It's so awesome to see them. I was brought up on these guys! My mother did nothing but listen to gospel.....thank you Momma! I love it to this day! What fun it was to be right there and feel that excitement in the room and the love for our Lord!
Chris Jenkins you have always let your light shine for the Lord in school and out wherever you were and it even shines brighter today. You bless me with your anointed singing. Love you special! DEBBIE Bates, Janelles Mom.
I so well remember the Kinsmen thru the years and have enjoyed the sweet memories these u tube videos have brought to me,the joyous reunions in Heaven will surely be wonderful,Reagan Riddle,Primitive Qt.
I was blessed. I spent my summers going to gospel conventions and sings with my dad....I got to see them all....kingsman cathedrals stamps...hopper brothers singing echoes.....all that great harmony! Thank you Jesus and thank you daddy!
Oh yeah....the trainwreck that was the Kingsmen! Ray and the youngsters are STILL doing an awesome job in 2021. But that old travelling circus with Big Jim as the ringmaster was something out of this world. They had a lot of fun, and, most importantly, shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a LOT of people. Just as great to see and hear it all of these years later!!!
my name is France's Ann pack. I remember growing up on all the kinsman gospel group from the age of 5 years old and now I'm 55 years old and I still love all of the kinsman gospel group.
I loved...loved ...loved the Kingsmen back when Johnny Parrack was the first tenor. That 'Big and Live' recording is one of the all-time best in gospel music!
Yeah, but Ernie Phillips, particularly with Jim on the Live Naturally album when he hits that super high note at the end of; Love Lifted Me is just an unreal tenor singer, hitting an unbelieveable note!!!
my name is France's Ann pack. I remember growing up on all the kingsmen gospel group from the age of 5 years old and now I'm 55 years old and I still love all of the kingsman gospel group.
Frances, I am older than you are (confession!!!), and I can remember the "all night sings." I can also remember when on Sunday mornings that tv would have Christian groups singing. I miss all of that. Blessings to you.
Hello @Frances my name is Penny, I love The Kingsmen 2, long time ago in Marianna Florida; @ a Baptist Church they had The Kingsmen and boy they were so good, I remember the song they sang to it was, "What I Found At The Altar," and I got me a CD & I love them too.
Mark Trammel was with mthe Kingsmen, the Cathedrals and Gold City. Now his group! There is no other person who has been in the top groups like that! Mark is great!
When they did this song on Big and Live, Nick Bruno was at the piano. I remember them from the NQC in 1973. They came on with this song at about 2AM and woke the place up in good shape. Later inn the same set they were joined onstage by the Speer Family.for "The Dearest Friend I Ever Had." Ah, memories...it's all I have left and the only time I ever saw the Kingsmen live. Not much Southern Gospel going on in New England.
Fox refers to 'Big and Live', that album is full of Kingsmen classics; I posted elsewhere that it is still one of the best Live albums in SG history.....
Newtz2000 and William Wilson. Just an FYI so you guys feathers aren't so ruffled. First, I'm Eldridge's daughter and was at all the reunions. This particular video was in Kentucky at Quartet Convention. However they also sang and filmed this for the Asheville concert. Also Rueben Penner, this was in September of 1996, the Asheville concert was Nov 9, 1996 ten days before Dads stroke that kept him from singing and traveling anymore. Hope the correct info on this helped. Y'all have a blessed day thanks for loving my family and brothers in Christ all those years.
Terri Fox - Hi Terri. Pleasure to meet you! I got to sit down with your dad in the Kingsmen booth at NQC 95 and we chatted a while. He enjoyed listening to me talk as I am from New Zealand and travelled over for the event. He gave me Georgia Live on VHS, plus the Reunion tshirt. I would add a pic if I could. Will always remember it! God bless.
what was the baritone/owner going to do if when he asked jim do you know what to do with it and jim says no............? yeah i'm not right in the head............ but it's a valid question
newtz2000. i have the honor of knowing the kingsmen personally. own every record, cd, tape, and dvd. Believe me when i say it was NOT recorded at The NQC. They may have done an encore there but this was not recorded there.
William Wilson I am sitting in the middle of the shot at 2:30 and can show you the Tshirt I bought commemorating the reunion at the NQC. No disrespect, but you are incorrect on this.
William Wilson this was actually the version done at The Expo center in Louisville KY at Convention although they did and recorded it again in Asheville for perfecting the crown video was
so when the band occasioanlly got to sing on a song did they get paid more for those? it appears almost every member of the band except the drummer (maybe) could sing (dont' know if the drummers could just don't remember seeing it ona video
Who is the guy with the mustache? Not Big Jim, but that other guy. When I'm right I recognize him from the Gaither Homecoming. Only then he was in a wheelchair.
+tickle fan Jay Parack not Jason Parrack, and he has his own group now a trio called Vocal Event, since RUclips doesn't allow links in comments, search for Jay Parrack and Vocal Event, they are good.
I love the Kingsmen but I've liked other tenors more that the group has had. Just can't take a tenor screaming to attempt to reach a high note. Love fellow West Virginian Squire Parsons. Wonderful man.

Now this is how Southern gospel music is supposed to be sung
Really wished I could have grown up with these people & music!!!! I was conservative East coast, but this music is from home!!
I was blessed. I spent my summers going to gospel conventions and sings with my dad....I got to see them all....kingsman cathedrals stamps...hopper brothers singing echoes.....all that great harmony!
