Notice that you have the Phoenix power in every fight shown. My guess is that the Dominant likely dies for you to take the power. My reasoning for that is that it looks like the kid, Joshua, might die early on. Which is the catalyst for revenge for the main character and the woman narrating (sorry don't know the names yet). Just some guesses! The game looks beyond amazing!
I would think that if there's anyone who could feasibly "come back to life" in some way, it would be Joshua through the power of the Phoenix. But chances are that he's not gonna be the same kid, and if the title motif shows a fully grown Phoenix vs Ifrit, I'm guessing that's gonna be the climactic battle, or one of them. I barely know anything about XVI and I'm already heartbroken. Is there going to be a way to save best boy? Yes, Joshua is already best boy, I'm gonna die on this hill.
I really like that they've gone with more mature lived-in heroes for this game. Some of the best FF's weren't shounen teen protagonists but instead war weary veterans, men and women with their loved ones or life long thieves struggling to survive. With the exception of one (?) character, everyone in this trailer has lived and suffered and achieved which makes their struggle against each other and the world mean more.
Agreed, I love the PS1 era FFs don't get me wrong, but it's so dang nice to see the series go back to the high/Western fantasy roots that you saw more often from the Super/Famicom era, but with more of a darker tone. And is it just me or will this be the first mainline that is rated M???? (I'm a little behind on the series so correct me if I'm wrong). Like that is crazy. SE is not fucking around this time and if they actually pull it off, I might give them some cred back again
I think Vaan , who can be considered a teenager was also a good protagonist , he is my favorite probably because my first FF was XII , so maybe i am biased in my opinion but I think all characters in that game were well written .
I sense that they put GOT,HOD,Romance of the Three Kingdoms, along with a little Spartacus Blood In The Sand, along with some history blended all together with a little love ❤️ as well as some more history and wallah we got this New Epic Master Piece and I can't wait for it to come out.

Sephiroth was inspired by the Seraphim. The Seraph. The Seraphim are six-winged “fiery” angels who surround God as He sits upon His exalted throne. A seraph is a type of celestial or heavenly being originating in Ancient Judaism. The term plays a role in subsequent Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Tradition places seraphim in the highest rank in Christian angelology and in the fifth rank of ten in the Jewish angelic hierarchy.

I'm just happy that they finally did something like this (and that it has a Mature rating, not Teen like FF7R NEEDED!) I've been floating the idea for years of having the main cast basically be avatars for the summons, though I'd envisioned something different from this (using crystals and being able to swap out sorta like GFs in 8) but in some ways this is even better, and I am happy to see what Yoshida is capable of when making something from the ground up because frankly, I'm becoming more and more dejected with 14, it just doesn't have the same lasting appeal 11 has (and there's a lot of factors involved in that but vertical progression is the biggest) And don't forget once again, the combat is being handled by the head of DMC V, so you know this is going to be top-tier action but in a much more fun and balanced manner rather than being a Souls-like (SoP). So goddamn hyped for this. The trailer also gives off major FF Tactics and Type 0 Vibes and I am here for it, for the love of God more of this please. It's way, WAY past time we started getting more MATURE rated Final Fantasy games, to cater to the audience that is all grown up now. Don't get me wrong, I love the classics, but a big part of why I still like 11 and 14 to this day is because their narratives tend to be more serious in nature and I wanna see more of that.
Might want to consider fixing the title of the video now, given that the final trailer *is* actually called "Ascension". This one, is titled "Ambition". Btw great job with the panel today and with the Atlas fight! You got so close!
I just hope that the eikon/dominant fights aren’t just purely emphasized as cinematic fights like FF15 did with their summon fights I hope there’s a good amount of challenge and difficulty so it feels like a grand boss fight
most likely The human/Eikon hybrid Fights will be serious boss fights while the eikons themselves will probably be more of set piece than boss fight. that's my prediction, but I am hopeful that the set pieces can still be engaging gameplay wise. it's really hard to make such a massive enemy a good boss fight in an action game with out feeling really goofy, or scripted.
