This game looks like what childhood dreams couldn't even begin to scratch. The level of mind blowing and stunning
This is basically what people wanted out FF after Advent Children. The spectacle and polish is kinda insane
@@Dasaltwarrior been dreaming of getting these kinds of epic battles after FF9, one of the best franchises ever made by presenting those summon battles (Bahamut vs Odin, Alexander vs Bahamut, etc), they were all CGI but now becomes real time battle.
As a "veteran" FF fan this looks like my worst Nightmare. Messy action gameplay and boring design... Visually impressive at least.
@@olbericaegis206 I wish my nightmares were this tame.
My worst nightmare is my mom eating me.
@@olbericaegis206 I'm also a FF vet (FFIV), and this looks fucking fantastic to me.
The first few seconds being just the few seconds of the original trailer shows how far the game has come.
These in game visuals are insane. If they can just nail the exploration I will be so happy!
Yeah this is what I’m hoping for. Being sucked into the world of the game is more important to me than the battle gameplay. Hopefully it delivers on that aspect.
Looks like FF14, a 2014 game.
@@mappybc6097 if they can bring the same level of narrative, will still be good
@Sonnyson Idk. I played the first 2 hours of the free trial, and it was pretty generic stuff.
@@mappybc6097 It looks far, far superior technically to 14. I didn't enjoy 14 either but, I have it installed right now and it looks like a game from 11 years ago. ff16 looks much, much better technically.
For anyone interested, Combat Director Ryota Suzuki also worked on the following games:
- Marvel vs. Capcom 2
- SF Alpha 3
- SF IV
- Rival Schools
- Jojos Bizarre Adventure (PSX)
- Dragon's Dogma
- Darkstalkers Resurrection
Also Monster Hunter World!
Dmc5 aswell
You can leave all those out and only mention DMC5, yet that's actually not on your list...
No wonder it looks tight like a fighting game.
@@bassdeaf2935 yup.
This game seems almost too good to be real
Love that the team were basically speechless for a couple minutes after the presentation ended
This game looks absolutely incredible, can't wait... Those last couple of minutes with Titan, and music kicking in!
FF14 has god tier music, so we can expect a banger of a soundtrack.
Min. 16:00
This actually made me feel a little emotional, you see how far FF and video games in general have come. Just stunning
imagina talking with your kid version describing this.
@@ivanleon6164it would be baffling and disconcerting. I don’t think people like yourself realize what Final Fantasy MEANT to people in the 80s and why RPGs were a niche genre for the nerdiest of the nerds. This would be an abomination for most fans of early RPGs.
@@JazGalaxy i started playing since FF 6, i was a kid that liked videogames and i loved it, that is the real power of FF, when played by someone who doesnt know about the game, welcoming new players and let them feel the same is the real magic, the people you described is a minority with very narrow view of what FF can be.
FF 16 looks absolutely DOOOOOOOPE!!! I love the variety of gameplay and combat. I love the environments. I love the medieval setting. I loooooooove the music! Oh man the music is incredible. I can’t wait to get my collector’s edition copy. That ifrit statue is gonna go well with my other nerdy statues. Can . . . Not . . . . Wait!!!
Man the soundtrack is absolutely breathtaking
Soken is a god
The Phoenix vs Bahamut sequence is literally Panzer Dragoon! I'm hyped AF!
I love how the slashes sound like classic FF games
This is going to be stupid good. Yoshi P is a god
People who played FFXIV and finished endwalker will not be suprise its good.
They are not ready! The team is greatest in gaming, they create philosophical masterpieces
I was 6 inches from my screen at the end. I’m not even a FF fan, that’s was just incredible.
I can recognise Ralph Ineson's iconic raspy voice from a mile away (He played Finch in the UK Office and the dad in the Witch).
I've played FFXIV, so I am absolutely unsurprised the music is blowing people away.
Some people just don't know how much power Soken wields--but they will. They will.
The fact they just showed off their gameplay through out the showcase just shows how confident the FF16 team in their own game.
Like literally, non-stop gameplay being shown off, especially the combat.
Great things will come from this game.
I mean you're right in this case they appear confident in their game, but it's not uncommon to show 20 something min gameplay especially this close to release so it's not like it's special or anything.
@@Ayoul cough cough Redfall cough cough
They should have named this state of play “Anything you can do Eikon do better”
My most anticipated game this year!
This looks next gen AF
The sheer confidence and willingness to please is saturated in this. People have their opinions on what games they want to play, and while valid, I really don't think they can do much else to convince people on the fence, they likely wouldn't play it no matter how good it is or are stuck in the past with old FFs.
