🤷♂️
Did you have it through your femoral or radial artery?
I’m sorry & I wish them fibroids gone! I have submucosal fibroids they’re different types. I believe those are the worse due to where they grow. I had a myomectomy & they are indeed back. First time I went under they went in through my vagina maybe in 2014/15…the fluid they use to see inside of the uterus etc was not able to hold because they punctured something in me so I woke up 4hrs later nothing removed.
I was like what????
Returned years later they went in through my belly button & a few tiny incisions on my abdomen/lower belly success. Periods lightened, stomach went down/ no crazy pain anymore. I also was able to get pregnant. I had not been able to. I have two children 22&23 yrs old though. This all happened in 2018 when I the last surgery.
I was able to get pregnant but I lost the baby at 3 months was not able to menstruate for 7 or so months.
I chose to let whatever pass naturally & it took as if it was basically a full term pregnancy time to clear.
Never the less I am here now having issues and thinking what now….
My sister took Lupron and was able to conceive two children/ she is older than me I am 43 and had same issues with fibroids…. I am not sure what type she had also her fertility details that also plays a part etc….
I know not every woman’s body & med history is the same.
I believe Lupron is a medication that puts you into premenopausal state that suppresses etc something with estrogen/hormones if you’re trying to get pregnant. I’m not sure but I just wanted to share that.
Also, I am not trying to conceive… I went into detail because that was a part of my journey for many years.
Now I just want these suckers gone to stop all the crazy symptoms! Blessings

How do they determine you have fibroids? Does ultrasound show it?
Yes. They can be felt on physical exam and then the next step is typically confirming this with a pelvic ultrasound.

Hello Dr. Lipman, can the uterus shrink back to normal after a Myomectomy ?
It might. Usually, there are a lot more fibroids in the uterus then can be removed surgically. They typically try to remove the bigger ones, but typically there are still living fibroids in the uterus after a myomectomy. This often causes a recurrence of symptoms when the smaller fibroids grow up to become big ones. It's one of many benefits of the UFE procedure over myomectomy.
It shrinks back to normal but the fibroids develop back. Thats my current situation
Chris & Ty Cox - Slots ...Mine to! I had a Myomectomy almost one year ago to this day & sometime I wish I’d just had a hysterectomy however just Incase I decided to try & possibly have another child I didn’t want to have a complete hysterectomy. I kind of feel like my symptoms are trying to reoccur. I’ve recently switched my diet up & that seems to help some so we shall see, but it can be very frustrating to deal with.
G3N3LL3 N. That’s the exact reason why I chose not to have a hysterectomy, to possibly plan a pregnancy; I may consider it after menopause.

Will birth control pills shrink fibroids
They will lighten the period, but they actually stimulate fibroids to grow (due to added estrogen).

You are a very good doctor. But do you remove them?
Thanks for the kind words. The fibroids are not surgically removed, but are knocked out and no longer able to cause symptoms. The fibroids are dead just like when a woman is in menopause. In both situations, the fibroids are physically present but unable to cause any symptoms. The procedure to kill the fibroids without any surgery is called Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE). Please help! I have a burning question. I was diagnosed with 6 fibroids last year. The largest one was 10cm×9cm.
A few months ago, I came across a lady who used a holistic approach to treat her fibroids. She said it helped to shrink them significantly. I have been applying her methods for about 4-5 months now.
At first, I noticed an improvement with the discomfort of my abdomen, but more recently, over last couple of months, I have noticed that I have started retaining an insane amount of water in my belly. I will store this water up for weeks on end. It is terribly uncomfortable and feels as though my belly is going to burst at times, and it makes me look 6 months pregnant. When my body decides to expel all of this water, I am usually 7lb lighter than before expulsion!!! That's how much water I'll retain. During expulsion, the urine is always completely clear too. It's as if I have poured water into the toilet. This has happened a few times. I have however noticed that with each period I've had over the last 3 months or so, they're becoming lighter. I used to bleed for 8 to 9 days and end up soaking sanitary towels to the point I was teetering on anaemia. Now I only bleed for 3 to 5 days, and my periods are not alarmingly heavy like they were before. Do you have any idea what could be going on? I was thinking that the fibroids could be degenerating, but I don't know.
With dietary modifications (exs. decrease/avoid hormone-rich foods: [red meat, non-organic chicken, dairy], increase colored fruits/veggies), exercise (to lose body fat which stores/produces estrogen), and supplement (achieve adequate vitamin D level, green tea extract) you can significantly improve your fibroid symptoms.
@@Atlii ..I have been implementing all the things you have listed, but I really wanted to know why I have suddenly started storing up an abnormal amount of water in my belly, even though my periods are getting lighter.
@@The_torero maybe a liver issue? Did you find out what was going on?
@@kokoniqueful ...No, unfortunately. I had a scan in November, but I have not had any feedback because of the backlog due to the pandemic. The water retention in my belly has improved, and my last period, which ended a few days ago was one of my lightest yet. I wasnt as alarmed by the amount of blood I lost this time. I don't think there is an issue with my liver though.