I got fucking chills watching this. I can't wait for this to come out. Praying and hoping the story is more coherent than 15 because even though I enjoyed that game at launch, the story was way too convoluted. Also hoping for engaging gameplay. It looks amazing! Also did anyone else get Attack on Titan vibes? Especially the later half of the story with the whole discarding of the Eikon/Primal hosts?

Would make sense, though I've also seen the main character running around with various powers in gameplay moments. Looking forward to this one.
Yea this is basically Megaman where you get to steal Eikons and use Eikon Trigger and play DMC.
The first trailer shows Ifrit tearing something apart and another screaming Joshua’s name, pretty easy from that to say Ifrit kills Phoenix
@@tiffyw92 I love this idea! I think the story will blow us away. Can't wait!
This is one my favorite trailers for any game ever. It goes SO hard with the music and storytelling, constantly increasing in intensity. SO good!
I agree but with some exceptions, for example ff9, 10, and 12 had teen(or close to teen/young adult age) main characters that were good.
And then there's Cloud/Sephiroth, the most iconic duo... buncha edge lords lol
@@jynxycats dont forget Squall/Seifer
I was curious about this game and was like yea that’s a maybe but this trailer actually sold me. Very much looking forward to more updates to this game
back after finishing the game and this trailer was well WORTH THE HYPE!!!!
Can't wait to see bahamut, he has always been my favorite summon
He was shown in the second trailer. Look it up my dude, looks class.
His Dominant has a pretty cool design too
Anyone else notice the Eikon at the 6:34 mark looking down at the rest looks like Sephiroth's final form?
"I will never not be referenced in this series"
Sephiroth was inspired by the Seraphim. The Seraph.
The Seraphim are six-winged “fiery” angels who surround God as He sits upon His exalted throne.
A seraph is a type of celestial or heavenly being originating in Ancient Judaism. The term plays a role in subsequent Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Tradition places seraphim in the highest rank in Christian angelology and in the fifth rank of ten in the Jewish angelic hierarchy.
For me its like Ifrit and Phoenix has fused together.
Ultima or bahamut zero!
@@sevionus80 so... Ultima from FFT? Afaik Yoshida-san likes that game quite some and this game having a similiar vibe to it xD
In yoshiP and soken we Trust
really hope they deliver on the cinematic icon battles. You already got people on board, now they just need to keep the boat sailing.
It's "Ambition" btw
These reactions amp up the hype. I thought it looked cool before but Max makes me more hyped to play this. 😂😂😂
this trailer felt like watching a tragic play unfold, insane world building tbh.
That music goose hard. I absolutely love it
Goddamn when that battle music starts i can immediately feel adrenaline rushing through my veins as my hype grows with chills all over my body! Btw the trailers name is "Ambition" not Ascension :)
Started with FF3 back in the day....this gave me chills
The actual Final Fantasy 3 or Final Fantasy 6?
@@ChrisMS0815 I guess its 6 technically. Being born in 74 I am truly amazed at how far the graphics have become in modern day videogames.
@@AkinaSpeedStarsAE86 You are correct. FFIII US version in the 90's is technically FFVI today. gosh I feel old
imagine showing someone who just beat FF3(6) back in the day this lol
@@fordflor7665 Imagine the people who played the so called FF2(FF4) and FF3(FF6) back in the day and then out of no where FF7 gets announced and they are left wondering wtf happened to FF4-6?
Sick artstyle, swords and sorcery, knights and dragons..."war of the icons" it really feels like its Final Fantasy meets Highlander "There can be only one!"
YES! Exactly!
YoshiP, Soken, Koji Fox, and team know what they are doing, glad they have plenty of time to polish the game up to their crazy ass standards. If the game is anything like FF14's writing, Max is in for one hell of a ride.
Do we know if Ishikawa is involved in the writing of this game?