As for the presentation, something perked up in me when they said your AI companions will learn based on your actions, and I remembered that a Dragon's Dogma dev was the battle director. Anyone who knows DD knows how scarily cool the pawns can behave when they learn how you fight, seeing how you tend to pop enemies in the air with a launcher and then following up, or grappling them for you when they see you tend to grab enemies. If he improved on that design, things will be FUN and may give us a glimpse into what can be for Dragon's Dogma 2.
I also love that, for the first time in the franchise, this FF wil have an official Italian and Latin American Spanish dub.
the AI friends system looks very good in this game ! I really hope they'll apply this tech to upgrade the trust system in FF XIV, it would be so dope !
I know this is not what will come to everyone's mind but i'm so excited to hear Kenshi Yonezu's theme song (he's come a long way since his vocaloid days)
They've released a teaser for it! With even more new footage from the game. It sounds good so far!
@@Kowanpoop i love how it sounds :)
@@James-gj8rn same! I do wonder if they're gonna release an English version. They usually do if the song is in Japanese.
@@Kowanpoop i really hope they use the original in this case, i'm a huge fan of Kenshi-san's songs
@James He could also sing the English version. Usually they have the same artist sing the song in both languages. I think the only exceptions were ffx-2 and ff13-2, coincidentally, both sequels.
Devil May Cry + The Witcher 3 + God Of War = Final Fantasy XVI
Preordering right GODDAMN NOW!!
This game literally has everything the new gow games have been missing makes gowr and 2018 feel like a disappointment 🤣
@@8minatoyeah this game has combat that isn’t ass
This is what Final Fantasy should look like and feel like it~
I hope they put SUBSTANCE into this spectacle. I think a lot is riding on this game for Square. God knows fans have told them what needs to be done. Let's see if they listened.
Really like the calm relaxing music, could hear it allday
We are not ready for this, Yoshida team in this project is insane.
Just wow.
i can tell this games is going to be a rollercoaster experience
Glad you guys noticed the shotlock from KH haha.
I loved XV i dont care what anyone says, this looks good too
Ok
After the insane player-driven customization, calmness, and openness of Tears of the Kingdom in May...I think FF16 will be a perfect palette cleanser to just take us on a roller coaster ride in June.
Looks so damn good
Do you think they are showing so much because Forspoken did not sell so well? This looks like 3 games worth of bosses!
This is just, game of the year.
Odin with zantetsuken mayhem!! What a sight!!
In Yoshi P we TRUST
Everything is looking great! Really hoping Clive has a personality and is not generic AF
really can't w8 to f'in play this thing even my hands are tingling with excitement and hype!! lmao
Yoshi-P was on the Dragon Warrior team, before FF :)
Fun fact the dog will he Firner summons lol who knows would be cool.
Poor Redfall. The game is so close to Jedi Survivor and Tears of the Kingdom, and they can't push it to June, or it gets destroyed by Diablo 4 and FF16.
I dunno if Zelda is gonna make that much of a dent on Redfall as they're both platform exclusives - but releasing 4 days after Jedi Survivor without stable 60fps on console is insanity.
@Andy Benji It will, in the sense Tears and Survivor will get almost all of the media coverage, and Redfall will get the scraps.
So casual Xbox players may not even know the game exists.
@@battlep0t I dunno, overall they have very distinct target audiences. There's overlap, but a coop shooter and a melee action adventure game can easily co-exist and both be successful. It's also less of a worry for Redfall because of Gamepass.
We gamers are feasting this year!
Yoshi P is such a G
I’ve played every single FF game. Every one at release since FF6 and I think this game looks absolutely fantastic while knowing I won’t personally like it as much as FF7 Remake. Remake hit that nice balance of tactical and action gameplay perfectly which made hard mode one of the greatest gaming experiences of my life. Not a big fan of full action rpg however it looks really solid and I feel the story and big moments will carry this game to a W. Looking forward to it and have full confidence that Naoki Yoshida will deliver us a great game.
When I heard music composer, I first the yoshi was gonna say, nobuo Uematsu
Damn I hope they didn't show TOO much with this. I know Square always over-spoils with Nomura game trailers but I'm hoping Yoshi-P didn't give away the biggest spectacle shots of his own work. CBU3 is confident for sure tho!
Going by Endwalker, they didn't.
Exactly what I was thinking, while I loved what I saw, I felt more on than one occasion that they were showing perhaps a bit too much
CBU3's specialty is making you think they revealed a lot, when they actually revealed almost nothing or twisted the context so badly you have no idea what any of it means.
nope, what you see is only 3-5% of the game
There's a scene where it looks like Ifrit may be tearing a young boy transformed into Phoenix into pieces but they don't fully show it. I think a lot of this game is going to be brutal and they're choosing to show fun, actiony bits.
For those who are wondering why FF main titles have greadually step away from turn base gameplay, It is important to keep things in perspective and consider the following:
Yakuza like a Dragon has sold more than 490,000 copies (as reported on October 2022). Before its launch the total amount of sales the franchise had accumulated was 2.8 million units among all the games.
