I've listened to this so much last night, I know it today. Bless these sellers. Glory to God, to hear that trumpet.

I FEEL IN LOVE WITH THE KINGSMEN IN THE 70S W/old 8 track player with the live album with Thoz 2, Ernie n Ray doing "old ship of Zion"- Tenor- (Ernie Phillips) Lead(Big Jim Hamill,); Baritone(Mr Squire Parsons); Bass(The Dean of the Bass singers, Who else but, Mr Ray Dean Reese!!! )-- The KINGSMEN in my opinion were the 1st GROUP w/the sky high tenor to slide up, and the bass to slide down, Then the lead and Baritone just come in whenever, and hold out the notes as long as they could, till the bass n tenor got through sliding!!!! And, the Kingsmen instituted the interaction among the singers on stage-- (Cheering one another on!!!!) Many groups do it today- but it originated with The Mighty Kingsmen!!! To me, How a true SG Quartet works a stage, blesses a crowd, and is supposed to sound! If they're not enjoying it, the audience wont!!!

I could never wait to see them. They would come to our church from time to time and also we would go see them at any gospel show around our area! I loved Ernie Phillips so much. Just loved that tenor voice. And how could you not just love brother Jim? Impossible. He was a great man! Squire too as you mentioned was fantastic...what a great song writer. When he left to go on his own I broke down in tears! I have far too many wonderful memories with this group to even begin mentioning. Jim was always teasing me about something or other and I miss him horribly!! God Bless you! Thanks for the memories

Great song, and great singing. Just wish the crowd watching them would've been more lively and involved.

+George Ronald Anderson Jr. He's still pretty amazing isn't he? He just bowls me over hitting those high notes. His son Eric is just as good as Ernie but Eric isn't singing professionally right now. Great tenors, both of them.
