I’ve used a box-end wrench, around 1/2” , and slid it over those tabs to flex them in and remove the E-brake cables. You still have to work it but it’s faster than stabbing the tabs with a screwdriver.
if you dont have a press, could also free your carrier, most deep freezes goto -22 c and/or bake your bearings in anoven on min setting with that combo its should/could drop on
I’m trying to ask. This rearend. Looks like mine. I’m having trouble one axle bad 26 spline 29 5/8 inch 10bolt 7.5. I can’t find axle can I use all this for mine
Theoretically they could bolt right in, as long as the spring perches were the same. I couldn't find any viable candidates in my area, hence rebuilding the 7.5.
Hi Rick thanks for the video hope all goes well. Do you have the part numbers for the Carrier and gear set ?

Great job
How long did that setup last
I watched a video where a guy used zip ties on the E brake retention tangs. Worked well
Oh nice, I'll have to remember that if I do this again.
@@nickbreaksstuff4115 hose clamp works good as well

What was you pinion depth?
IF MY 84 CUTLASS rearend with open diff rotates one wheel about 2.25 times for every driveshaft rotation, about what ratio is that?
prolly a 2.41 to 1
The correct way is to count all ring gear teeth / divided by all pinion gear teeth.
@@MajorHoss im trying to go with the IF IT AINT BROKE, DONT FIX IT thesis.
@@MajorHoss mine is a 2.41 to 1 ratio per the stamped #s in the ring gear although I just googled and there was a 2.29 to 1 ratio in some G bodies .
So, no case spreader needed??
Awesome video!
Watched this video to see him install the gears in the rear end and he skipped it wtf
What gear ratio did u go with. Do u remember the engine rpm at 50mph with the 3 speed
Go to gear rpm calculator if your curious. A th350 is 1:1 ratio in 3rd gear
Good vid , faster nova ...whats not to like ?
What year car
I thought those Nova's had 8.5 in rear axles in them. We had a 76 Nova. It had an 8.5 in it.
Most only had the 7.5 from what I've been able to find
You can swap an 8.5 in easy
Most small block cars tear the 7.5 apart in a hurry and people bolt an 8.5 in
Theoretically they could bolt right in, as long as the spring perches were the same. I couldn't find any viable candidates in my area, hence rebuilding the 7.5.
Awsm!
Not instructional at all...
Yikes
Crummy video
Says the old pale guy with saggy tits. Move on
yes to have all those parts off begging to be cleaned and a fresh coat of paint applied it would almost be criminal not to do so!
New carrier new gears no measuring the crush washer shining nothing