@@bLuGhOsT_ its being devleoped by dev studio 3 at SQEX so... might as well be, why exclude him? xD
@@bLuGhOsT_ heavensward writer 😌👍
@@bLuGhOsT_ ishikawa is on xiv at the mo shes doing msq story. I cqnnot wait for her to get a non xiv game to write.
@@bLuGhOsT_ lead story designer is Kazutoyo Meihiro, the one who wrote Heavensward MSQ. Someone needs to hold down the fort in XIV and Ishikawa was assigned for that. The timeline for XVI's development perfectly fits tho. XVI was a gift to CBU3 for the success of Heavensward. Kazutoyo Meihiro was reduced to just the Story Advisor for Stormblood(where the planning and drafting of the plot for XVI kicked off), In Shadowbringers and Endwalker, Meihiro completely disappeared from XIV and has been replaced by Ishikawa (I'm assuming this is where the development started but they only went full force during pandemic.)
This game is going to be awesome!! It feels like final fantasy going back to its original roots. Dark themed, and how evil the Imperial Army is.
I was hoping this wasn't a cinematic trailer but I will give credit where credit is due, this is a ten out of ten cinematic trailer for sure so not bad
I'm glad the fantasy part of FF is coming back.
Fantasy and SciFi have gone hand in hand since the first game. FF16 seems to be going pure fantasy making IT the outlier.
@@wooley2629 While that being true for the most part, some FF titles were more on the scifi side. At least the past few games in the mainline titles have focused heavily on futuristic scifi aspects. I just prefer when the scifi was dampened down.
@@Renkaru That's fair. I've had quite a few discussions with people about 16 and they all seem to think sci-fi is something new to the series and that older games were just fantasy.
@@wooley2629 you won’t know that until they bring aliens and time travel into the picture way later on into the story.
@@wooley2629 yeah I've been final fantasy for a long time, so I know there were always elements of it. Even my favorite, FF4 has airships and such. I'm not against scifi, I just welcome a new style and fresh look at FF.
Love your reactions to these Max!
I'm just happy that they finally did something like this (and that it has a Mature rating, not Teen like FF7R NEEDED!)
I've been floating the idea for years of having the main cast basically be avatars for the summons, though I'd envisioned something different from this (using crystals and being able to swap out sorta like GFs in 8) but in some ways this is even better, and I am happy to see what Yoshida is capable of when making something from the ground up because frankly, I'm becoming more and more dejected with 14, it just doesn't have the same lasting appeal 11 has (and there's a lot of factors involved in that but vertical progression is the biggest)
And don't forget once again, the combat is being handled by the head of DMC V, so you know this is going to be top-tier action but in a much more fun and balanced manner rather than being a Souls-like (SoP).
This feels like a Final Fantasy New Expansion tier trailer. Man, the buildup and vibe is exactly the same chills I get seeing those.
Best looking thing out of the final fantasy name I've seen in ages
Might want to consider fixing the title of the video now, given that the final trailer *is* actually called "Ascension". This one, is titled "Ambition".
Btw great job with the panel today and with the Atlas fight! You got so close!
it's basically the battles of the Jinchuriki, and I'm all for it. it's gonna be amazing to play
Yoshi P said in an almost year old interview depending on the Eikon used the battle would shift from bullet hell style, wrestling or kaiju like battles
@@1stclassdork578 ahh I see shivas prolly be more bullet hell style like ff7R
Soken about to go beast mode again. Music was lit!
Barnabas is goin to be my favorite character I already know
The phrase "Crownless Kings" is always so unbelievably cool.
These summons are basically like Attack On Titans.
I can't wait to see max playthrough for this game
It's looking like another great Final Fantasy game is on the horizon.
Combat being handled by the guy who designed Marvel vs Capcom 2. It's gonna be nuts.
He also did the combat for Devil May Cry 5 and Dragon's Dogma which has one of the more fun combat systems in any rpg
Soken doing the music on this one. It’s gonna be an amazing OST
Yup, I've been saying this since FF16 trailer where they can turn into Eikon
Clive vs Huga (Titan) is basically Eren vs Reiner
Yeah it's basically Game of Thrones x Attack on Titan. Which sounds amazing.