Dragon Quest XI has sold over 6.5 million copies which expand several versions and ports for multiple platforms.
Persona 5 has sold 8.3 million units globally but that is including the original version, the Royal version (3.3 million across all platforms), Persona 5 Strikers and P5: Dancing in Starlight.
For those series which until now they have a more niche franchise, that is huge and impressive numbers in comparisson. But for a more mainstream series like FF, which FF XV has sold 10 million despite all its problems and beign in way less platforms (like Nintendo Switch) not so much.
I am not saying that a turn-based FF game with a AAA budget could be done in the future, but the FF XVI wanted to try out new things and I think they can get it right with action.
This is exactly right, but I disagree that they can go back to turn based. The fact that they can no longer do turn based is exactly why we are here. I HATE this, but this has been the direction of Final Fantasy ever since Final Fantasy 1. The main criticism against FF1 was "why doesn't it play like Zelda?". The fact that action games sell better than strategy role playing games has been a known quantity since the very beginning, and every single game has been making concessions in that direction. The Active Time Battle system was one concession, the mini-game attacks in FF6 were another, and the the abundance of mini games in FF7 was another. Once FF7 sold so many copies that Final Fatansy became a brand that competes in the mainstream market, the writing was on the wall and every game after X was trying to court whatever was mainstream popular in order to justify the financial risk associated with building a AAA game (Be that MMOs with FF12 or famously Call Of Duty with FF13.).
This is like dejavu. I'm pretty sure i read this comment a couple of weeks ago.
@@thepuppetmaster9284 I put on another video on another channel discussing why mainline FF have not been turn based for a long time (20 years since FF X).
@@JazGalaxy I mean there are great and RECENT games on Square Enix that are turn based: Tactics Ogre Reborn, Live A Live Remake, Triangle Strategy, Harvestella, Octopath Traveler 2 and many others.
Already 2023 GOTY
No.

They died.
Screams God of war. Down to the menu and how you upgrade skills.
8:19 Dude... That soundtrack 💀
You had me at 'not turn-based'. For my sins, I've been gaming for over 40 years and have never played a FF game. I've tried to get into FF7 Remake a few times but can't get my head around the combat. Have the Allies ever done a play-through where they talk through the mechanics? If not, would be awesome if they did.
In 7R you attack yo fill your atb bar when you get a segment you can then use a special move or magic for extra damage. You can also switch between characters to fill the atb and use specials and Magic it’s great battle system to be fair
Personally loved 7R's combat but it was, to say the least, unique in it's approach and you aren't the first person I've heard this from. Maximillian Dood did several playthroughs that are great and he's traditionally a classic fighting game guy (Street Fighter, Tekken, etc) so really appreciates the mechanics. He is a massive FF7 fanboy though so he really takes his time with the first playthrough
@@rleeton1 thanks man. I’ll check him out.
@@AlexMoscow9mmpr Just thinking, Blitzz is also a good one for combat tutorials
It’s yoshiP I’m not surprise it will be good.
People need to give more credit to his team especially since he's only "producer" this time around. It's an important role, but pretty different than a director.
@@Ayoul I give credit to all the people under yoshiP, soken, ishikawa, chris ect.
But without YoshiP, there will be no team.
Also if the game is bad, I will blame yoshiP alone.
The main chords of the game are too much like Revolting Children from the Matilda musical. I can't unhear it.
I still fear we might have seen too much...especially the boss battles...but wat if every eikons we go up against has a Lost version like that Titan Lost version....then maybe we haven't seen it all lol....insane.
It feels like they re really confident in the story so they are not afraid of showing crazy fights without the contexts.
Nope.
The enemies being damage sponges worries me somewhat. It can make grinding painful and tedious, it can make all the encounters feel samey. I'm sure they have systems to bridge that. Other than that this game looks phenomenal.
theres an option of story focused or action focused
They aren’t damage sponges it’s like dmc they have enough health for you to combo there is also so many aoe attacks you see him destroy like 4 enemies at the same time with one move.
Can we get Barnabas’s Armor and put it on Clive? GoTY if gear customizes physically
I doubt armor changes maybe weapons but still doubtful he might have a story based sword only time I saw his weapon change was with eikon changes.
I wonder if it'll have some weapon variety, would also like to make cosmetic changes to the character
no
for weapon only i guess, cuz weapon seems different time to time in video
Looks ok i guess and I love the medieval style. Hope its better than 15 at least
It's likely it will be. I hope!
my only gripe is there is so many flashy thing happening on your screen when things get chaotic, i dont think my eyes can keep up
i hope there is way to lessen the effect in the option
I think your eyes will get used to it once you played the game for 3-4 hours.
@@thepuppetmaster9284 yeah i really hope so
I also think that you'll be able to turn down some of the UI stuff cause the damage numbers and the right side text callouts seems both useless.
