I went to Reading high school with Lonnie back in 2015. He was a down to earth dude. Humble as hell. I remember him taking off from the free throw line IN GAME when he was 17. Everyone who saw him play back then knew he was gonna be special. But there is a lot more to his story then people know. The house he lived in had so many bullet holes in it that they stopped fixing them. There was at least 10 people living with him at that time. Reading is the poorest city in PA but every time he plays he makes the city proud!

I’m a very forgiving person, but this is always something I felt I couldn’t forgive if it happened to me. So when I see other who have dropped the weight, it’s very inspiring to me. He’s a great guy, if not player lol, but we here in San Antonio love the man. So glad he got paid by the lakers. As someone who lives near Reading I follow Lonnie and I'm pretty familiar with his story but I love watching these videos anyways because the guy deserves more recognition. Not just for his basketball game but for being strong enough to share the things he had to endure. It's never easy being vulnerable in the sports world and I hope younger athletes take note of his bravery and character. Lonnie is about the greatest guy you'll ever meet. Every offseason he comes home and does camps for the kids in his town. He'll then go to parks or recs and just play pick up games with whoever. Not to just show them up but to sincerely just have fun with the people in his community. The guy truly invests so much of his free time to helping others and doesn't expect the universe to give him anything in return.

Lonnie was never below average in SA. He was just too inconsistent for Pop to justify giving him the starting nod. We always loved what Lonnie did in SA. People say its what made sense for a rebuild, but... Lonnie is what, 24?? WHY COULDN"T WE KEEP HIM FOR THE REBUILD?? I think the Spurs got too trigger happy on not resigning him. Unfortunate for us Spurs fans cause right now, He would slot in PERFECTLY for what we need right now.

Happy to see this. He went to my high school. Although he was in 8th grade when I was senior. But I saw him practicing with the varsity team and there was a lot of hype with him coming up to high school and for good reason. I remember watching him doing his rim grazer dunks as an 8th grader lol. Now his the skywalker.
Now his on my favorite team. Our city is a very very rough place. Always good to see those of us that leave that place. I have cousins that know him.
Reading that post about his trauma was extremely upsetting. Especially when I was saw him at the age of 13 as a child.

Lonnie was one of my favorites here in SA. I got to meet him a couple of times, and the man was always humble. I wish the spurs would have kept him, but I also hope he gets a ring. Maybe after the rebuild we can get him back. With this guy the absolute best

I loved when the Spurs drafted and it was unfortunate that he didn’t really have consistency there but I’m happy to see him doing well. I’ll wear jersey once in awhile because he’s just that guy. Nothing but the best for him.

I am genuinely glad his story has a happy ending. I remember checking in on the Laker games stats and I kept thinking who is the Lonnie Walker guy and why is he putting up such great number. Glad things are turning around for this young man.

Nothing against you, but actually the Spurs didn't give up on Lonnie for other players. The Spurs gave Lonnie a qualifying offer that Lonnie asked the Spurs to take back and eventually signed with LA for the same amount of money. I think Lonnie wants a bigger role and a new environment, and LA with an aging Lebron and a lackluster supporting cast is a perfect place for Lonnie. His inconsistency at SA was likely why coach Pop didn't entrust him a starting role, but I think most Spurs fans genuinely thinks that Lonnie has the most superstar potential out of the bunch. Really happy that Lonnie benefitted from this change of scenery and is able to shine in LA.
