You can still have the collection bottle/pot lower than the nipple if you use a long pipe, just make sure it has a curve in it higher than the nipple, then any bubbles will rise to the curve and not go around it. I like the idea of putting grease on the thread, I've always been worried air would get back round it if loose. I've used a stick (broom handle) in the past, push the brake pedal down with it and jam it against the seat backrest so it stays down, then tighten the nipple up.

Cool, I never thought of putting the bottle higher, make sense. My problem is it wont stay on the nipple unless I put a hose clamp on it, I open it and push the pedal down and put the jack handle between the pedal and the seat then close the nipple

The bottle was only high because I didnt have a long enough hose. The whole purpose of the hose running up is to keep the air away from the nipple so it cant be drawn back into the system.

Some good mechanical physics! the atomic state of gas is lighter than liquid so it rises. Bravo. @bruceaskin9645

Ive heard some put a tie wrap around the hose that's connected to the nipple
I'm looking at performing a brake flush on my Nissan Frontier here soon. Never done a flush myself so will be my 1st time