FF XIV writer is working on the story for this one so it will be more coherent and better than XV
I heard that they got the same person. That was in charge of Devil May Cry 5 combat. That’s why the fighting is so fast and sick.
Oh this finna be one of the best games ever made 👀👀
Yoshi be poppin off once again. This man can't be stopped.
Game of the year 2023.
I wonder if max saw in the partial fighting we did see "Gambit Counter"
This is a trailer that other companies would release like a week or two before the game came out. It really felt that way, and then I was reminded it comes out next year.
Yes, we all ascended.
I get FFT vibes from this, music-wise too :)
"War of eikons." Genuinely gave me chills too
Square went full Platinum games with this Final Fantasy
The complete opposite of FF then.
@@kclink1579 In what way? Final Fantasy has always really been about changing formulars. Since 9 they have massively changed everything for each game.
They did this to compete with DQ which was more popular in Japan at the time and DQ doesn't change much with each series at all.
@@kclink1579 Eeeer not really but keep telling yourself that
@@kclink1579 FF needs to get back to its roots.
@@kclink1579 Or just the opposite of what you want. Newsflash you and all the other grown ass babies don't decide what it and isn't FF just because you played the earlier games back when you were a kid.
I was already sold on this game before but this "ambition" trailer (not ascension) got me more excited about this game.
FF16 looks so damn promising Summer 2023 can't come soon enough.
Seems like the characters are cursed like the tailed beast from Naruto, they can Eikon install and engage in DMC combat set in a Game of Thrones world, becoming stone also sounds like a L'Cie completing a Focus.
I'm going back to Final Fantasy !! This is 🔥🔥🔥
damn yoship you got crystal towers all over the place now. Allagans been doin some work
Did I just watch the best trailer for a video game I've ever seen?. Holy shit man. Loving the setting. And gore/serious tone. holy shit.
This is the Final Fantasy 15 They were trying to make.
I loved all the trailers. I couldn't be more hyped after the first and i'm still at max hype level.
The theme to this FF is very dark and mature. I'm all for it. I think it is the first time FF actually shows blood lol
I was already going to buy this game but holy shit it has my money EVEN HARDER
I can't say outside of souls games British people speaking in ye old English about vague world building details is my thing, but I do appreciate the the anime ass insanity of kingdoms backed by superbeings with the ability to transform into super powerful demons at will...very interesting indeed
We'll see a Clive-focused trailer near the release I'm sure of that. It'd be weird to release it right now as they need to build a strong foundation first and knowing CBU3, I'm pretty sure they will not show EVERYTHING on trailers.
Bois we are in for a treat.
And even the stuff they are showing is completely without context and the visuals aren't exactly lined up with what the voice over is saying. They love to throw in some red herrings in the patch and expansion trailers for XIV, so I have no doubt they're doing the same thing here.
Final Fantasy 6 vibes. I didn't even completed FF7 on psx back then. I might play another final fantasy after almost 3 decades. Looking forward to this.
Titan shifters in FF; neat.
I just noticed this is basically FF Jinchuuriki(Naruto)
Music going so Intense
Soken is amazing.
I feel like the titan and the mc will have the most intense battle.(maybe a sad onr aswell)
Yes, more max reacts
2023 is going to be a great year
ff + max react = HEAVEN😎😃
Max, I think you mislabeled this trailer. I believe this is the Ambition trailer, not the Ascension trailer. :)
LETS GOOOO
Final Fantasy + Game of Thrones + Devil May Cry
Man I'm excited
Seen enough for sure, Capcom and Square 🔥hope to see other Studios join in on the good releases
Holy crap, this is insane. Been playing since og nintendo. FF has come sooo far. Cant wait to explore this new world and find every secret and the hidden bosses!
I cant wait for the reviews on this, I am very mixed in terms of this DMC like combat but the more mature themes are appealing indeed
The guy who is Titan... his voice very much reminds me of Xemnas from Kingdom Hearts