16:10 is this the allies' first encounter of Mid in a ff game? 😮
Ik Mid isn't as popular and mainstream as their relative Cid, but the allies have played a LOT of ff games so I'm shocked. I don't play ff that much but I've ran into Mid in ff4, 5 and ff9. Mid is usually the son/daughter/grandchild of Cid but ik in ff14 Mid is older (I believe Cid's father, idk I haven't played ff14
@@LeanneMustafaCid's father in FF14 is Midas nan Garlond , so you're not wrong.
6:26 that is the final boss. The painting in the wall.
That seens to be Garuda actually
You dont know that, but maybe you are right
Is it just me or it looked a bit similar to sepiroth's final form from OG VII?
Looks more like a "Lost" version of Garuda to me
@@Just_Red_ It kind of does, but also did seem like the MC was in a room of that "mysterious civilisation" architecture they mention briefly though. Maybe it's some secret boss.
After FF16 comes out, FF15 will be a distant memory compared to the stuff we have in FF16.
GOTY? 😊
Great job guys keep it up!
Yeay reaction
This is DMC embedded into FF DNA!
Thank God Dmc and Gow inspired the combat entirely like the fliying part of Mundus boss fight and the cronos battle is copied in titan lost
The flying part is from a much older Square Enix game called Panzer Dragoon wich is likely where DMC got that from
the Titan one well yeah kind of but it's more of an actual fight than Kratos VS Chronos was since Chronos was mostly a setpiece Titan Lost if part setpiece part boss
what happened to huber btw? haven't seen him in abit
? He just had a preview up this morning, was on group stream, and hasn't been missing podcasts or anything. Today he and Gabby are heading out on a trip to London, so if you'd asked a week from now, it would make more sense, but he hasn't been absent recently. -Bloodworth
Lair 2!
looks very action god of war with epic big monsters and less rpg manage your team final fantasy
This looks like a mix of kh3 and ff15. Idk how I feel about that
Looks more like DMC5 than either of those 2.

I don't like how all the bosses are in this circle arena. Where's the world? Why are they suddenly transported to this arena that exists outside the world?
Looks very fun. Would still like a traditional FF though
it look like mobile game ads but better and real game
If they have a golden saucer with mini-games.....
I have the game for you Mario Party
I know I’m in the minority, but ff16 just looks too radically different from FF. Its not even recognizable, so I’m just not going to get it. Hope the rest of you enjoy it, it’s just not for me
I simultaneously don't like it but also am not 100% against it. I'm offended by it and have zero hype for it, but I'm not going to fail to give it a chance. I MIGHT be good. But, yeah, it's going to be an uphill battle because it LOOKS horrific to me.
Uhu. Radically different how? Because I can assure you that FF10 and 10-2 were already radically different from FF4.
_'just looks too radically different from FF. Its not even recognizable'_
I've been playing FF for decades and i recognize XVI have crystal + traditional summons as the main story plot just like FF IV / VI / VIII / IX / X / XIII / XIV / XV, medieval settings just like some old FF games, Chocobos and Cid, and great music orchestra. The only thing missing are spiky haired protagonist with giant sword and turn based, which i'm okay they didn't reused these two elements.
@@thepuppetmaster9284 no. The core of the best final fantasies are 1. The party (not AI bots but playable and well delevoped) 2. Original world and characters design 3. Unique gameplay 4. Epic story.
I cant see this things in ff16. Maybe the story?
And the music ofc,but Soken is good.
Funny. It looks amazing and lifeless at the same time.
It's because very little actually HAPPENS. What makes something a game is "because". The character uses a healing item BECAUSE they are low on health BECAUSE they are fighting a monster BECAUSE they need to get to the McMuffin BECAUSE it will save the process. In this trailer you just see pointless stuff happening. A monster roars. button mashing action happens. A guy walks into a forest. A guy walks into a cave. It's all unchained to any meaning and it's therefore mentally uninteresting and unchallenging.

Ya
Yeah i had the same suspiction
The combat looks boring
They just totally forget about their playerbase that has been with them from the beginning. I hate to see that one of my favorite game series has turned to a devil may cry style of game. This is not what I want of a Final Fantasy game. Final Fantasy is turned based, Square-Enix has forgot what this series made so succesfull and they have forgot there loyal players that where there from the start, 15 was already a disaster and this seems too be better but the action combat is a dealbreaker for me. I never tought I was gonna say this in my life but Im gonna skip the new Final Fantasy!

This is a horror show. It's like watching some demon puppeting around your mom's corpse. Why even call this Final Fantasy?
As someone who doesn't like rpgs much, especially turn based ones, and likes action games, I agree. I'd never want one of my favorite franchises to have such a radical genre change and I feel so bad for rpg fans.
