As a Land Rover fan for over 30 years I had quite a few of them. (from the 88 series 1 to the latest 130, but also several Discoveries and Rangerover's )
The new Defender is what evolution looks like, and it was about time Landrover did take the Defender to a new century and make it ready for the future

My thoughts exactly. Which is why I'll be on the lookout for a decent spec LR4. I'm hoping the dealers start getting a bunch in on trades and it becomes a buyers market...

I still remember the Land Rover Branded Mud Flaps
Sat in one at an auto show a few days ago, I honestly thought it was going to be great but Gawd was it cheap feeling with hard, low quality plastics everywhere! I think the screen graphics are such to keep you eyes and mind away from thinking this is a low budget economy car. As with all the Range Rovers, slamming the door shut is met with anything BUT a solid sounding thunk, unlike just about every other car I sat in at the show.
hard plastics aren't an issue in a 'utility' driven vehicle. The problem comes when you pay £70,000 or more for one...
Tpolerex you would have hated the interior of the old Defender then.

My thoughts exactly. What are those the 22's? Gotta go with the 19 inchers at least. Or the steelies if you are really serious. I'd go with the 19's just so I'd have more side wall to bounce off curbs when parking the thing LOL.

@@danielbrix1982 Das Problem ist natürlich bei allen modernen Autos gegeben. Da war der alte Defender vielleicht besser, weil einfacher zu reparieren. Trotzdem, ich würde es auf einen Versuch ankommen lassen...
Espectacular. Seguro que habrá muchos ingleses que lo disfrutarán. Desde luego no creo que cuenten con muchos compradores europeos. El juego cambió, si los europeos somos un problema para el desarrollo de Gran Bretaña, por nada del mundo queremos frenar su disparo económico. A las duras y a las maduras.

i hope the bonnet has ample flat areas so modern days equivalent of maps can be spread on them to chart out new territories to traverse. I would even go so far to say the LDR should have incorporated a projection mapping system on the bonnet itself.:D

Saw this in on tour in December in dealer in UK - I was utterly utterly underwhelmed - more so as this version in UK is 65k GBP with all its valuable addons - think they have shot themselves in the foot and jeep and Suzuki in particular will reap the rewards
David Pinnington spot on they’re be better off road which was the sole purpose of the Land Rover and as a farmers tool, the wheel size is all wrong for off road and over landing they’re fucked up big time now just another Chelsea tractor 🚜
The older versions is much better for me,hope landrover will put an i6 inline gasoline and diesel engines in that model, no third row seating is not necessary for that model.
This one will have 2 petrol engines: P300 (2.0 liter) with 300 HP & 400 Nm, and P400 MHEV (V6 engine & small electric motor) combined power of 400 HP & 550 Nm.
Diesel engines will be D200 (200HP) & D300 (300 HP)
..this is not a utility truck, which is series/defender for some 65 years..basically, this over complicated thing is aiming to same market as rest of the fleet..now is clear why JLR is making monumental financial losses..
The P400 is an in-line 6.
Yeah i think they are aiming this smaller defender at the younger crowd knowing regular land rover owners will buy land rover anyways.we can get them with many different style wheels and tires this ones is for the teenagers and college kids more i do believe and young famiies.
tbh they could have called it the new discovery and no one would question it.
Certainly a fusion of the two designs, looks quite a lot like a discovery but will be more capable off-road like it's namesake

Great music track! This thing looks great, though a bit cartoonish the rugged gear makes it awesome..not sure what that saddlebag does..tent? First aid? Parachute? Luggage?

The saddlebag is here to put some things such as wet clothes after hiking/running/riding bike as that way you don’t get the smell in your cabin, and also it has small holes so water goes out :)
Survival kit, that thing is built to break down anywhere in the world! Don't forget who owns the company and who makes them!

Land Rover are a bit silly, they are going to start competing with themselves. This is a rival to the disco 5, and I am sure they well sell a lot more new defenders than disco 5s. If I was going to pick a luxury family vehicle, it would be the new defender, and that is coming from a old Land Rover purist owning a s3 88 and a disco 2.
That is true and also in my other video with the review of the Defender X lot of people commented the same thing. We will see what will the sales number say in a year or two
