My grandma told her daughter she wanted this sung at her funeral when she passed away. She passed away will be 21 years on January 4th. She had a Stroke on Christmas Day 2001. It of course this time I think of her during this time every year. She loved this song. Amazing I ran across it listening to other Southern Gospel newer songs. I love hearing the tenor singing in this song! Miss you & love you Mamaw... ❤️
I don't care what people says about good ole gospel songs they are the best because God is the Almighty King of all Kings. The singers that we hear are good. All singers that sing for God.
WOW! What a song! What a pleasure to see all the members singing acapella. Everyone had such a great tone, especially one of my favorite bass singers, Ray Reese. This song needs to be sung at church. I had a "Well Glory!" moment.
I Love to hear The Kingsman Quartet sing. I heard a song they sung so many years ago , that I loved that was so special to me. I've never heard it again , but would love to.
Hard to believe it, but he's at least 82-83 years old, & still going strong! He's owned The Kingsmen Quartet for 20 years now, since "Foxy", Eldridge Fox, passed away, back in 2001. After Mr. Fox's death, The Kingsmen Quartet had to sell the name "The Kingsmen Quartet" to a Mr. Burke, so they could obtain funds, in order to keep the group going. From 2002-2004, or so, they were known as The Carolina Boys. However, when they released an Album that had a song on it, entitled "God sits on high", suddenly The Carolina Boys had a big hit with that song, and were able to buy back The Kingsmen Quartet name from Mr. Burke! To this day, The Kingsmen Quartet continue to operate, and put out great songs that not only do well on the Southern Gospel Music Charts, but that bless people, through and through.
To me these Guys did a perfect job singing this song,I've heard this song several times by differeent groups and the Kingsman did a perfect job, this one to me is the best one ever or I think so....
This reminds me of yesterday. When I was young and listening to brother Mead song this. Everyone is gone now and I'm waiting on that ship myself. One day there'll be no more crying, pain, hunger or war. It'll be perfect peace for eternity. If you'll have Jesus, then I'll see you to there. Don't choose an eternity in hell, Jesus died for you, don't choose an eternity of living death were the spirit dieth not with unspeakable torment. It's your choice.
i love this song so much i would love this song played at my wedding to this is my favorite song by the Kingsmen they are so good i love them so much!!!!!!!!
Who are you referring to? If you're talking about the Bass Singer, that's Mr. Ray Dean Reese. Also: Respectfully speaking, if you're referring to J. D. Sumner, he never sang Bass in the Kingsmen Quartet. He was associated with such acts as The Sunshine Boys, the Blackwood Brothers, J. D. Sumner and the Stamps, and The Master's Five, as well as doing Solo Albums.
That's back when everyone served the lord and sang for the lord! Now days pretty much all about the money and not what it truly stands for is serving the lord. Yes alot of great singers now days but you dont hear concerts screaming and rejoicing the lord like you did back then with the kingsman because the singers arnt truly singing for all the right reasons.
"Good stuff will always be good stuff." This great old sing, telling us all about that mighty, timeless ship...and it's MOST HOLY CAPTAIN, MY SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST, sailing in to one day pick me up and take me home to Heaven.....WILL ALWAYS BE GREAT STUFF!!!!!
Isa 65:14-19 Behold, MY servants shall sing for joy of heart, And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. Thanking our Savior for the precious Kingsmen!
Awesome everytime I hear it Gary Shepherd Ray Dean Reese and the Kingsmen harmony were the best That song is a blessing I play it very often A look into the future for a Christianity
I was standing on the banks of the river Looking out over life’s troubled sea When I saw that ole ship that was sailing Is that the ole ship of Zion I see. Its hull was bent and battered From the storms of life I could see Waves were rough but that ole ship kept sailing Is that the ole ship of Zion I see. At the stern of the ship stood the captain I could hear as he called out my name Get on board it’s the ole ship of Zion It will never pass this way again As I step on board I’ll be leaving All my sorrows and heartaches behind I’ll be safe with Jesus the captain Sailing out on the ole ship of Zion.
I totaly love all their voices. The bass man hits those notes effortlessly. I just wish he wasn't so boastful and prideful by dragging the ending notes of each lyric so sluggish and dragging them on like that. Other wise this video is perfect! Again I love the bass dude
Garry Shepard, Tim Surrett, Greg Fox, Gary Dillard, Anthony Burger, Parker Jonathan, Jim Hamill, Eldridge Fox, Ray Dean Reese There is some changing and rotating through the song, but that is the basic lineup.
Jeffrey Harris He has a pure, high tenor which is quite rare and prized by many directors. You might like a different sound and there are many groups with these kinds of tenors. I found all the birds sang the same song it would be sooo boring. It is the same in with the human voice.
2022 This is still one of the most beautiful gospel songs ever written

Probably my favorite Kingsmen song. Could somebody name the Kingsmen singing above (left to right?). Thank you.
Garry Shepard, Tim Surrett, Greg Fox, Gary Dillard, Anthony Burger, Parker Jonathan, Jim Hamill, Eldridge Fox, Ray Dean Reese
There is some changing and rotating through the song, but that is the basic lineup.
Who is the tenor?
Garry Sheppard
Who is that little baritone standing beside the guy in the hold jacket?
If you're talking about who is standing beside Eldridge Fox, that is the late Anthony Burger.
Who is the gentleman in the tan jacket
Eldridge Fox the long time baritone and owner
Who fit that tupe my goodness what was he thinking. Looks like his house cat is sitting on his head.
Make me want to shout.
Zach willams
Why in the world would a man want to sound like the guy singing tenor?
Jeffrey Harris He has a pure, high tenor which is quite rare and prized by many directors. You might like a different sound and there are many groups with these kinds of tenors. I found all the birds sang the same song it would be sooo boring. It is the same in with the human voice.
